Do you wear your seatbelt?

It's a law here that you have to wear your seatbelt as it is in most places now. Even though, a lot of people refuse to wear one as they think they may do more harm than good. They'd rather get a ticket than risk not being able to get out of a wreck. What about you..do you wear your seatbelt? Are you bad to forget it or just not want to wear it?

i'd never drive without a seatbelt on. i do wear seatbelt when i'm at the passenger seat in front. i find it rather uncomfortable to wear seatbelts when sitting at the back seat but i do try to make it a habit. always be safe than sorry

I agree it's better to be safe than sorry. It's a nice habit to have and can save money on a ticket too. Thanks for the response.

If you are in my car and in the back seat you will wear your seat belt or you will walk. If I get into a crash I do not want a 200 pound projectile (you) coming at me from behind or flopping around hitting me or my kids in a roll over.

I took a closer look at your picture and I might have to change that to 100 pound projectile, but the principle still applies.

Dear friend, It is also law here in India, also the police would leave us with a fine of Rs.500 around $10. In my case I do wear seat belt and it gives me much ease and more secure. But at certain times if the seating is not comfort it is really uncomfortable.

Hi Shamrack! I hope you have been well. I was wondering if it was a law in India as well to wear one. It's very expensive here if you don't wear one. It depends on the state but here it's $50. Thanks for responding.

Hi cupid! It's hard to wear a seatbelt when you have a lot of errands to run and you have to get in and out of the car. I think it's more important on the higher speed areas too. Thanks for the response.

no, jen i don't. i don't forget it i just don't like to wear it. when they first starting making it a law i had just had carotid surgery & it rested right on my incision, not very comfortable. that's just one excuse, lol but i don't like to wear them, don't like being told i have to. i think that should be a person's choice. do u wear yours?

LOL..not like they want me to. I have an issue with the personal choice factor too. I can see both sides of the argument. I certainly don't want to be trapped in a car when I should be getting out and I don't want to be flung from one either. I was in a wreck once in which I come out with only a scratch..knock on wood..if I had been wearing my seatbelt..I would have been seriously injured by the steering wheel. Instead I was tossed to the passenger seat. It's got it's pros and cons. Thanks for responding jo.

Wearing a seat belt and keeping helmsmen is mandatory for me because it saves our life. Most of them think that it is uncomfortable but one should not think about the comfort when it is about our life security, so i suggest every one to fallow this things for your sake not for the sake of others.

I always wear my seatbelt. Accidents happen, the least you expect it. And there are times that I remind my husband to wear his. Because there are times he doesn't buckle up especially when the place he's going to, is not that far away. But here in our country, I've seen some taxi drivers who doesn't wear their seatbelts. And it seems kind of weird to them, if you buckle up yourself.

Thanks for the response jcj! I think it's odd that the school buses here doesn't have seatbelts on them. Sometimes children even have to stand up. I think that if one has to abide by the rules they all should especially when it's the state that enforces the law.

I don't wear mine. For one I have always felt uncomfortable in a seat belt. Also my father was in a wreck when I was a kid that had he been buckled in he would have been trapped in the car and possibly killed.

I usually do, occasionally I forget to put it on. And in response to a previous responder, sometimes it would be idiotic to wear it. My brother is quite tall and has been in 2 separate accidents, that in both cases, if he had had a seat belt on he would have been killed, it's only because his body fell over sideways that he was saved! So that statement is idiotic! Even the police will tell you it saves lives most of the time, but there are situations where the seat belt can actually kill you.

Thank you for the input. I was in an accident that would have injured me severely if I had been wearing the seatbelt. I do wear mine most of the time to avoid the ticket but I think it really should be up to the driver.

The seat belt is compulsary for the driver and front passenger. If not for the seat belt, my husband would have taken much longer in an accident with a minibus. But in downtown when you can drive at low speed, it seems not that necessary. But how can the legal stipulations give different requirements for mobile vehicles which come and go in all directions?

It would be hard to determine what vehicles and speed it would be required in and be able to keep up with it. I'm glad your husband was wearing that seatbelt. Some people are afraid of being confined by a seatbelt during an accident. Thanks for responding.

There is also a law in our country regarding the wearing of seatbelt. I always wear my seatbelt not because of the law but for the reason that I believe it will do me good. The seatbelt was placed there by car manufacturer to serve a purpose.

There are always going to be risks of what can happen in a car wreck. However it is proven that more lives have been saved then lost because of seatbelts. I have always worn my seatbelt it's and automatic when I get into a car. I feel safer when it's on and will continue to wear it.

Its the law in my state as well about having to wear a seatbelt I wear mine all of the time I never forget but then again I was raised in a state where you had to wear your seatbelt as a child and before I had turned 18 that is when the State of Maine made it mandatory to wear a seatbelt.

Hi Crysi! It is easier to become habit if you have wore them even as a child. I think it would be better if it had been like that for everyone and then there would be nothing to get used to. Thanks for responding.

I was raised in the spirit of "do as the law sas", and I'm abiding by the law. Otherwise I feel I'm stressed out, and it does not worth. I wear always my belt, that's the first thing I put on when I enter the car.I'm so used to do it, that it comes to me automatically. And I always check that other there are with me in the car wear the seatbelt too.I know I can be pretty annoying from time to time - but tha's the law. And it's made in order to save your life. I know that there are people , usually heavier people, who have problem with the seatbelt, and than risk to receve a ticket, rather than feeling unpleasant all the ride.

I always wear my seatbelt. Putting it on is completely second nature to me and I can't even imagine forgetting to put it on. I always insist that any passengers I have whilst driving do wear their seatbelts too as they are a very important feature that are installed for our own safetly.

Yes i always wear mine i,d rather have broken collar bone in crash than die. some people are just lazy i mean it takes 2 seconds to put one on. My car pings if i dont put it on and if i ignore the pinging it pings louder so you gotta belt up to shut it up. goog idea really
