Do you get taken up by a good book? I get so mad at myself, I can't put the Da** thing down. I know the story will still be there and the ending will not change, it defeats all reasonable thought. I use to do this when I worked and I would stay up until 3Am reading and have to get up at 6 to go to work. JUst had no self control and it's not much better now. Is this a problem you have? Maybe we need ARA Addicted Reader Anonymous ?

I do have the tendency to get lost in a good book. I will stay up to all hours of the morning reading a good book and trying to finish it. Once I get into a good story it is hard for me to stop reading it.

Sleep is overrated. Who needs sleep when there are so many books to read...LOL I love to read, and yes, I've been known to stay up late until the wee hours of the morning trying to finish a book, and then go to work, bleary-eyed. Yep, it is a form of addiction, unfortunately, I'm not open to intervention..LOL I'm a book addict and I'm proud of it..LOL

It happens to me all the time, I just keep on reading and reading even when I know that I ought to go to bed. The next day I am really tired, because I spent the night reading instead of sleeping and I promise myself that it won't happen again Next time I find another great book, and then I do the same thing again. My parents always tried to prevent me from reading all night, but they didn't succeed, and I just kept on reading after they had left. I think need to join ARA

Sometimes, I couldn't control myself just to finish a good book before I get to bed, even though I have to work the other day. I admitted there weren't many good books come around nowadays. Sometimes, I just want to read all of them once and all.

What is a "Da** thing"? Sorry for my ignorance. As for reading, I act in a diiferent way. If I start a really great book, I will be willing to finish it in one breath, but I won't stay up for it. Instead, I will save the rest for the next day, which probably will make tommorrow anohter exciting day! It's like saving delicious food for the next meal!

Where do I sign up? LOL I've been like this ever since I learned to read. Used to drive mother and later husband crazy. So I moved out of my mum's and sent the hub's off to work for weeks on end. I am now a very happy late night compulsive reader. ROFL

Yup, it happened before. I couldn't put the book down; even if I did, I couldn't sleep thinking about it. There was once that I finished reading a book at 5am; tried to go and sleep as I had to wake up by 6am. Ended up waking up at 11am, and called in sick!

i rarely read. but when i like the book i can't put the book down. i need to finish it off . sometimes i can read almost half of the book in one sitting. and the rest on the other day if the book is too thick for me to read in a day. sometimes i lose some sleep over some books cause they are very addictive and they contains so many interesting thoughts that i would like to absorb in as fast and as much as possible. but now i have not seen any books that would interest so it has been a while since i read book from cover to cover.

Its almost like you have to keep reading at that moment because you want to know know exactly what is going to happen next what is going to happen at the end. You place your self right in the book with the charcters and its almost your right there and you can't get out. The book holds you in. Theres been times I read before I go to bed it helps me relax. I get so into the book hours go by I found my self that I have fallen a sleep with the book. It make me mad in the morning though because i have to go back a page or two to see what happen. Because by falling asleep with the book after reading for hours I'd have to refresh my brain a page or two. I agree we need ARA Addiction Reader Anonymous.

Hey savypat! That's exactly happening to me every time I have a new book specially if it's really a page-turner. I would stay up all night reading. It only took me days to finish a good book. I'm a book collector and reading is really my hobby. Right now, I'm reading The Green Mile by Stephen King. My uncle bought me this book, not actually the type of books that I read but I'm enjoying it.

Frankly, Pat, this is an addiction I'm glad to have. I do lose a lot of sleep, but it's well worth it. Sometimes I wish I could take a day off from work to finish a book, but the guilt won't allow it!

I used to do it all the time. Drove me nuts. I'd try not to start a book until the weekend. Then if I got caught up, I could finish before the next work day. I started a romance once, (don't like romances, so I thought I'd be safe) it was 3 in the morning, I needed to get up at 9 am but couldn't sleep. I thought it would put me to sleep. Yeah, right!!! At 8:30, I was stuffing myself into clothes and still turning pages trying to get to the end!! Sad, sad, sad!

Normally, no I don't stay up late reading a book. When reading an exceptional book, I tend to read it more...and have, in fact, read a book in a day. ...just couldn't put it down. Nadine
