What Happens When Your Cell Phone Falls Into the Bathtub?

It was on the window sill playing her favorite music and then a it rang. The phone buzzed and did a little jiggy and plopped right into the bath. It was me on the other end . . . my daughter's voice said, "Mom?" And then it went dead. For a little bit over 24 hours it did nothing. Then her dad called her and voila . . . it worked again. So it takes a little over 24 hours for the phone to dry? Our cell phones are water proof? I washed my son's phone once. It still worked. How 'bout you. What's the worst torture you've put your cell phone through?

I do not know, dropped to the floor, I think, and when my daughter drop her cell in snow, it worked for a while and it just plain stop after that. So her cell was not water proof at all

Maybe the warm liquid theory is correct. The people I know who drop their phones in the snow had the same problem as your daughter.

The warm water theory is very interesting. It's still a mystery to me though.

Could be truth, I once remember being in the bathroom, it was still steam from the bathroom, and it look for a while that my cell was going to stop working but then it was ok after a while.

I have not had that kind of experience. I also only use a very cheap model of tracfone. In the book that came with it, however, it says that if the phone gets wet, open it, take the battery out and let it dry overnight. You must be very lucky with phones to have them survive so well.

I had no idea a cell phone could survive that much water. Must be a good brand..lol I am so easy on my personal things. Have always been this way. My cell is about 4 years old or older and works just fine. Dropped it once or twice on the carpeting but that's about the extent of my abuse. What ever did we do before cell phones?

Oh, if only our kids were that careful. But it does seem that these cells can survive an awful lot of abuse. My son thinks his is a nerf basketball.

Oh, that's exactly what my daughter did and she didn't have a manuel. yeah, these phones seem to survive quite a lot. Good thing too, we pay enough for them. Thanks for stopping by, Garden G. Hope you're having an awesome Saturday.

For sure Lakota, the best thing is not to drop it at all. But you know how kids are? No matter how many times you tell them to be careful with their stuff, it just goes in one ear and out the other, so to speak. Wow, your daughter's cell flew apart? Crazy.

That's what she did. Plus she kept wiping the drops off every time some appeared. Then she took the battery out and dried that also. Very surprised it worked again, but very happy. Thanks, my friend, for stopping by. Have a great weekend.

I haven't had any cell phone mishaps. I recently had to replace my really old phone due to the fact that it just didn't want to hold a charge anymore. My father had the same model purchased at the same time. I called him and he told me that he had just replaced his for the same reason. Well, now I have a phone that is a lot more than I need, but it really didn't cost me too much ($179.00 phone for only $29.95!!!). The odd thing is that the phone I would have purchased with a lot fewer features was going to cost me $40.00 more! Ah well, I guess that I haven't had any mishaps because I just really don't use the phone very much at all.

Cell-phones - They are most useful during emergency
Hello my friend gtargirl Ji, I am kept aloof from such shows, as WE (alongwith my hubby), do not have any cell-phones but, let anyone claim, nothing is fool-proof. May God bless you and have a great time.

How about dropping it in the toilet..lol...It took about a day to dry out as well but after that , it worked. But once a few years back, we had one that got dropped in water and it never worked again. Maybe the technology has changed or we got lucky the second time. It didnt want to be flushed, so it worked for us!
