Sounds of Birds Chirping Waking Me Up

Since Spring has sprung the birds are chirping away in the morning. I figure they start their songs around 5am. Since I am a light sleeper this wakes me up. To some people the sounds of the birds chirping is a peaceful way to wake up. Not for me. I find it annoying since I'm still trying to sleep at that time. Couldn't they just hold off for about an hour? Anyone else feel this way?

I agree with you on that one. I wouldn't live anywhere near a rooster. I'd go insane.

I used to be the same way but since I have been taking a muscle relaxer at night for my FMS then I just sleep right through it. So when I wake up and hear the birds on my own time it's very pleasant. There isn't much you can do to get them to stop I guess you could wear earplugs but if an alarm is to wake you up then you wouldn't be able to hear that. Maybe you will get used to it soon?

That's funny you mention the earplugs - I keep a set in my nightstand. Sometimes I use them when I'm desparate.

that's why i got double paned glass when i switched out my windows. they can chirp all they like now. if you work night shift a lot,it's a good thing.

Luckily I am not a light sleeper and if I do hear the birds at 5am can go back to sleep untroubled. I love the birds and make friends every year with the blackbirds in my garden. Dare I suggest you follow their example and go to bed early so that at 5am you will want to rise and sing with them. No, not a good idea?

I do go to bed at a decent time, around 10pm. I just can't always fall asleep right away and sometimes I like to read for a while.

OK I love the sound of the bird songs in the morning but not until I am already awake. I do not sleep well to begin with so when ever I am asleep I like complete and total silence. I live in the mountains and we have lots of birds around here. I have learned that if I am going to sleep with the windows up then I turn on my peddle stool fan on high even though I have a ceiling fan, the peddle stool fan it turns faster and drowns out the sound of the birds, but the fan is not noisy to keep me awake or to wake me up.

Hi, Shar19! Good Morning! Well, when I hear the birds chirping it reminds me of a pleasant springtime season. It brings in blissful moments of peace and relaxtion. It eases my tensions when I hear a bird chirping during the early morning hours. It is also a sign signaling for me to get up refreshed to a brand new day.

I THOUGHT I heard birds chirping the other morning, and it sounded so nice. It turned to to be an alarm on my iPhone playing through the headphones. Totally had me fooled. I don't live in an area where morning birds are a problem. I think it's because the triple-paned windows we need to keep the cold out also filter out most bird sounds in the morning. However on a recent Hawaii trip I notices sever extremely noisy birds that liked to start around 4 AM. That would bother me for sure... unless I learned to get up at 4 AM to go surfing or running or something.

I can't stand the birds either. Their songs are definitely *not* beautiful to me at 5:00am. Also, I seem to have a disproportionate amount of crows living next to me, and they are so relentlessly LOUD. I usually sleep with a fan on, which helps to dull out the extraneous noise around me. Now I can't sleep well without the fan, even if it's silent! Having a constant white noise lulls me to sleep.

I agree with Neyr90. Light sleepers will just to find a way to go back to sleep/continue sleeping despite disturbances. I am a light sleeper too, and can instantly wake up if someone has entered my room. When I'm awake like this, I am unable to go back to sleep for a long time. Solution: either focus on breathing, like Neyr said, or use earplugs to blot out the sound. When you are ready to wake up, 'pull the plug' (lol) and listen to the birds when it is morning for You. The chirpy ones would be still singing in any case!

Lol you're a lucky lass. I envy you!!! It's been ages since I last heard the chirping of birds; even in daytime. The only bird we have in common sight here is a crow! And yea, that sound is really really annoying. However, may be crows in our part of the world are a bit lazy. They usually yell out late in the morning. :-D

I kind of like the bird's chirping. Here's something that never happened before and I wonder if you ever heard it before: Last night at 3AM, all the birds started chirping! Mind you it was 3AM! It went on for about 20 minutes then all of a sudden it stopped! It started up again at the regular time, around 6:45AM. Why do you think they did that at 3AM?? Has anyone ever heard that before? I figured husband and wife birds got into an argument and all the other birds were trying to tell them to shut the heck up! ha ha ha! What do you think?

I am sorry to hear that but for me, I love it when birds are chirping outside my window. I feel closer to nature even if I live in the city. I don't like dogs barking, I findit disturbing especially late at night.

The birds are always talkin' around here...it's the peepers, the spring peepers, that wake me up...disclaimer: they're frogs. They're deafenining when the spring is in full swing.

I like to wake up on my own. I don't like waking up to chirping birds, barking dogs, or screaming kids. I really don't even like to wake up to an alarm clock. Not that no alarm clock happens very often.

Starlings are the worse around here, if there are tall trees around these birds fill them and are so noisy no one can sleep through them.

I just recently put my bird house out and few bird feeders out for the spring. At first I wasnt getting much birds to them and was a little upset because I like sitting and watching the birds..as for the chirping there are times where it drives me nuts as well. Not so much in the early morning because I am such a heavy sleeper that I just block it out but my neighbors have bird feeders out in their back yard as well and it drives me nuts in the evening time when i am sitting in my living room and they are right out side my window chirping away so loud I cant even hear the television. I know that they are out and about way to early though because there have been times I have gotten up to use the restroom at night(yes 5am or 6am is still night to me) and I can already hear them going at it and there seems to be alot more chirping that early like they are letting the rest of the bird know that it is time to awake. It can be quite annoying but watching them can also be very peaceful and enjoying especially the cardinals, morning doves and blue jays.
