Easter Weekend... are you ready?

What will you be doing for Easter? Are you making a big dinner, or dining with friends and family? Are you buying baskets full of candy and toys for your youngsters? Will you attend church? We will dye Easter eggs, most likely on Saturday night because that will be the only day hubby is home to do it with us. I don't hide the eggs though, I worry about them spoiling. I might buy some plastic eggs and fill them with small toys or candy and hide those. I do buy baskets for the kids. Those are pretty much done already though. All I need to get now is a bag of mixed candy. They each already have a chocolate bunny, a stuffed toy, 3 of the kids have t shirts, the youngest 2 have dishes, the oldest has a hat, and the twins have arts and crafts toys. I might get another couple small things for the oldest and younger 2... and I have to get a few things for hubby, so far all he has is a chocolate bunny. We will not attend church, or visit with any family. I will make a decent ham dinner for us. I might even make my bunny bread again this year! It was cute and fun.

I'll arrange an Easter egg hunt for the kids at the farm using a whole pile of little chocolate eggs I've stashed away. They love hunting for them but they never find them all and I can normally rely on finding the odd one weeks after Easter when I'm least expecting it! We won't be doing anything else special. there are some parades and things around here but i doubt i'll go. There's also a 'green gathering' which I'd love to go to but it's an awful long way to go and I don't think my other half wants to.

I could go on my own, but it's just such a long drive on my own with the kids when i don't really know the route that I'd rather not do it alone. Never mind, I'm sure there's plenty i could be getting on with at home, but somehow it's just not so attractive!

It's such a shame when others don't want to do the same things we do. My husband has been like that lately, not wanting to do much of anything and I keep missing out on doing things I like.

This easter my kids probably will not get many eggs and I have decided not to buy any this year either, mind you that is down to the fact that they seem way overpriced this year and there have been no decent offers on them plus now I cannot seem to get any decent ones anywhere! Instead I have bought them a selection of outside toys, not expensive but just a little something for them to have a bit of fun with outside. I am also making easter cakes for members of my family and some friends. I am entertaining too over the weekend with mum in law coming for dinner friday and my parents coming over on the easter sunday so that will be nice.

Eggs are a dollar a dozen here now! I haven't seen it that low in a while. I got so excited over the price I bought 2 or 3 dozen a week for the last few weeks, for fear that the price would go up again!

Hey kats! Sounds like you have your Easter down to a science! I like the way you have all the baskets set up already knowing exactly what each one needs! That is so cool! I never had an Easter basket since my family was Jewish. I am not, since I became Born Again. I celebrate Easter, but I don't have anyone to make a basket for! I should make one for myself and my kitties! Maybe I will buy myself a nice chocolate Easter Bunny when I go shopping tomorrow! I am making a turkey instead of ham! I have one in my neighbor's freezer since Christmas! It's only 10 lbs, but it's just for me and my boyfriend! So that is what we will be having! We are going shopping tomorrow so we will pick up whatever else we are going to have with it!

I do the same thing at Christmas time, sometimes making lists of what I have (because I put it away so the kids don't see it) and I like to keep it straight in my head so I know what else I need to buy, or what I don't need to buy so I don't overspend (which I always do anyways)

Some friends from our neighborhood are holding an Easter hunt so were going to do that and also hard boil and dye some eggs at home. We'll have a big dinner at home of course. There are suppose to be some interesting activities being held in our city. Maybe we will attend those as well.

We so far I haven't even though about getting stuff together. This year it just kind of crept up on me. I kept putting it off. We have all their gifts for in their baskets except the candy. I'm skimping on the candy this year because we really don't need anymore candy. Saturday is a community easter egg hunt in town so we'll go to that. Then I don't know when we will do eggs. Maybe friday. We don't hide them either we just eat them for breakfast sunday morning lol. We'll hide the plastic eggs. My grandmother is having her easter dinner saturday evening and then sunday we will go to my husbands grandmother to visit. we don't go there for dinner because their house is so small we would have to eat dinner on the couch with our plates in our laps while everyone else is crammed around the dinning room table in the other room. we don't go to church either.

I might be going to my brothers for dinner. It all depends on how my kids are feeling. I got matching dresses for my daughter and my niece, so I hope they feel well enough to go. I have not gotten the kids anything for Easter yet. Not sure what I will be getting them. I do not plan on going to Church.

We usually color eggs the day before, it's sort of an extended family thing. I have cousins that are about the age and a little older than my children and we get them all together to enjoy the project. Since my children are not really candy eaters there is only one basket for them to share plus my husband's mother gets each child an Easter basket. We don't hide the eggs we color because one year the eggs got warm and sweaty and the dye transferred onto the carpet and stained.

I fill their baskets mostly with toys. I went out yesterday and got another toy for each child. Basically they'll get their chocolate bunny, a few mixed chocolate candies, and the rest will be toys.

Easter is somewhat different for my family, now that my sister and I are older. My sister and I both head home on Good Friday. Typically on Good Friday we dye our Easter Eggs. Saturday we'll do something special as a family. Then on Sunday we'll all attend church together. My grandma will come to my parents house and cook Easter dinner for us. Ham, scalloped potatoes, dinner rolls, a vegetable, coleslaw, and some kind of dessert. It's always very delicious! I cannot wait until I have children of my own to pass down our Easter traditions. It's definitely a lot different now than when we were kids, but we still have fun.

u seem to have been fasting a lot, that you are so excited about the Easter Sunday. even though Easter is more important feast than Christmas, Christmas is celebrated more than Easter. I'm going to gulp a lot of meat on the Easter weekend.its been so long that i did not eat any meat. and ill also go about meeting up my friends and relatives

We're taking the kids to get a photo with the Easter bunnyon Saturday...a first for our youngest. The two older boys probably won't want their picture with the bunny...they are 10 and 13 this year. On Sunday we'll probably just give the kids their baskets and maybe hide a few eggs for our 2year old to hunt for. I haven't been able to get a ham for dinner so we'll probably just have a nice chicken dinner.
