I am not a grandmother, but please, do not think that I am just joining this conversation for the sake of joining just any one. I wanted to respond to this because I am a grandchild and I love my grandparents dearly. Reading your discussion topic made me want to pick up the phone and talk to my grandparents. There have been a lot of things in my life that has torn me away from them. I live far away from them. One of my grandparents, my grandmother, is developing Alzheimer's and Dimentia. It is hard for me to talk to her because I don't like hearing what is happening to her health. My grandfather and his wife (who I also call my grandmother) and I had a misunderstanding. I haven't spoke to them in a couple of years but I miss them very much. I love them as any grandchild should. I was always able to talk to them about anything and so reading your discussion almost brought a tear to my eye. I want to be able to go back to that again. Thanks so much for helping me gain a new level of realization. I don't know if you knew that it would happen, but it had an effect on me. It literally touched my heart. Thank you.

you have made my day w/your response, thank you. i like u thought my grandparents hung the moon. i lost my last one years ago, she was my rock & i still miss her terribly. i hope you did call yours, both sets. don't let something happen to them w/out u talking to them, please. i'm sorry about the alzheimer's. that is a heart breaker. i lost my mother, father & only aunt i had in 2008. call your grandfather dear. u will not be sorry that u did. even if he doesn't respond like u want him to u made the call.i never thought about my discussion affecting anyone like it has you. i'm so proud it did because i hesitated about putting it on. thanks again.

I just wanted to say, I'm truly glad that my response made your day as yours made mine. I did end up calling all of my grandparents and speaking to all of them. I've now called them a total of three times since your post! LOL. It is so good to hear from them again and have that connection with those that I love and missed so much. I can tell that they felt the same way when I called them. It seems that my grandfather and grandmother were so happy to hear from me that they forgot all about the misunderstanding, or chose to put it behind them with no more words about it which is great. Thank you so much. Because of you, I have a relationship with my grandparents again. I told them that I wish I was still little enough to raid their cookie jar and then give them "cookie crumb kisses" when they caught me. They laughed and said no matter how old I got, I could always do just that. LOL.

We could never get tired of hearing you talk about your grandson because he is quite a smart one and your stories are always fresh .I dont have any kids but they always say whats on their minds ,they are never pretencious and that is ok by me.His seems to have his head screwed on too as he realised that people are supposed to work and not just lounge around and that augers well for our future which is in their hands and also for his future because it means he is willing to work for what he wants .Often we think of most young people as the generation of vipers ,well here is a departure from that and at such a young age.Continue to love this boy and teach him the right way Antique ,could be the future prime minister ,,,we will never get tired of your stories

Ha!ha!ha!ha! You made me laugh out loud with that anecdote. Ha!ha!ha! Your grandson is talkative and he's talking with sense at that age! Ha!ha!ha! I can't get tired of grandmas talking about their grandson. I know how it feels to have grandchildren. I myself is a grandma and my twin grandchildren never fail to delight me each day. They are 3 years old twins but they talk as adult like your grandson. Just yesterday,Andrew the eldest of the twin told me that his younger twin brother went to the riverside. Of course I have told them over and over again not to go there. So I pretended I was angry and called the younger twin. I asked him why he went there despite my warning. Then he answered "Because, Andrew went with me." Ha!ha!ha!ha! Naughty, naughty kids!

That is SO cute! I babysit occasionally for a friend's kindergartener daughter. She is a teeny tiny little thing and has the confidence of an adult. She is just full of great one-liners. And actually, she's usually right on the money!
