Do You Wear a Steatbelt???

I saw a story on the news last week where a guy driving too fast hit the median & his SUV rolled 4-5 times front over rear. The driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt & flew out the back window during the wreck. That was one of the scariest videos I've ever seen. It got me thinking. I ALWAYS wear mine & won't crank my car if my passenger doesn't put on theirs. Do you wear a seatbelt when in a moving vehicle or do you just take your chances that nothing will happen???

Yes, I do wear a seatbelt, especially in the front seat but at times while sitting in the backseat I do not wear a seatbelt mostly for the reason they most of the times they don't fit. But if they did sure I would wear one everytime I get in a car.

I can't imagine NOT wearing a seatbelt - and it makes me very nervous when I'm in a bus or train and there are no seatbelts available. Somehow, it feels wrong to be moving and not belted in properly. All my grown-up children are great about seatbelts, thank goodness. I can never understand why people don't bother putting them on.

I always wear a seat belt and make sure anyone riding with me does also. Not only is it safer that way, but here in Florida, it's the law. If I get stopped for some reason and they see I don't have my seat belt on, I will get a ticket. But I mostly wear it because I feel safer that way.

Georgia law says front seat riders & children under 4 MUST wear a seatbelt. I still insist my back seat riders put theirs on also. All I need when trying to control a car during a wreck is a passenger coming across the seat & hitting my arm!!!

It is a proven fact that a backseat passenger not wearing a seatbelt turns into a lethal weapon as they move forward with extreme force into the person in front of them - both are more likely to die that way - I am so surprised that backseat passengers do not have to buckle up sweetheart! xxx

Well to be honest I cannot stand seat belts. I look at this from two ways. I have heard of people getting hurt without one. And I also have heard of people getting hurt wearing one. I hate being restricted what really scares me if I get in a car accident and I cannot get out beacuse the seatbelt will not let me out. I know I should always wear it and most of the time I do but there are days I do not. I know the right thing to do is to wear it. Take care and happy mylotting to you LadyMarissa :)

Lee Iacocca - Lee Iacocca was President and CIO of Chrysler motor company.
I always wear seat belt when ever i drive a car or in front seat. This is compulsory by Law in India and if you are caught without one then you get a ticket. Well i started wearing seat belt even before it was compulsory because i read Auto bio graphy by Lee Iococca ( who was president of Ford then Chrysler motor company.)In his book he tells that how much safety procedure is seat belt and then he goes on to tell that this is biggest safety procedure cars have even known. Then i read a reserch on it and it was proved that impact of accident on person wearing seat belt at 90mph speed is same as on the person who is not wearing and driving at 40 mph.

I also started wearing a seatbelt before the law was passed. I was in an accident & found myself sitting in the passenger seat on the other side of the console when I finally got my head back together. My neck hurt for years after that. So, I began wearing my seatbelt right after that. I decided not to take my chances anymore. Fortunately I didn't go through any glass

I used to feel that way. That is until I was in a wreck & landed in the passenger seat on the other side of the console. I began by wearing the belt kinda loose until i got used to that. Then I tightened it up a little more until I got used to it. I kept tightening a little at a time until I got it to where it should be. I was a caregiver to a young lady that was left paralyzed from the neck down from not wearing a seatbelt. She now wishes she had ignored the discomfort of the strapped down feeling as she is MORE than strapped down now!!!

here in ontario (Canada) where i live, it is illegal to drive without a seatbelt on and there are huge fines if you get caught and really, as you pointed out, driving with a seatbelt on is really only for your own safety.

In Georgia only front seat riders & children under 4 years old have to wear seatbelts. In the beginning the law just said we had to have our seatbelt on. That is until several fools got caught wearing theirs over their arm...not even hooked. Had they been in a wreck, they would probably had their arm cut off!!!

Did the glass from the windscreen fall into the car??? Here it is made of safety glass so if it shatters it doesn't fall on any passengers. People being hurled through the windscreen is usually the problem. You said only whiplash I've had whiplash & it is extremely painful!!!

I always put mine on..it's almost like a reflex..I never drive around or get a drive from someone without the seatbelt on. I mean..it's obvious that without the seatbelt you will become a shooting ball as soon as something prevents the care you are in from moving. Secondly, if the cops get ya...you are about to pull some serious cash out of the poket and no matter how adventurious you might be, I don't think you would ever risk that one!

I wear mine MORE for the safety & less for the money. It is silly to pay fine just because you're too stubborn to wear a seatbelt. It's also silly to become injured for the same reason!!!

i don't think that people take seat belt seriously. they wear it just because the law has made it a compulsion. I used to take it lightly till the time i witnessed a horrifying accident, where the driver put a sudden break and the person sitting besides broke the front glasses and popped out off the car. you newer know what will the next moment so better wear your seat belt and be safe.

Wearing a seat belt is compulsory in my country.Else you will get fine for not following the road rules.I always wear it regardless of road system issue,be it in the car, taxi or anywhere else that provided with seat belts.Though, i have to admit that i hate the belt strapping tight on my body.To solve this,i have installed a belt lock for it to adjust the length and tightness.Just good enough to keep me safe on road.I don't get it why people resist to have a seat belt on.This thing can be the only thing to safe your life in case of a emergency break or accident.Get strappy and have a safe journey !

hi my dearfreind, i always wear my seat belt when i am in a car and if i am on a side seat with my hubby then too i make a point that i have to wear it. when i am in a taxi then too i wear it. my family members say that i am too afraid of certain things but i dont think so. seat belt is made there so that people put them, or wear them and then travel. it is not there for fun or something. i am not at all careless on that part.

I always wear my seatbelt. As soon as I get in I buckle up. I've heard that there are instances where seat belts can do more harm than good, but I'd rather take my chances with it on than off. I sure wouldn't want to end up like the guy in the video, that's for sure.

I do wear my seatbelt sweetheart , in fact it is law here that you MUST wear a seatbelt with very few exceptions and if you need an exemption for a medical reason then you must have a medical certificate stating that. It is so dangerous not wearing a seat belt - in fact a rear seat passenger not wearing one turns into a lethal weapon due to the force they could fly into the person in front of them with in the event of an accident! Hugs xxx

I knew you were smart enough to wear one & could hear you telling Niamh to put hers on too!!! Only front seat riders have to wear them here. I usually do the driving. However, when a passenger,I still wear my seatbelt...even in the back seat!!!

I always wear a seat-belt when in a moving car, usually in a car that is not moving aswell as I am used to putting it on and put it on without realising. I do not understand why people do not wear seat-belts, they are not exactly embarassing or uncomfortable, they are just risking their life. Sometimes seat-belts can cause more pain if in an accident but usually it would make you safer. My grandma was wearing a seatbelt and my granddad was driving the car and he crashed the car, my grandma had leaned forward to get something out of the glove box and her seatbelt had slipped from her shoulder, because of this she was in pain for about 4 weeks (a month).

I know what you mean. I got in my car the other day & remembered that I had left my phone in the house. I pulled the key out of the ignition, opened the door only to realize I couldn't get out. Hmmmm. What was wrong??? I already had on my seatbelt & had forgotten to unbuckle it!!!
