Water is the most essential of all things in our lives. Now one needs to pay for water in the cities. We need to careful while using water, so that others are not deprived of this very essential commodity . I see people wasting water because they think it is there in plentyful, and even when they have to pay for it..Just now the water rates are not too high, but if we carry on abusing it , we may have to pay a price to get clean water for our use.
I am very careful with water and try not to waste. I water the plants with water used for washing rice and vegetables .I never flush unnecessarily and never keep the tap running while washing my face or brushing...
What measures do you all take for conserving water..

Hi! Kiran!
Yes, you are absolutely right that 'water' is the most essential of our requirements and we can survivie without electricity but not without water. As I understand that there is scarcity of water all over the places and so much and so that in some cities water comes for 1-2 hours after the gap of 2-3 days. It, therefore, becomes our moral duty to conserve water, as much as we can. Population is increasing day by day and demand for water is getting higher, however, the availability of water does not change. I also try my best not to waste water, either I am bathing, brusing or shaving and try not to flush the cistern, unnecessarily. I see to it that none of my taps or water pipes is leaking and if I notice such leakage, I immediately call the plumber for setting it right, it is after all we have to pay the water bill. We also do not throw away the water after washing rice and vegetables/fruits etc. and instead pour the same in flower pots. I also tell kids not to waste water unnecessarily or not to let the taps run, when not required.
Very Good Post!

Yes Deepak, we need to teach the youngsters about respecting natural resources. I feel that not enough is being done to conserve nature , one fine day we may regret..No one really cares, i see most people wasting water unnecessarily and then when there is a shortage they curse the government and the authorities..
thanks a lot for all your views, and i totally agree with them

Very valid point Kiran! I too try and do what I can and do not believe in wasting water. In our place, normally where we get hired help to assist us with our work, I find it very difficult to keep a a tab over the careless way these maids use water.THey just turn the tap in full and would jsut wash at will. I keep screaming at the waste of water.

Kala!
I fully agree with you that maids least bother about the wastage of water and they let the taps run continously, without blinking their eyelids. I also sometimes tell our maid, not to run the tap at full speed, when washing utensils. She will pay head for that day and the next day she will forget about my advice and would wash utensils as she likes.

Hi Kiran,
Water is very important especially drinking water. I born and brought up in Kerala (south Indian state) and where there was enough water for drinking, bathing etc. We used to take bath in river and ponds nearby so there was no scarcity of water in my childhood. After relocating to Delhi I came to know how valuable water is. There was not getting sufficient water in summer and felt very difficulty. Now it is not much problem then also I remember the old days very much and very careful while using water and giving direction to my kids too don’t waster water. Presently there is scarcity of water in Kerala also even though there are enough rivers, ponds etc but in summer people are in search of drinking water and collecting the same from far away places.
Excellent post

Hi Sreekala,Thanks a lot for such an informative post.Nowadays even the smaller villages are facing water problem because the water table is connected and as the need increases the supply decreases and there is bound to be problem In India there was a talk about linking rivers at one time, so that the water gets equally distributed..

Hello friend! In my case, I do not use shower anymore whenever i take a bath. I use the hard way; besides, it is a good exercise hahaha! I totally agree with you in saying that water is very necessary in our life. It is difficult to do things without it just like one time, I experienced waking up early in the morning and went straight to the rest room for i felt like my tummy was going to burst. after the success and was about to flash it, there was no water! Oh my gush! Anyway, it was such a good thing that i keep used water in a drum, so i was able to solve the problem...funny but it is true...what a revelation hhaha!
