Do you eat spinach?

Philippines

I remember when I was a child, my mom cooks spinach. It is just fried and crispy. But it is delicious. Last sunday, when I went to my mom's house. She cooked it again after long years. My 4-year old son tasted it and he liked it so much. So, I cooked it here at home. My mother and father in law liked it very much. Spinach is a very healthy food. Spinach is an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin A, manganese, folate, magnesium, iron, vitamin C, vitamin B2, calcium, potassium, and vitamin B6. It is a very good source of dietary fiber, copper, protein, phosphorus, zinc and vitamin E. In addition, it is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, niacin and selenium. How about you? do you eat spinach? how do you cook it? thanks. take care mylotters

The spinach are leafy green veggies with somewhat rounded leaves. How do you fry and make it crispy? I've not tasted a fried spinach yet. Can you share your recipe to me? Thanks!

I like spinach and always have. I eat it any way, just according to my mood at the time. Many times I steam it with a little salt, pepper, garlic and small amount of vinegar, or I like to have spinach salads in the summer with boiled eggs, tomatoes, bacon that I have cooked and crumbled and served with a vinaigrette, and I also like to make a vegetarian lasagna type dish in which you put boiled, slicked potatoes, sliced tomatoes, spinach and cheese sauce in layers and then after a couple or 3 layers pour cheese sauce over it and top it off with a bit of grated cheese then pop in a medium oven for a little while until it is cooked through. I would like to ask you about your fried, crispy spinach, I've never heard of it! Do you fry it until crispy from being raw or do you steam or cook the spinach first, Before you fry it? ;)

I just make it plain. My kids won't touch the stuff so I make it for myself. I buy the canned spinach. It is easier for me to cook that. It saves time because I don't have to chop up a fresh head of spinach. I could just empty the can into a pot and cook it. When it is done, I put salt and butter on top. It's good enough for me :).

Some said spinach in Tagalog is "alugbati" and some said it's "kangkong", but I really thought it was "kulitis". Well, if it's alugbati, kangkong or kulitis, I have already tasted and eaten spinach. I like alugbati and kulitis a lot specially in broth while kangkong can also be done like adobo.

Hi, Kang kong and alugbati is not spinach. But I also eat both veggies. I put alugbati with tuna stir fried. and also in beef nilaga. And like you I like kangkong in adobo. take care

Certainty spinach is not a kangkong and i think that i s not also an alugbati. There are few types of spinach; Chinese spinach, Greek spinach,we have also a Philippine spinach to name a few. The Chinese spinach i usually order every time we dine in a Chinese restaurant and it really taste good when mixed with sate. I know alugbati and i like it with fresh fish and just put little water in it, the dish called as tinolang isda. "Kulitis", hmmp am not familiar with it and i don't know how it looks like.

I've never had fried spinach, you said it is fried and crispy. I only eat baby spinach as a salad most of the time, it kinda reminds me of watercress when you cook it, my grandma used to cook watercress all the time, I didn't ever like the way it smelled when it was cooking and it looked similar to spinach.

We do eat spinach and i just suite' it with garlic , onion and ginger paste and then soya sauce. I haven't tried that fried and crispy thing, probably i need an egg and flour for that but it must have been tasty to try. I don't eat much of it like Popeye does , but i don't have a problem eating it too since we are vegetarians. How about a salad? in European countries they do make a fresh salad out of it, they will just add some apple cider vinegar, pepper, sugar and salt into it and then eat it.

I don't like vegetables, most of the time they are cooked in such a way I cannot get the good healthy stuff from them anyway (I live in teh south) and I don't like th eway they taste. Spinach is okay with vinegar but I eat fruits instead of vegetables and salads for my vitamins and minerals.

When growing up I used to eat can spinach. Alot of people I know can't stand spinach from the can. I know my family does not like it at all. I really like it heated up and eaten with vinegar. I don't have this much any more but from time to time i will have. Most of the time we cook fresh spinach, lightly saute with olive oil, some butter garlic, it is very delicious. My husband can cook it just right. He is a great cook and does most of the cooking in the household. I also like fresh spinach in a salad.

We eat a lot of this and we eat it raw most of the time. I make salad with spinach, cranberries and blue cheese, then add a sweet dressing and some times pear, when I have them. This will make a main dish for dinner.
