Well obviously the same as the woman in the story did. But then on the other hand, if the couch was bought 'as is', and I liked the cat, I might be tempted to keep it! LOL

it was bought at one of these second hand stores, so I suppose it was bought as is - and in fact, they are talking about having to replace it because the cat DID spend several days in it and did those things a cat must do ...

I would do the same as the woman in Wisconsin. I would search for the owner. I think that the owner was missing her can.

Yeah, the guy had been looking for his cat, and I'm glad he has her back, I hope he keeps a better eye on her now.

I would do the same as the woman in the story did... first check with the place the couch came from, then alert the media. Glad there's a happy ending to this story.

I saw this on the news last night and was amazed at the story. I would do the same thing as these people did, return it to it's rightful owner however, if they didn't want the cat back, I'd keep it for myself. My hubby would have a fit but he'd have to get over it because the cat wouldn't go to any shelter.

the lady who found him worked at a shelter - isn't that a strange thing... I'd've kept her too if the orginal owner hadn't been found

Poor cat! That's great that the woman was able to find the owner. I don't know I would have went that far to find the owner myself, mostly because I am not that creative in my thinking. Great to have a happy ending for a change!

I'm allergic to cats, so I wouldn't have had a new pet. I would have had to try to find a home quickly.

The person who bought the couch did everything exactly right, with one exception. I believe that I would have investigated the mewing sooner. I'm glad the cat was still alive.

Ya know, I probably would've sooner too, but I recognize all my cats' sounds and, besides, Rygel, my "Lassie" cat would've been telling there was a problem.

i think that would be cool you get a seat and a lap buddy to go with it but i would also feel sad about the poor animal and how it got into the couch if it was injured or not iam sure that would be a terrifing thing for that poor thing to go through.

I do think the whole, moving the couch, the store, moving it again, must've been really scary, poor kitty - but she's fine and back with her person.

Personally I would have adopted the cat, and replaced the couch, stinky, stinky, stinky. Several days all by itself, it is a wonder the couple did smell something sooner. Mind you if I heard mewling, I would know it was a cat. We adopted a lot of cats when I was growing up, or you could just say Mom, liked to feed the strays...

I took in the current stray roommate in April of 2007. She'd be a better roommate if she'd act like she lived here instead of trying so hard to live out of boxes...

Lol, well there do have to be the generous few that try to keep order on the streets and lend a helping hand. I let a stray(roommate) into my house once, they tend to over stay their welcome, I will not be doing it again anytime soon.

I would have done exactly the same thing as Vickie did, I think. It was pretty obvious that the guy who donated the couch was going to come forward, but I'm wondering how long the poor thing was stuck in the sofa in the shop, without food. However, all's well that ends well. If it had been me, and nobody came forward, then I would have given the cat a good home. I'll bet it was scared stiff! Brightest Blessings my friend.

I would find out where the couch comes from and notify the owners if they want the cat back and secretly hope that they would say "sorry, we love Fluffy (or whatever( but we are moving into an apartment so we are not allowed pets.) Oh I do hope Fluffy is a good mouser.

Thank goodness the cat went back to her owners. I suppose they have children, and they really missed her. I mean I used to have pets and I went nervous if anyone of them went missing. Mind you, the last cat I had stayed in the yard or came back home, It was the dog I had to worry about, she loved to explore.

well, they did contact the resale shop, who had no idea where it had come from, if the previous' owner's friend hadn't seen the artical in the news, she might've never have found her way home. I probably would've been secretly hoping that Callie needed a new home too.

I would do my best to find the owner too and probably keep the cat if I couldn't. We have never had anything we aquired came with such a bonus but we did have an old sofabed that was a favorite hiding place for a bunch of kittens. When we gave it away we carefully opened it and inspected the under side to make sure no cats were inside.

What a wonderful and happy ending story. I chuckled over the name of his cat Callie. My cat's name is Kallee also, just spelled differently. I would of done exactly the same thing in this case. Try to find the owner, I would of wanted my baby returned if that happened. Having a pet missing even if it for hours when she got, made me a worry wart. I just can't imagine being older or having children and their companion just disappears. Heart-wrenching. I'm glad this ended on a good note.

Booboo, Cookie's brother - can't find a pix of Cookie :(
yeah, Callie is pretty common for a calico cat - gee, I wonder why.... I knew a lady who only seemed to get 2 colors of cats, calicos, who she always named Patches, and orange males she named Tigre - and thought she was SO clever.... The only calico I've had we called Cookie - changing it from Kit'N. Her brother was named Caboodle - we changed that to Booboo. Yeah, I was glad the story had a happy ending, but it probably wouldn't have been news if it hadn't.
