hello everybody here at Mylot. this morning i had to go out to run some errands, and my eleven year old son decided that he wanted to ride with me, so in the course of our errand running this morning, we stopped by Mrs. Winner's and purchased biscuits for breakfast. my eight year old son didn't want to ride with us, so we got him a biscuit to take home to give to him. so anyways, when we got back home today, i gave my eight year old son his sausage biscuit, well he ate about half of it then he dropped it and Doughnut, (our dog) smurfed over to where my son was and grabbed that biscuit up off of the floor in a second flat. lol it was funny, but it wasn't funny. so i have been calling Doughnut, Biscuit Lips all day today. haha so tell me, have you ever dropped a food item like that and have your dog or pet grab it and eat it? thanks for sharing and have a beautiful evening.

I had a good giggle when I read that!..That is exactly what I did as a child only more discretely. What I didnt want went under the table to the dog. If my mom caught on, then it was oops! I dropped it!!..

Ya..i would say..oops..u dropped that eh honey and I would wink at him..he would look at me and say..well mommy he likes it soooooo much.. I never scolded the kids if they did that..because it showed me what they didn't like so I wouldn't serve them that if they didn't like it..

My dogs would snap up any dropped food in the blink of an eye.. Your biscuit story reminds me of when I was a young girl on a family camping trip. I was sitting at a picnic table eating a left over biscuit from dinner and tossing small bits to a chipmonk. I was tossing the bits closer and closer to me in hopes to get it to take a bit from my hand. Something else caught my attention for a few minutes and I let my hand with the biscuit rest on my knee. Next thing I felt a funny nudge nudge on my leg and hand. The chip monk and run up my leg , grabbed the whole biscuit and ran off with it. It startled me so much I started to cry, I was mad at him for scaring me and steeling my biscuit.

LOL That tends to happen when there are dogs around. I remember the pup we had when i was a litle girl. I was not a steady toddler, and come to think of it, I am still not that steady on my feet (I walk with a cane) I was walking with a piece of cheese that I was going to eat, and i fell over. I dropped the cheese. The dang dog grabbed it, and ran!!!

I'm sure that it has occured where my dog ran away with my food. I cant think of any ocassions right now where that has happened but I'm sure that it has. My dog is a quick little thing and will often go after food etc. anything he sees.

How funny. Every dog we've had over the years is like a vacuum cleaner. When food hits the floor, it's gone. I wouldn't eat anything dropped on the floor anyway even if the 3 second rule applies. My husband feeds the dog bagels and wheat thins now constantly. It's not a good idea and then he wonders why the dog is gaining weight..lol

Hi TnWoman! haha..I could imagine the face of your son when Doughnut grabbed the biscuit! KInda funny yet not really funny at all especially when it is the last biscuit one have. I haven't experienced this personally but a cousin of mine did. I saw how his pet dog named Starsky grabbed the hotdog he was eating. He didn't dropped it but he was holding it with a fork while watching tv..the next thing he knew, his dog snatched the hotdog off from the fork! LOL! My cousin look at the empty fork, then look at us, then he cried! haha..that happened when we were still small. Take care and blessings to you! lovelots..faith

My mother had fried chicken one day, and there was a plate of fried chicken on the stove. My brother went to the stove to get a piece, but dropped it before he got to the table. Damien, the Rotti, saw a chance that he just could not pass by, he jumped and caught the piece of chicken before it even hit the floor. It was so funny. On another occasion, I had fixed my husband's plate, we were having corn beef that day. He was watching TV, and set his plate on the table to get something to drink. My cat Scoots saw an opportunity, she grabbed a slice of meat off of my husband's plate and ran. My husband was chasing her and she ran behind the couch and dropped it. I said, silly cat, you had it you should have eaten it, not drop it, that also was a funny scene.

Anything that falls on the floor is gone almost before it hits. I have one dog who's a real munch mouth. She will eat anything and everything. The good thing about it is when I need to pill her I just get out a spoon and put her pills in any food and she gets her treat. I have been using a bit of eggplant dip recently. It's low in calories and she loves it. Dumb dog. Eggplant is a vegetable, not a yummy treat.

My main worry is that I will drop something she shouldn't have, like chocolate or a raisin. I've been wondering how you came to call your dog doughnut? Its a wonderful unusual name.

When We used to have a dog that's what happened quite a few times, now we live by the 5 second rule, if it falls on the floor and it's only been there a few seconds we pick it up and eat it.

Food doesn't even hit the floor here..lol..my chihuahuas are quite the "air dogs" when it comes to food. LOL..they are watching very closely. If it leaves your hands..it's gone. Biscuit Lips sounds like a good name for him...LOL. Take care.

Hi Tn! Well I don't have a dog, but i do have a mooch for a cat! Her name is Kiki, but mostly I call her Mooch or Scrounge. The other day, my step-daughter and I make a delicious stir fry for dinner (her favorite!). We were sitting at the table enjoying it and the time together, when she jumped up and started pointing, but quietly. The cat was up on the stove (it was off, lucky her) and she stuck her nose right into that stir fry, pulled out a piece of chicke, jumped down with it in her mouth and proceded to enjoy that piece of chicken!! U wish I had a camera for it. Now i cover my food with a towel if I am not in the room. Have a great day yourself!

I have a siberian husky and is very very playful, whenever something rolls over her path or sees it like that, it's her toy definitely. She even loves to jump when birds fly around. I would often buy her new sets of balls to play with and the moment you drop the ball, lol, it's gone in 30 minutes.

Yes, this has happened to us. We have 4 babies that would love to have anything that we drop in the way of food. My rotti will not just go for it, he will wait until I tell him it's okay for him to get it. But the little ones they are quick and so not polite, lol. They all know to stay away from plates, but once it hits the floor they know they have the option of taking it and hopefully it's before another one grabs it.

I have had that happen a few times too LOL. I have a dog also and every now and then, we will pitch him a treat, so every time he sees something hit the floor, he thinks it is his LOL.

My dogs should be named Hoover and Eureka! They certainly keep the floors clean, you won't find a crumb anywhere in the house. Sometimes I'll "accidentally" drop something on the floor just to make them feel they've found a treasure.

Hey TnWoman! I think that's so cute that your dog got to enjoy what your son didn't want! I have cat's and they don't eat the same way dog's do! You can't just drop something on the floor and expect them to scoff it all up! They are more dainty eaters then dogs! I had alot of dogs in my life and they are really piggy eaters! They will eat anything that drops on the floor really fast! Cats are a bit more picky and slower eaters! Even if it is something that they love they will devore it much more slowly then a dog! The only thing my cat Luna will eat fast is ice cream! My cat Star won't touch it, but Luna will hear the freezer open and the plate and spoon clanging and he is ready to have his ice cream!
