During these tough economic times it may be a little hard for someones business to do well. While there is alot of ways to make money, either online or offline, I ask which is better for you? I myself have done both online as well as offline and I would have to say they each have their own obstacles to overcome. I would likt to know, what are some things about earning or running your own business that are most difficult for you and what have you done to beat these challenges?

Working for myself off-line brings in more income for me than working on-line does. I like to do both though and not have all my eggs in one basket, so to say. Right now, my business is still an infant. I am my only employee and I am steadily building it up. The hardest part for me is charging the right price for my service. When I started out, 8 months ago, I made the mistake of charging too little. I am now charging more to my new clients, is nothing is written in stone for me yet, but, I also have to be careful not to charge too much and scare my clients away.

I had the exact same problem when I first started selling my dvds. Since I purchased them in bulk and the product per dvd was so inexpensive, I undersold my product. It wasnt untill I researched other online and offline dvd shops that I adjusted my price acordingly and just a bit under my competitors. I also offered free shipping which made my sales go up. I recomend to do some research on your product and how much other are selling for to not unsell yourself and loose profits. Also, just like you said, you don't want to charge too much for your product or service as to make customers go to other places.

For me it has been easier to make money off-line. I think the economic crisis makes it hard to make money online now a days because of the countless scam efforts and get rich quick schemes people are using to make their own financial situation better.

I have found that very same thing as well. As I mentioned before, I sell both offline and online. I would have to say that a large majority of intrnet buyer have become weary of purchasing online even if you offer as much buyer protection as possible. The best thing to do is make a very attractive but user friendly site with up to date customer service/contact information and if shipping a product, add tracking/confirmation numbers on your packages. Paypal is also a good way to add confidence to your buyers as they have up to date security measures in place.

Well, over the yrs. I have done things both online and offline. It can be interesting when it comes to doing a Business for sure. I know there are many that will be leary about giving their information to be able to Shop online or where they want to see an actual product first, while others just want the convenience of being able to shop online as well. Personally for me, I think overall when you have a Product or Service where you can do a little bit of both, especially in today's economy you are doing yourself the Best service as well.

Online works better for me than offline. I'm good at earning money offline as well but the reason that online is better is because it has been so hard to find a job in my small town area and it has been just as difficult finding a babysitter for my three children. By working online, there is always business available and it cuts out the need of finding a babysitter as well. I am able to spend more time helping my children out with homework and making family time as well. That is something that I feel children need and in these tough times, parents are forced to work long and hard which cuts out that much needed time with their children. It hurts them to be away from their kids like that but they do what they have to do. I still work very hard online and put in a lot of long hours, but I take a break on a sunny day and take them out to play or stop when they get off the bus to help them with their homework. I'm a freelance writer and so I've found a number of websites that have paid me well for my work which has helped keep our household bills in order, I usually have enough left over to take my kids out to eat a couple of times a month as well as go out on a date or two with my husband. Together, him working for himself offline and me working for myself online, has proved to be a wonderful combination and we both equally contribute to the bills thanks to our income.

Hi there easydoesit and welcome to mylot. Well I prefer to make money online. I do work hard for my earnings but I like that I can work when I want to and there is really no time scheldule. I can work on the weekends only if I want or only at night the choice is mine. I like being online and learning more and more ways to make money. I have not had a job outside the home for a year now and I like it that way. What about you what way do you like at home or outside the home? Nice discussion and happy mylotting to you.

I prefer to make money online. Running a business online doesn't have the overheads that an off line business has especially if you are selling goods and niche type items which is easy to setup online. The only problems so far have been getting to grips with the technical side but once you've done that it gets much easier. So far, I haven't noticed any downturn in sales or availability of work on the internet despite the tough financial times.

For me its a combination of both. I'm in a business that requires me to have face-to-face contact with the customer and I do allot of work off my mobile phone. So I suppose in that respect you could say I am still working in the off line world. However, I also do allot of work online. I develop documents on a computer and send them to clients via email. I have a blog, which although not commercialised allows me to market myself in cyberspace as does participation in forums like this. The online world is a reality and a good reality for small businesses. It saves us allot of money in overheads. Thankfully I don't have to rent an office - office rents are expensive and I can do work from anywhere in the world as long as a I have an internet connection. I think its all about how you use the technologies available to you. I mean a few years ago, allot of us in this forum would not be able to function because we did not have the internet. Now we do and we can buy and sell things to people from all over the world without having to leave the comfort of our homes. This is a blessing for the global economy in these troubled times. For me, I think the question is not one of off line versus on line but how you use the online world to maximise your opportunities.

I'd say that selling online is the best for me. Here you can reach a lot of people from all over the country plus the fact that you don't have to pay for rent and that's good news. The only minor problem I encountered while selling online was promoting my site. What I did was I joined forums and groups to help promote my site plus the fact that I also list my products on ebay and I put my link there to generate views. So far that worked for me.

Mine is off-line because I'm not a techno savvy, but is good in my off line work. My off-line work income is more reliable, definitely bunkable and is much bigger than what I earn here. However, I'm still here not because of the money but more for the enjoyment and learning this networking gives me. My son works on-line, but he's earning much...because he's a tech savvy and he knows how to wrestle with it. But mine suits me fine; we benefit from my son's on-line earning, which is also reliable and bunkable and can really foot the bill!

I have worked both online and offline but never in my own business. I do not think that I am cut out for home businesses unless it was something that I had created (crafted) and were selling, something that would require little to no permits. I enjoy working online the most although it doesn't bring in much money. It's far less stressful as I can be my own boss and I feel that I have accomplished more by typing and giving my opinion then I have by being a cashier, a stocker, and a waitress.

Offline work is more reliable in long terms. Also offline works counts to your experience . Online work depends upon your luck as well. If you are lucky then you get right work. Otherwise you will be in some fraudlent sitiuation.

All I know about is earning money offline. Sure there are obstacles to overcome, but that's life. Running your own business is the best way if you have the capital to start and maintain until earnings are steady.
