Would you cut your own hair?

I used to do this all the time. And I mean short haircuts from long hair. But now I am timid about it. I don't know why, it's just hair and it will grow back. ANd if I mess up the layers a bit I can always say that's the style....cause I've seen some crazy ones out there.
How about you guys? Do you snip your own locks?

Yes, it does save money...unless it's that once a year thing when you're mom takes you to the salon for your birthday. lol

No I don't, but my fiance cuts my hair. I don't like going to a professional when my fiance can cut just as even as they can, sure he won't get paid for it, but we won't have to spend money on it either!

Some people just put their hair in a pony tail and cut the pony tail. I guess that might work for people with thinner hair, but with thick hair it's not that easy! No problem on responding, thanks for commenting me back!

It's been about that for me, going to the salon that is. I usually cut it when it is long.
I don't trust the stylist anyhow. Many times I come out thinking I could have done it better myself.
Thanks for responding.

The only time I was ever crazy enough to do that was when I used to shave it off. However, now that I do go for that whole Mr. Clean look, absolutely not. I'd rather pay someone to do it so I at least have a chance at it looking nice.

I guess you have to have that certain touch and creative cutting skills. I get it from my mom I guess...she was the same way.
Thanks for responding.

I always cut my own hair plus hubby's, two sons and some friends.
Although I must admit hubby and sons are really not much of a challenge. They all wear it very short so it's just a matter of using the right blade to buzz it off!
Last summer we were out on the patio and I was cutting my oldest sons hair and my neighbor walked over and asked me if I would care to trim his up. He was so pleased he keeps coming back! Maybe I should accidetally slip up so I can reduce my clients! LOL
I always knew I was in the wrong business! I have no training but it's really just a matter of getting over the fear. As they all will tell you I have no fear of cutting hair. They might but I don't!
I haven't messed anyone up beyond repair.......YET! LOL

You have to have the touch. Obviously you should have been a cosmotolegist. Go back to school for it then you make some extra money for sure.
Thanks for responding.

My mother usually cuts my hair and she is pretty good at it. I have long hair, so it isn't too difficult to cut it. I don't cut my own hair. I have done it once and I will never do it again, because the result was definately not very pretty. I was embarrassed because it looked like my younger brother had been playing with the scissors
I dye my hair and I am not the least afraid of that because I have done it lots of times. But I would never cut my own hair again!

Yes I have done that a few times before, I use two mirrors when I am cutting my hair. Everybody said that my hair looks great and when I tell them that I cut my own hair, they can't believe me!
My friend's sister also tried with five mirrors but ended up screwing up her own hair so she went to the salon to get her hair fixed.

I agree. It will grow back. A few years ago when I was going through my 'alternative' stage I let my litle brother cut my hair. I believe he would have been about nine years old. He did an ok job, just a basic cut. I was happy with it and he had a blast, as he really likes hair dressing and makeup and all of that. I also agree with your comment about if you mess it up, you can just pass it off as a wacky style. In some hairdressing books I've seen assymetrical fringes and cuts that look like they've been cut by a four year old!
All that you would have to do is put some product in it, put on some makeup and off you go with your funky haircut!
You're probably scared to do it now because you're older and feel the pressure to take y ourself more seriously. I personally don't cut my own hair anymore (or let my little brother do it!) because I just love going to the hairdresser. It is so pampering to sit there while people play with my hair and bring me cups of tea. I can read the trashy magazines while I wait for my colour to set and then the scalp massage you get when they're shampooing your hair is just heavenly! It's the best thing in the whole world!
