Yes, last night on the way home I am listening to John Tesh and he is talking about how bacon is becoming a dessert food. We are talking bacon cupcakes and bacon dipped in chocolate, bacon crunch bar and bacon bread pudding and bacon and egg ice cream. None of this appeals to me at all..and I love desserts. How does it sound to you? Have you tried it? Where? What did you think?

I think it is a disgusting idea for a dessert. There's enough of it in other courses. Don't get me wrong I love it - but it's bad for us. All I can think of is that there must be too many pigs and so we have to eat it from dawn until dusk to reduce the amount available on the market

That could be. I really don't like the smell of bacon cooking..it is just too greasy. I am with you -- I think it is disgusting.

I prefer to cook it in the broiler or in the George Foreman grill so that all of the grease just drains away. Better yet, I have been buying already cooked bacon for a long time, just warm it up on a hot skillet or in the microwave.

I was watching a show about different bars and the bartenders signature or specialty cocktails and one of them had a bacon martini. Yuck! I like bacon with my eggs or a burger on occasion but a dessert food it is not.

A bacon martini!! What goes in it? I agree bacon is not a dessert food.

I found the recipe for the bacon martini...I don't think so Lightly mist martini glass with vermouth, and rim the edge with bacon grease. In a cocktail shaker, mix 3oz vodka, one dash tobasco, and one dash olive juice. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass. Skim excess bacon grease from surface of cocktail. Garnish with one slice of bacon.

Ewww, that's definitely one way to drink your calories! Bacon grease should never be considered a rimmer!

It sounds a bit crazy to me! Then again, we eat pork with apple sauce so I guess it's not that way out if your mind can just condition itself to accept something out of the ordinary. I don't really fancy the sound of it myself, though. Brightest Blessings.

I can't say I'm surprised. It's just not a "normal" thing to add to dessert and we can't get our heads round it.

That sounds really disgusting! I like bacon for breakfast sometimes and like BLT's but not as a desert. I have never heard anything about that untill this discussion.

I eat turkey bacon and eggs. I haven't heard of bacon as a dessert food. I once ate fried chicken with cake and it tasted pretty good. I don't like the bacon made from the pig it's greasy and salty.

Yes, I personally prefer Turkey bacon. I don't eat fried chicken either (although I do love it). Bacon as a dessert food does not do it for me.

don't get me wrong i like bacon and i like bacon on sandwiches but i can't see wanting bacon in my desserts. none of what you listed there even remotely would make me want to try it either. just doesn't sound like something that would taste good to me. i'm sure some people may like it, but just not for me. i also like my desserts every once in awhile though the most i've had lately is ice cream.

That is the way I feel...bacon breakfast, on burgers or sandwiches...as a dessert NO! It is amazing how most people here feel the same way yet it seems to be catching on.

I was going to say that's hardly healthy is it? But then again desserts are NOT meant to be healthy are they unless you count fruit which can be boring LOL! But as for bacon, yuk! I can't convince myself that a bowl of bacon and vanilla ice cream would go down well or bacon and chocolate? Ewwww nasty. All that choleresterole and I thought the world was trying to fight obesity, evidently not, recipe for health disasters and that's not just in the kitchen LOL!

You know Wolfie, I must agree there. I am fighting that nasty battle of the bulge and slowly losing. We need healthier desserts not bacon and chocolate (which even if I was skinny would sound wrong). My son plans on going to culinary school. I am going to be going through his text books and getting out the good recipes and making them healthy. I think recipes like this are invented by heart doctors to drum up business.

I love bacon, possibly it would be good in a savory muffin, but I do not want it for dessert. I do like it with a stack of pancakes and maple syrup, though.

I love bacon! And I might even have it as a dessert but not with those combinations. Bacon and eggs ice cream. Eeeck! And chocolate covered bacon doesn't sound appetizing either. But then again, I might try it just to see. I never thought you could have so many pretzel choices.

Pretzel choices are one thing, pretzels are just salty bread... but bacon and ice cream just don't go together.

Hey deb! I must say that I do love bacon! But, only with eggs or on a bagel or with french toast! But, no way do I want it ever as part of my dessert! That is definitely where I draw the line! Part of a pig don't belong in dessert! It is not going to make it! It is just something that is too gross to have in ice cream or chocolate or anything other than breakfast foods or a sandwich! What is wrong with this world? No, I will never change my mind!

I like bacon..I don't love it. It leaves you so thirsty..and greasy feeling. I actually eat oatmeal for breakfast about a 100 times more often than bacon. How is that for being boring?

I'll pass. I like unusual foods as much as the next weirdo , but I'll take a rain check on any of those foods. I recently gave up eating pork anyway, so darn I'll just have to stick with my resolution. But please, if you try any of that, feel free to tell me how it went!

Well, I have been cutting back on my meat eating and am eating vegetarian 2 days a week. And I guess it could be tried with turkey bacon, but it just does not appeal to me at all.

No thank you...I just don't see bacon as a dessert. Bacon, for me, is a breakfast food or maybe on a burger or a BLT...not dipped in chocolate. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

I heard about this several months ago...the UK had introduced chocolate covered bacon. My opinion hasn't changed...EEEEEWWWWWW!! While bacon is good and I like it...and chocolate is always good, the two together is a big no-no for me. That's like mixing hot dogs and ice cream...gross. Thank you but I'll have my bacon on bread with tomatoes and lettuce and a little Miracle Whip and a chocolate candy bar for dessert when I'm done with my BLT. Once in awhile it might be ok to eat something like this but all the time? No it would be too fattening. I would try it just to see what it tasted like though.

Can we say "EW?" That sounds repulsive. Although I like some weird things, like fried pickles and such, chocolate-drenched bacon sounds gut-wrenching! Not to mention the additional toll it would take on the waistline! Bacon is already horrible for you, so let's coat it in sugar and dip it in chocolate! Thanks, but no thanks. Those are desserts I will easily be able to turn down! Hey, if they make ALL desserts with bacon, I might actually lose some weight! LOL

Believe it or not, fried pickles are not only good, but they are very popular in certain places here in the South (where they've tried EVERYTHING fried!). Chocolate and peanut butter are complementary flavors. I just couldn't imagine salty pork and chocolate together. But hey, I'd be willing to try it once, because I'm not a fan of dogging something until I've given it the ol' college try. We'll have to resurrect this post once more people have tried this new fad! Sushi would not be my favorite food had I decided never to try it!
