What word do you use for grandmother, either a family one or what it is in your language? I prefer to be called Nanna but someone I know calls his Spanish grandmother Abolita,(sorry if I've spelt it wrong), which I think is much nicer than any English words I've heard.

I called both my Grandmothers Nanna, my son calls one of his Nanna and the other one Grandma, it stops confusion that way. His Nanna insisted on being called Nanna and his Grandma wanted to be called Grandma, I think Grandma sounds a bit posh though, I prefer Nanna, it's a friendlier one.

The person I called Grandma was definately not posh. I do think Nanna sounds more friendly but there are some answers that sound really nice.
