Best Movies Of All Time

Has anyone seen "Citizen Kane"? I've heard so much about this movie my whole life, about how it was such a feat of cinematic genius. And how it is just the best and most epic film ever made. I recently watched this movie and much to my horror it was the most boring waste of time that i have ever had the missfortune to watch. I have found that a lot of these so called "classic" movies are really not too much in the way of entertainment. What other "classic" movies have you been dissapointed with?

For it's time Citizen Kane is a master piece which has so many different elements to it. But here is the thing compared to many modern movies it can seem boring. I have heard the same thing said about The Godfather, that it is overly long and boring, but for me I absolutely love it. It all boils down to what you want from a movie and quite often the old classics tend to be drama based with huge performances rather than about the action or the effects, etc For me the classic movie which disappointed me the most is Romeo & Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio. It seriously bored me senseless. I feel the same about The Jerk as well, I just didn't find it funny.

Classics that I have watched but was disappointed in would be anything by Alfred Hitchcock. Guess that after Criminal Minds, everything else seem bland....

Like others have mentioned Classics are classics because they give something to the film industry or they are a new message at the time. I remember liking Citizen Kane when I saw it. Star Wars literally gave us the beginnings of special effects (remember seeing Skywalker sound credited on anything you have seen lately?) plus it was a good story. Street Car named Desire, Dr. Zhivago, and Casablanca come to mind as three I was disappointed in when I watch them but I may have been too young to understand them at the time. And I just flat don't like Film Noir so I am not fond of those as classics.

i have never seen this movie. i love older movies though. i find them very interesting because you get to see what things were like in a different era and some of the actors and actresses were just beyond talented. not like today when most are nothing more than celebrities stepping into acting roles they don't deserve or are not qualified for. there are alot of great older movies. last night i caught a good portion of GUESS WHOSE COMING TO DINNER? which i had never seen but it was interesting to see the conflict at that time in the late 60's and the acting was really good. i guess it is all a matter of opinion and likes and dislikes just like everything else. i think the one classic i was disappointed in was WUTHERING HEIGHTS. just did not see the allure in that movie or the book for that matter.

That's a shame that you didn't understand Citizen Kane. It has such a powerful message for human nature. I can't say that I've ever been disappointed with the classics and those deemed as one of the top 100 films of all time. I've not seen them all but the ones I have seen were very worth it. One of my all time favorite classics would have to be 12 Angry Men with Henry Fonda. It was a wonderful adaptation of the play. Namaste-Anora

I think my favourite was The Secret garden but the original version with Margaret O'Brien in it, I love that movie but recently after seeing Nanny McPhee, I think this has got to be the best movie ever...A modern classic i think

I dont think I ever watch Citizen Kane all the way through it just doesnt do anything for me. as for classic movies that I dont like that much, I guess I am not a major fan of either Casablanca or Star Wars. I think alot of classic movies have a core group of fans and others that are around are not that hot.

One movie that I watched on tv that has gotten a four star rating from a local movie revie show was "Much A Do About Nothing". I watched it because Michael Keaton was on it, I liked his movie Batman. The movie turned out to be a boring Shakespeare movie.
