Hey, ROOSTER BOY! What's with the wind swept comb-over???

Gotta love the comb-over rooster look! - God bless the erratic wind blown comb-over! Hours and hours of laughter for us all!

Seriously, what's the deal with these men that seem to think it's OK to do the old "plaster the hair to the head" trick, just to cover up their baldness??? Wouldn't you just shave your hair real close to the scalp and leave it at that? I saw a guy walking on the street yesterday and the wind had given him the comb-over lift that we all love! You know the one right? It's when the wind lifts their comb-over OFF their heads and it stands straight up or flys off to one side! They kinda resemble a rooster that's just received shock aversion therapy! Is it really THAT bad to be bald that people think they need to resort to the comb-over? Do they not realize how silly it looks???? Are you like me and burst into fits of giggles when you see a comb-over? Do you suddenly start praying for a gale force wind like I do, just so the electricified rooster can appear? Anyways, I've provided you with a pic too, just to refresh your memories!

Oh yeah! One of my favorite's is the wrap around. I've only seen it a few times and usually on older men but they take this extrmemly long piece of hair and wrap it around their head to cover the baldness and paste it down Hilarious! Get a razor buddy! LOL

Gotta love the wrap around. It's kind of like an organic turban of sorts! I just don't understand how these people are not realizing how stupid it looks. Why go "The Trump" and look like a tosser, when you could go the Yul Brynner and make a stand! lol.

I would rather see a bald head, personally. Actually, I kind of like bald heads. Especially the ones that are naturally bald. There's just something about that soft, smooth skin that just does something to me.

No, Thank you. I have a real live man who is balding..........and the right way, if you ask me. And, he keeps what hair he does have short, so no chance of him doing a comb over. Besides, he likes having his head rubbed, so I don't think he minds going bald.

lol..I never thought of this.....because my dad has a combover.....it's not like the one in the pic....but yeah he has (or had) one. I THINK he doesn't have it anymore.....but I remember he did have it earlier. And we (my sister and I) never realized it...or else we would have teased him about it. Shucks! Missed the chance. But be sure I'll notice the next time I meet him and bring up the topic. He's bound to have some valid (read silly) reason for it!

Goodness me! Yet another friend that has a relative that embraces or once embraced the comb-over! At first I was getting quite concerned about being offensive, but then I reminded myself that this is a comb-over for God's sake! How can we NOT see this as an amusing act on behalf of a baldie? The only reasoning for someone having one that I can think of, is that they truly believe that it's more masculine than being bald; and that no-one will notice! Poor delusion souls! lol. But then again, maybe there are some out there that are SO good, I never noticed!

LOL My Granddad did the old comb over thing - it was amazing how long his hair was on one side just so he could comb it over! lol He would have been 90 last month if he were still alive and I think it is a generational thing as both my brother shaved their heads when they started balding! The secret is tonnes of stopping the rooster effect is to use loads of Brylcreem 0 it is slavered down so hard nothing would lift it off! hee hee hee xxxxxx

I may be messed in the head at times, but I'm not THAT messed in the head! I could actually get away with something like that I think as my hair is long at the moment! Nah, as much as I'd love to attract all the ladies with a comb-over, I think I'll leave it to the experts!

God bless the Brylcreem! Giving men the opportunity to create their own fashionable forms of organic motorcycle helmet strength comb-overs for decades! I'm sure it IS a generational thing, yes. Most of the men that you do see with comb-overs are usually over 50 from my experience and I certainly don't ever recall seeing a young guy with one! (Although I have to admit I'd LOVE to see that!)

My dad used to be a comb-over guy. It horrified me...uggghhh! Worse, he used spray it down with Aquanet, horrifying me even more. I soon learned that Aquanet really worked and he knew how to use it to prevent the random rooster occurrence. I grew to accept the Aquanet but never the comb-over. Swimming with a man sporting a comb-over is quite an experience as well. Scars from my childhood over this one..... sniff, sniff.... I'm afraid I'm not ready to talk about it just yet. Thanks for adding the picture for our giggling pleasure.

That picture looks just like the back of my brother in laws head..lol He wears a comb over also. My brother started losing his hair in his twenties when he was in the Marines. He shaves his head all the time now but he does grow a beard often. Some men look great bald but I have seen some that I would rather see a rooster comb over on then to see them bald...

Umm, I doubt a modeling agency would take my brother in law. Maybe for a hair replacement one of a before picture...lol Once we seen a man who was in his 50's shave his head and he had a dark tan and his head was so pale it looked funny as hel..l so advice would be to shave your head before all the tanning sessions not after..

It does? He's not moonlighting as a model then is he? Your Brother's got the right idea I reckon and a shaved head does look better than the average comb-over. I'm yet to see a comb-over that defies this belief, but I'll take your word for it that some baldies should be considering it!

A gusty gale is definitely a blessing too if we get to see a bit of comb-over rooster boy action! But women do have the better option with the scarves. These guys could still wear a hat or a bandana though!

I thought you just sneaked in my album to get this pic of my father. He has been sporting this rooster style since his late forties. and guess, what he is very diligent in combing and covering the left long hair over his bald middle. Funnily the left hair strand is longer than the right side. The length helps in covering up the the bald portion. We sisters have always wondered why on earth take such a trouble! But just wouldn't let go the few strands of salt and pepper left!

I seriously can't understand why people get worried over their baldness!! Specially men. I mean c'mon people baldness is In now!! How can you NOT understand that?? According to me some men look really good, hot and bold when they are bald!! If you have little built then you can easily get those army returned looks!!! It is clearly the lack of confidence that's it. People need t get over it. Even women are so open to baldness . Some women thinks its a big fashion statement..
@James72 (26790)

I don't understand it either! Just shave the damn head and walk out with confidence I reckon. I'm not losing my hair in any significant way, yet I've gone completely bald before and loved it! Men that DO go for the comb-over, must have a completely inaccurate idea of what people are going to think of them. It's the comb-over that makes them stand out and look silly in most instances anyway! Shaving their heads would actually draw LESS attention to themselves.

It is so silly to do a comb over. I can understand moving the part an inch or so to the side, but when a man get bald he should just deal with it and cut his hair really short. It is much sexier than a com over. Remember Kojack (sp) fro TV? All the old ladies were in love with him and he was totally bald. They thought he was ultra sexy.

I do remember Kojak, yes! Telly Savalas right? I agree that the shaven look is far more appealing and definitely less obvious than a comb-over too! It's quite silly really, these men go for the comb-over to try to hide the fact that they're balding, yet the comb-over attracts more attention to this very fact! Go figure.....

I personally would be going for shaving aswell, better to get rid of it all in once in my opinion. I have a close friend who is in his early twenties and he has inherited some kind of gene that causes him to go bald very young. He has decided to trim down his hair aswell, thank god . However, I do feel people should feel free to do as they please. I just think the chances of getting embarresed is bigger with this hairdo.

I couldn't agree more cyberfluf! There is no way in the world I'd consider a comb-over if I started losing a lot of hair and I'd go straight for the shaved head look imnmediately. It helps tp have a decent shaped skull though! Sure, freedom of choice and all that too, but a comb-over really does look silly and I have no idea why men that have them don't seem to realise this.

My husband started shaving his head about 7 years ago. The comb over just did not look right and we both agreed. He thought about getting a toupee but that sounded stupid to me. He shaved his head and took years off his looks. Being bald made him actually look much younger and more distinquished. He had a moustache too which I loved but that had to go as it too made him look older and strange without hair. I love how he looks now. Much nicer and very handsome to me

Me too, lynne! lol. God knows what's going through their minds when they decide to do this, but I guess they're so insecure about losing their hair that they think thisd is a way to appease that. The interesting thing is that hair loss is related to high levels of testosterone! So this guys are arguably more "manly" in that sense than people with a full head of hair! Go figure.

I just had to chime in here. Actually I wish it was socially acceptable for women to be bald. I am 'blessed' with a thick head of hair. Unfortunately I suffer from migraines and the weight of my hair seems to trigger or at least aggravate the problem. I keep my hair cut as short as possible but sometimes I really would like to just take it all off.

Heya savak. I've seen a number of bald women before actually, but the immediate assumption is that they've been through chemo or something traumatic. I've not heard of hair triggering migraines before, but it doesn't sound very nice at all. Maybe one day you'll give the bald head a try just for the heck of it! This would mean that you could wear wigs and then have whatever style you feel, whenever you like!

Mykl is right on... no grace to it. Either deal with the changing hair style or shave. I deal because the last time I shaved my head it was because the meds i was on was likely to have it fall out and I didn't want to scare my kids.... that was 12 years ago now. I was a scarf wearer after that so I didn't look like a guy with a bra stuffing condition.

I couldn't agree more. My hair's kinda longish at the moment and I do have slightly thinning sections on my temples, but if I started to get bald spots on top, then off it all comes. I've shaved my head completely bald in the past too and it was great! I couldn't get away with a scarf though I don't think. Maybe a bandana! Although the meds you were on sound pretty strong, I'm happy to hear you didn't resemble a "manboober" at the time too!
