Update on my son

I finally have a minute. Bryan had surgery on the the 19th. They were able to correct his curve from 108% to 38%. It was a 12 hour surgery. He did great after the surgery. He did not seem to be in alot of pain or even scared. It has been quite an experience after getting home last Wed.. Overall things have gone ok, but it has been rather nerve racking. We go to the doctor tomorrow, as he is bleeding just a bit from his incision. We pray it is not starting infection, but want it checked out anyway. Keep praying that things go well. We are far from being on the safe side of things. I appreciate all the positive energies and prayers from everyone. He is keeping us quite busy.

I shall keep prayingg that all continues to go well for Bryan. Sometimes there is a slight leakage from incisions after surgery but it is best to have it checked out.

Congratulations on your son. I think that is wonderful. It is really miraculous what can be done with surgery today. I hope that he will live a normal life and be able to do what he can with his limitations. I think that there will be a life to live and he will be happy with it.

Oh my, that IS a huge difference in curvature! Bless his heart, this will make his life a lot different once he's back to feeling better and the strains from surgery are over. I'm sure he is keeping you busy; 'Mom' is the hardest job there is sometimes, and I'm sure he needs a whole lot of extra care and TLC. Take care of yourself and don't run yourself too thin. I think we are all keeping on praying for him. X = a Mom-to-Mom hug for you!

The leaking was a blood pocket, but under that is trying to start an infection. He took cultures and we have to go back Friday. If it is still looking bad it looks like we are heading to an operation again. It is draining pretty bad. I just hope we have caught it in time.

I'm so glad to hear that the operation went well and most of all that the patient seems to be on his way to recovery. I just hope that the bleeding isn't something serious. In spite of being very busy you sound rather relieved. Tons of positive vibes keep going your way. XXX Dana

I am sure that busy is a very mild description of how you feel. Wounds to continue to bleed a bit, especially if the patient moves around a lot, but you are wise to have it checked. I would not want to see him have a serious infection.

It was a blood pocket and under that it is trying to start an infection. They have us packing and changing it. It is draining pretty bad. We go back Friday and it sounds like if it is not getting better, we will be going back into surgery.

I will continue to hold your son in my prayers and thoughts, Thoroughrob. I'm glad he's doing well. If you know the signs of infection they are pretty easy to spot, but there's nothing like getting a doctor's opinion.

If it is infection, it is down in. They did cultures and opened it for drainage.

Wow that's a major improvement. It is nerve racking for any parent. I can only imagine your agony, but thankfully, things are looking good. It might just be a loose stitch, but the doctor will know what to do. We will all pray for his speedy recovery.

I hope that you remember to breathe my friend. Breathing is a good way to settle those frayed nerves. Glad to hear that the surgery went well. I don't blame you for wanting to check out the bleeding that has occurred. Infection is something that you don't mess around with. You know that you and Bryan will be in my prayers. Big huggers to you!

Bryan is 14. They have found a blood pocket and some fluid behind the pocket that doesn't look too good. They have us packing it and letting it drain. It is really a big mess. Please pray that things get better and we don't have to do another surgery.

Well i must congratulate you that your son is doing great after his surgery. A surgery in home is always stressful for everyone in the family and countless hours are spend with doctors, trying to understand the disease and praying that everything goes all right and not to speak of money and physical and mental stress everyone has to go through. I am happy that your son is ok and it is one month old discussion so i guess he would be 100% recovered by now.

Actually he is not. He developed an infection and had 2 more surgeries since. We are back home but on IV antibiotics and they say he could be on them for up to a year. Please pray that he is back to himself soon.
