A cold shower every day- Do you think you could take it?

I just read this article about how cold showers have a lot of health benefits, as well as being eco-friendly because they don't use energy to heat the water, and cold showers tend to be shorter and use less water, too. Sounds great, but I'm just not sure I could handle it! I hate being cold. What about you?

Oh no not healthy at all. The reason why we use warm/hot water is to open our pores so it's easier to cleanse our skin. However, Rinsing with cool/cold water is good because it then closes the pores thus shielding our skin from bacteria. ‹(°¿°)›

Yeah good points. I forgot about the benefits to your your circulation and your nervous system. That's usually recommended after being in a whirlpool, sauna or steam room. ‹(°¿°)›

Yeah, a lot of people who responded to the article I read said that they did the cold portion of their shower after their hot portion. They say that the temperature change helps your circulation and your nervous system, as well as being beneficial for the skin.

Well back in the days when i was still in elementary and high school, i would take a bath/shower as early as 5am and the water was freezer-cold! We don't use heater much here in the Philippines. It would give me terrible chills but i survived it. Lol! So yeah, i guess i can handle cold bath/shower everyday.

Well I don't know if cold showers has health benefits but it does wonders to me during very hot weather. Actually, i always have cold showers because we don't have a heater because we don't need one living in a tropical country. But sometimes the water which comes out is warm when you take showers in the middle of the day. I can also take showers and bath in the wee hours of the morning when it's cooler or colder :).

Hi there thyst07. Our place where we live is very cold especially at Christmas times. But i still go with cold showers rather than hot. Although hot showers will make my body warm, i still feel the coldness after the shower. Its also cozy to heat the water every time so i just use cold water to save money. Then i wear jackets to warm my body.

I have a gas hot water heater and have run out of gas and had to take cold showers. They weren't healthy for me at all! I live in a very warm place, it generally doesn't get below 60 degrees here, but those showers were miserable. And try to shave your legs when they have goosebumps on them. Impossible!

I actually used to prefer to shave with cold water, because it made the hair on my legs stand up on end and got a closer shave- but it did also give me some irritation, and eventually I decided it wasn't worth it.

No way!! I can do a cool shower in the summer when it's really hot but not in the winter. Also I've read that cold showers can stun your heart and may cause a heart attack by shock. I think I'll stick to what I've doing for years. !!Happy Halloween!! ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

No, I don't think I could. I've taken a cold shower before (not by choice) and let me say it made it quite difficult for me to be able to enjoy it. I was constantly catching my breath from the shock of the cold water hitting my body. How is anyone able to get a shower in with cold water when it is so painful. Thanks, but no thanks, I'd rather miss taking a shower than to have to take a cold one. It just isn't worth it to me.

I don't think I could handle it either. My opinion is that "shivering" is probably a negation of the health benefits a cold shower could provide. Besides, it isn't exactly like our shower would let us do cold. It would probably be icy, and then hot, and back again, all in seconds.

ok,actually I did that for two years in college even in winters, but now I become used to hot waters in winter and some other cold times,I could still use cold water for showers in the other seasons.
