First of all let me say that I really enjoy country music, so I consider myself knowledgeable about this genre. I think most of the contestants had no clue about this type of music until they had to pick a song. I was very surprised by Anoop's performance and think he was one of the best last night. Michael made a mistake trying to do the Garth Brooks song because it was just too big a song for him to tackle even though he said he likes country music. I know he could have picked a better song that would have suited him better. Poor Lil ( or Little as Simon says ) She should have put some of her own style into the song. Adam Lambert is certainly entertaining, but I think he kept to his style and did a good job. It was not country, but it was ok. Sorry I don't remember the girl with short blonde hair's name, but she didn't even do as good with "Jolene" as Brooke White did last year. She could have, but tried too much of a spin with it. Kris Allen was very good. I think he made a good decision to not use his guitar last night. This allowed him to showcase his smooth voice. He had a very good performance. The girl with the flu should have stayed in the hospital. The rest were ok and some of them were very good. We will have to watch tonight and see who goes home!

here's my take, since the result has already came out, this group has enough singers it will be a pain to watch elimination nights, last season, i don't really care, as long as mj, dc remains... 1. i'm still hearing brooke white's version of jolene. so, i think alexis grace version did not really make enough mark to make people pick up their phones, heck they did it for brooke. alexis was a judges' favorite, m not sure if she has enough fans though. 2. michael sarver is a decent singer, decent, if i'm in a bar and i hear him sing, i will definitely listen, but my oh my, even if america vote for him to top 2, would america really rush to buy his songs. 3. i like matt giraud, he reminds me of elliot, unassuming, grinning, looks like has enough sense of humor to comment on danny's parachute jacket. i just don't agree that he outsang danny, and i don't really support danny 4. but danny, has enough soul for me to get interested and admit that the judges struck gold, even if he don't make it to the top, he created enough stir to keep people curious... i really find him awkward on stage, but i can just listen. 5. i'm sorry kris allen, you are probably one of the nicest guy america has seen even outside idoldom, but i don't really feel you, i do want to like you, but i don't think i'll remain interested listening to your songs. 6. lil... i wish her well 7. allison is a younger kelly clarkson, so really she will sell, maybe if she gets rid of the weirdness and look to people eye to eye, like tune in her internal frequency during interview where america is watching. 8. adam, i do hope there's other way to like him, but maybe i just have to accept that he will squeal in every song. maybe i can, acquired taste, yeah, i will give room for adam and kris 9. my mother likes scott mcintyre so no bad words from me, maybe i just don't dig the slow, inspirational song that has not much range. i love more intensity in an inspirational song. the conviction. just not feeling it. yet 10. megan!!! sorry guys, but she entertained me last tuesday, the flu worked, the nasal sound is appealing, she sounds like an old record playing in a turntable. 11. anoop, love him for redeeming himself, he is my favorite, yeah like i haven't said that at least twice here hehehe (i would have liked danny but the judges already like him, he has enough love already...) i'm an r&b fan, maxwell, brian mcknight, boyzIImen, so i mean naturally, he got my attention, same way for matt giraud... i do prefer the short line he sang to randy travis. chills... and honestly simon was GUSHING when he was commenting on anoop...

I think when it all comes down to it the girls do not have a chance this year..there are too many guys above and beyond...and personally I would like to see Megan be the next to go bye bye

Mathurin, I think that is a great summary of Tuesday night. I guess since the president is pre-empting our Idol night next week, we will have to wait until Wednesday to get another view of our favorites.

I think the best performance of the night is Anoop's. And that one is certainly unexpected. I'm not a big Adam Lambert fan. For me, he's just too exaggerated with his performance. And I didn't like what he did to that Johnny Cash song. But oh well, I don't see him going country anyway. The performances from Lil, Alexis (the short haired girl who sang Jolene) and Megan (the one with the flu) are just okay. The judges weren't impressed with Scott's performance but I loved it. I also like the song from Kris. I wonder who gets the boot tonight..

my brother stopped what he was doing for adam so i guess he appeals to other tastes... maybe not the usual family tv sound... i don't know johnny cash's ring of fire... so i don't know how to react compared to that song, but i can't understand a word to whatever he was singing, he created a buzz though, and i think he succeeded... i mean we don't really feel him but we talk about him... i expect anoop to nail ballads, especially without the distracting back up singers, look at the effect when they minimized the back up... pure, clean, intense...

I didn't see the whole show that night but saw a snippet of what Adam did to ring of fire and said no no no...somebody had to go out and rebury johnnie after that performance cause he was after Adam...but my friend saw it with me and she said she thought johnny would of been proud of him and happy with the performance because johnny was always a risk taker and that is what Adam did

Jabeau, I agree for the most part with your assessment of last nights performances. Althought I believe they had to send someone out to the cemetary to re-cover Johnny's grave after he kicked it all off, Adam's rendition of Walk the Line was innovative and he did what the judges always ask the competitors to do and that is to make it their own. Lil should really pay more attention to what the judges are telling her. Se would have brought the house down with a good rendition of I Will Always Love you and with her range and set of pipes could have run a good race with Whitney's version. Michael's mistake wasn't choosing a Garth song but rather the Garth song he chose. I believe he would have nailed somethng like If Tomorrow Never Comes ot The Dance. This year has the most talent of any season, bar none! Every year we see a few standouts like Carrie, Doughtry or Cook but this year they are all great. My pick for elimination is ironically the one who should have shined in this genre and that is Michael. I pick him over the girl who has the flu simply because of that. She did an adequate job while being sick and Michael was well and blew it.

Rodney, I agree that Michael could have done another Garth song just not the one he chose. I think that Lil should have done How Do I Live Without You. It would have shown her range.

Hi JAB! I tend to agree that this was a tough week for the contestants. It usually is, and it's tough on me too, because I'm not really a fan of the genre, so the songs have a hard time keeping my interest. I always watch with interest, for this show because I think it really shopws you how versitile the contestants are, and how they react under pressure! I will agree with you assesments to Michael and Adam. Michael did very well, and Adam had a weird song, but I liked him anyway. Lil' is usually great,k but this was NOT her thing, and I also did not care for Alexis' preformance. She could be in trouble, but she is popular. I think the big surprise was Anoop! I knew the song, and I really enjoyed his voice, he even did as godd as fan-fave Danny in my humble opinion. What do I know though?? I think Meghan is getting the boot this week... Have a great day!

i actually hope megan stays, michael can go... sorry but let's just be honest he won't sell pop eh... i really find her singing yesterday an unrefined 40s 50s style... if only somebody teaches her to maximize on what she can do... she can raise up her range a bit more... she wasn't restraining yet...

Adam Lambert was still entertaining and captivating, as far as I'm concerned. Anoop did better than he did last week, but I wouldn't say he's the best of the night. I can't predict who would get kicked next though.

I agree that Adam is entertaining, but at some point he needs to do a ballad so we can see if he can do it without all the Hooplah.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. I really liked Chris last night too, and was quite impressed with Anoop, I thought this was his best to date. I also really liked Matt. I think Michael and Lil both made bad song choices. That song did not suit Lil very well. She didn't do terribly, but I think she would have been a lot better singing something else, although I hope she does not end up in the bottom for it. Michael showed a song that was hard to memorize and showed that he can sing a lot of words very fast, but that is not really a song that hi-lights one's vocals. I am afraid that song might have really hurt him. But we shall see what happens tonight.
