Do you think that the tasks and the true essence of mylot do not go together?

I am essentially a confused kind..lol - I am confused.

Tasks are good - a great way to distribute incentives. They are means to earn more here and I really appreciate. However, I find, that they not only take up a great deal of time but also leave us with a more objective mind frame. Nothing wrong with it but I feel, the proactive interactions on mylot might deter due to this. This is solely my thoughts though and I can always choose my priority. And I think doing both simultaneously is something I would not be comfortable with at the end of it all. What is your opinion? Happy mylotting.

i think that it is just fine to those tasks. so that we can have some extra earnings. i think that tasks are time consuming as you would say but it is still worth it. of course it will affect our activity in participating in discussion. but tasks are not available every day and so i think that we still have lots of time to be active on discussions. i have not left discussions because of those tasks but we have to do the tasks first if they are available cause it is first person to grab it will get it. and so when we are done with the task we just get back to participating on discussions. i will not leave discussions cause here i get to participate on good discussions and get to learn so many things. it has been such a great help for me to be actively posting in discussions. it is fun actually. though the task is more like a work than fun but still great to do. cause work in task is fulfilling too.

I really appreciate your response. I only regret more spare time so that I acn participate in both. Tasks need to be grabbed first and by the time I finish with those I need a break for the switch over and this take time. Had there been no time factor I would not have any problem at all. And also I fear some user whom I love to interact with get less active in participating in discussions. Happy mylotting.

Even I find the instructions lengthy and not quite clear. It took me long to understand it. The tasks are also easier for people residing in US and since they release it according to their time by the time we wake up we are left with only a few..

Personally in my opinion i would very much agree with you. I have always considered mylot to a very special place to interact, make friends and learn. At the same time it was enjoyable and i have had a lot of fun. The earnings were an incentive to keep me going. I did not look at this site from a monetary point of view. The tasks are to be done from an objective frame of mind and require a concentrated effort. With the discussions it is has been expressing one's mind, whether it be a serious subject, something simple or just having plain fun. While there are those who might be of the opinion that one may decide not to choose the tasks, it does not apply to one and all. I say this for the reason that the monetary incentive in the tasks is higher, as such it does attract people towards it. A lot of interactive people may be swayed towards it. Ii would prefer to do such tasks in another forum at a time when i choose to. For the last few days i have logged in and instead of checking in on the discussions of friends which i do first, i must admit i have been guilty of going to the tasks tab. I need to check myself for sure.

You need not be guilty Alok. I think tasks are good if we can more time but my time alloted for myLot is being eaten up by tasks. . And one thing I must clarify I am not anti task. In fact the time I spent there I managed around 2 dollars which is great! But switching over took time. May be that's to more with my orientation. There are many who can do that quick. There are several queries about task tough, which will require another discussion.

It's about the frame of mind that you have so rightly put across. The switching over is not easy. When i am in the frame of mind of mylotting, i find tasks which i get tempted to do, and when i look for the the tasks, there are none, and some good discussions around with my mind being in task mode. And niether am I against it for I too have earned from it. You too have made $2 and that is great. There are a lot of queries and points in mind on the tasks, and i do look forward to your discussion on it.

Exactly! Sometimes, even when there a lot of things going on in myLot, I just lose it all! Because of the task mind frame and vice versa. And I also find that my time in mylot is being eaten up by the tasks. At the end of the day we have a few hours of 24 to dedicate to online chit chats.

Hi Mimpi! As you know Mylot contains a mixture of personalities. I can say that a sizable percentage of mylotters are here exclusively for the money. You take away the money part and can see the volume of membership falling down drastically. It is good news for those enthusiastic earners. And as you say we have our own priorities and choices to do whatever we like here. And there are days where you hardly come across any interesting discussion and your brain is refusing to get any ideas for new ones. We can always go to a new task then.

QUALITY TIME MANAGEMENT AND PAYOUT ISSUES What I did was, I allocate a special time for it and must not more than one (1) hour for every participation. Actually, it depends on one member how to get it done and thoroughly understand its operating system with its payout system. All tasks payment do accumulate and disbursement will be made with our myLot minimum payout.

Hi mimpz! I agree tasks would help some of us here to earned extra and I've noticed when there are many tasks to do, some of the friends here are not that active doing mylotting. And to be honest I've tried to do 2 tasks, but I don't really know how to do it properly and find it hard to finish it, so I just forfeited both and just enjoying my time responding to some discussions.

Since I only get a few hours to come here, it gets difficult to balance the two. I wish I could get little more time. And tasks really require a good deal of time. The instructions are cumbersome and searches are very long. Its a good thing for people who are online 24 hours and I thank mylot for this new thing. Fr some it would be helpful.

I am of the opinion that whatever tasks people opt to fulfill, they would also come back to mylot discussion.I agree that if we start work on some task we would be busy in that area for some time. But all this while, even without these tasks mimpi,we were doing soemthing else also apart from mylot .That would only decrease the intensity of typing answers , but it would not be a total deterrent, for one thing there are many members in proportion to the tasks, and we do not know how many would take them.I , for example, have not chosen even one till date. But ,, as such I was a bit busy for the past two days with extra household work etc., and could not respond vigorously in my lot through the day.Even earlier, I USED TO WRITE SOEMOTHER ASSIGNMENTS.bUT , I will peep into mylot and keep answering some discussions.THe frequency may reduce, but I would not like to lose touch with my friends here. And now, what happened to my last question in that other discussion?Shall I look for an auspicious date to start music lessons? You have hidden yourself and the virus protected you mmm!

We can compartmentalize our jobs and allot different times for both. Tasks require intense searching and some do not cater to the criteria. You really have to go beyond 3-4-5 pages!! I felt quite accomplished actually after I could manage a few but then it took me a while to switch over to the discussions here. I am no way anti task and I am sure we all have our ways to do it. PS: I am almost done with the virus thing and then we can start it!

Personally I have no interest at all in the tasks provided. My biggest worry when I read about these "tasks" coming, was that mylot would end up going down some silly path like Platinum Lounge or something and this would end up becoming the primary focus over time. If this HAD of happened and the essence of this site had been lost as a result, then I would have been quite upset about it for sure! But this was NOT the case, so I'm happy on that front! I think the tasks are great for those people that ARE here to earn an extra buck or two and as long as mylot never take away from the discussion starters and responders, (Or rob Peter to pay Paul so to speak!) then I have no issues with it at all. It's just not for me is all.

I do not think that will ever happen. If myLot compromises with the participation in discussions just to lure us to tasks I think it will lose its reputation and proactive users. Even I do not have any issues but switching over takes time for me, I cannot compartmentalize my emotions and that's what bugging me. I wish I had more time to spare.

I think introduction of tasks added a new dimension. But after few days I think it is no more for us. I have heard about midnight in IST, they are posted. They are gone much before we login here. But it is something that has only objective of money. there is no essence of discussion.

I agree subha. Mylot must post some during their night time when we start our day. Many remain deprived for the tasks are accepted and gone very soon. Tasks are good who want to earn and if he has time and its indeed agreat move on the part of the forum.

In my case I did 22 tasks and finished it on time. I am happy that all 21 tasks have been approved and paid for to my account and very thankful to Mylot. But after I did that I still look forward in posting in here as I guess became a habit for me to post and reply in here has become a part of the system for me. The new task for me is just an addition for me to be more involve in here. There is no conflict of some form to it in my own opinion. It may defocus myself from the routine but I foremost welcom its addition to the current system.

hi mimpi dear! I do get your point and I do agree with you. I noticed that I received fewer email notifications from mylot nowadays and I guess, friends are busy completing their tasks and have neglected making discussions. LOL! I have completed one task already a few days ago but as much as I would love to add more to my earnings, I don't really enjoy the task at the moment..I enjoy the discussions more with friends here. I guess, I might do some tasks again soon but for now, I will stick with the discussions for awhile. Take care and blessings to you! lovelots..faith

I think plenty of people are still going to strongly prefer having discussions here on myLot rather than doing tasks. It even remains to be seen if there are going to be tasks available all the time, and posting and tasking are such different activities. Even if there will usually be tasks available a-plenty, people who love having discussions here and have friends here won't stop posting. I also don't think new people are going to stop wanting to be involved in our community. While I suppose some people who are tired of posting (I find I have to take vacations from myLot every so often because I run out of things to talk about) will concentrate more on tasks, we may also get more myLotters who originally join the site after hearing about tasks but then stick around because they get into posting.

I think mylot is being wise in introducing this. This will definitely attract new users and also the users who were thinking of digressing from the site. And we all have different priorities and can hang on to our choices at the end of the day. Thanks.

Hi mimpi! I was excited at the prospect of something new on MyLot and when the tasks started I went it and had a look and personally I find them time consuming and the time I do have I like to spend writing which is my passion and interacting with people by participating and starting discussions which is what MyLot is all about so I made my choice. What worries me a little is that a lot of the good people here may choose to break away from posting in order to attend to the tasks.

I agree with you. One requires creating words to please. Another involves expressing yourself through words. totally different. Here on the discussion board, we dont write to please anyone, but to discuss and help, or seek help. Along the way, if we earn some cents, then fine. But I doubt people here discuss and interact with only the cents in mind. Am I making cents? lol There, with the tasks, on the other hand, it is more like a competition to please because you are writing purely for the money. Nobody would do those tasks if there was no monetary element involved. What I did was switch off from the discussions here to work on the tasks. I simply cannot do both simultaneously - brain and heart seldom work together ;-)

At first I was thinking like you are when this tasks were offered but then i gave it a try and really enjoyed it especially when almost all of my task submitted were approved. Did it hamper my mylot posting and responding? Well it really did not affect my response since I still continued my usual posting and joining in many interesting discussion in here. The task was just an ice breaker for me from the usual things we do in here. But in the end the usual mylot discussion is still my preferred thing to do in here and task did little to stop me from posting. what changed was how I was earning before the tasks were introduced.

You are very much right, indulging in mylot tasks and at the same time participating in various discussions, started by dear friends here, will also not be feasible for me. I would much rather concentrate my energies on the discussions rather than solving any kind of tasks here for the sake of earnings. I know that if I continue to write quality responses to some good discussions, I can not only put forth my views to others and can understand theirs, but also I can earn few cents. After all, for me earning on mylot is secondary and interaction with dear friends carry more importance for me. dpk P.S. - Have a great day and great evening.

They do take up a great deal of time dont they? I cant do them at the same time but they can be a good distraction. Especially when the discussions on every page just dont give us that much interest to respond to it during that time. The tasks kinda break the monotony of responding and starting discussions especially when the responder or discussion creator takes a few hours or some time before replying back. So in between waiting for the two, the tasks can keep us busy.^_^ I still stick with the good old discussions. Lots of different opinions and varying intellectual property.
