i read freecycle and craiglist all the time, and lately i've been seeing ads that are more or less "large mystery box.all kinds of things, make appt for pickup".
hmm..well,it could be good things..or maybe still useful yard sale leftovers..
or,it could be someone's garbage, cat poop, broken things even goodwill won't take, and they have no other way of getting rid of.
the old george carlin piece about meatcake comes to mind.
"well,what is it?"
"i don't know.it has no smell at all.could be meat,could be cake..i'll call it-MEATCAKE!"
so,would you risk the travel to satify curiousity?
or,do you think like me it's probably just a box of junk?

I love the mystery boxes. It's like Christmas going through everything. Sometimes it turns out to be nothing that you'd want. Other times there are all sorts of neat things in there. As for cat poop - anyone doing that would be banned from Freecycle if administrators were notified. That's not what Freecycle's about. You can also get rid of your own things by adding them to the box and re-Freecycling it. It's usually a "traveling" box that goes from person to person.
