This discussion is based on sudden fame of Susan Boyle. In one week after her appearance on British Got Talent the video hit 66 millions viewers making the all time world record of viewers on Internet. The point is: she was broke and unemployed, never kissed, quiet person with big dream. Today she is number one topic everywhere. What would you do with sudden fame? How sudden fame would change your life?

I'd probably have to clean my house and I might find homes for the cats looking for homes....

Do you feed stray cats like I do? I feel so sorry for the poor little things. If you were famous you would probably get rich and be able to make a no-kill shelter for the kitties!

I would hope it wouldn't change my life very much. I would not like to be the subject of photographers and writers or have people flocking to my door and bothering me in the stores. So I guess I would take no steps to become famous! I hope she can deal with it with the same quiet dignity that she dealt with the snickers and laughter that greeted her when she first came out on stage. Miss Boyle has a lot of class.

I hope she can deal with all sudden fame. Even Jay Leno was talking about her. In the other hand, it may be hard to deal with....

I would probably hate sudden fame. Of course I would not enter a contest that would get it for me, because I would hate it. I am basically a recluse. I hope it has changed Susan Boyle's life for the better. She does have a really terrific talent.

If I had sudden fame I would enjoy it while it lasted. Which means I'd be very careful with any money I suddenly made. There will be a time when all of it goes away, and I'd want to be financially prepared. Coming from nothing to going on to be famous is amazing, but things can easily turn around before one knows it. So I'd try not to get a big head, and remember what comes first.

I guess it would depend on whether sudden riches came with that sudden fame. If you suddenly become famous but still are broke, that'd be a cruel joke, don't you think?

I don't think that I would like being famous so I wouldn't go on any show to become famous. However if I were to do so, or were to perhaps suddenly become famous then I would take it as well as I could. I would want to uphold the best image and never give the public reason to ridicule me. I would dress fashionably in a tee shirt and jeans, and never reveal anything that shouldn't be revealed in public. I would be appreciative of the fans and of the money that I would receive, but I'd take my fifeteen minutes and get out of there! Maybe to one day appear on VH1 as "where are they now?"

I like the idea of never revealing anything that should not be revealed. Being famous does not make the world entitled to every step we take during the day.

OMG, 66 million hits that is amazing!. i know that must be something for her. over night fame like that. I don't know what i would do if something like that happened to me. I honestly can't answer that question. i know her whole world is going upside down right now. I honestly wish her the very best of luck because her life is going to change so much from this point on. I don't know what i would do. i am a very private person and I don't know if i would want every move i made in the public eye all the time.

She was polite, confident and prepared. She didn't have much expectation, all she needed was that someone tells her she can sing. All this was very obvious to me before she sang. I knew already that she can sing, but I couldn't believe she can sing very well like that. She did seem prepared, probably her whole life, but that kind of singing came from the heart and soul. She has the voice, and trained it in any way she could. Even the song she chose, represented her. I hope fame doesn't ruin her awesome personality. I'm sure money will flow in to her pocket soon, and I hope she knows how to handle it. Sudden fame will make me nervous. I like solitude and peace, and I will be angry when these are interrupted. The money part, if it comes with fame, I know what to do with it. Sticking to my business through thick and thins, have taught me how to manage money. I have some dreams, big and small. Fame and money will help me achieve it. Fame without money, can also help me achieve it. Funny you wrote this discussion, pola. Hubby was watching her on youtube yesterday. Are you connected or something? hahahaha

Yes, we are connected....I was watching her few times. I think that she get the right song for her situation and this is how she made everyone cry listening to her singing... "I had a dream my life would be So different from this hell I'm living" she was singing about herself...

Depending on what kind of sudden fame,as long as I got the riches with the sudden fame I would enjoy it while I could then gladly wait for it to be over.

I love, love, love Susan Boyle. She's a great example of the underdog and not many people thinking she had any talent at all, like the groans, and moans and the looks of the faces of the audience when she first came out, and even the cynical nature of the judges...she showed them, no? I don't think for a moment though that Susan Boyle DIDN'T know what she was doing. I think she knew she had it in her, with that cheeky little smirk of hers. A voice like that doesn't come overnight, and I think inwardly she always knew she had talent it's just that she was never given the chance to exploit it...Makes you wonder how many other undiscovered gems are out in the world.I hope with her newfound fame she utilizes it and cultivates it in a positive way. A lot of people DO achieve fame (and fortune) and literally piss it away...Look at Michael Vick and his dog fight issue. Look at that Olympic swimmer caught smoking pot---Sometimes fame can ruin a person as they often think they are above the law. As for me? LOL. I've dreamed of fame (and fortune) ever since I was a kid. I would still want to have a low profile type life and not always in the limelight though and having paparrazi following me, although many famous people do seem to be able to remained low-keyed. Fame (and fortune) would allow me to live better, get my luxury home, luxury car (Jaguar..LOL)---If I had a LOT of money to kick around with would love to open my own animal sanctuary and help more animals that are homeless

I think I would not like it very much at all, pola. It would make a big difference as to the situation..... if using Susan Boyle's exact situation I suppose I would try to fulfill a dream with the fame. I mean, afterall, it IS her talent that has gotten her the fame. No shame in that.

She has talent and that is why she is the biggest hit of this time. It was her immense confidence and the way she presented herself, it was really really great that she didn't think about guys laughing on her. Even the judges were not very happy until she delivered, weren't they? I am nothing compared to her and I don't know that I am that brave or not but one thing is for sure, if thre is a will there is a way!

I think sudden fame is the most dangerous situation of life. Handling this is very difficult. We have to manage our emotion otherwise this can kill us.

I would be stunned and be floating on cloud 11 since cloud nine isn't high enough..I would be more confident and surely be basking in the glory of the fame or so I would hope if I could get over my shyness.. I wish her all the best and hope she goes all the way to the top and wins..she deserves it.

Hi Pola!!! If I had sudden Fame I think I would hide lol. I am not one to want to be the center of attention (except to my guy of course)so I would not want all the attention and fussing that would come with the fame. It would be nice to have the money so not to have to worry about the bills being paid, but I wouldn't trade privacy for that.

Many of us ask that very question and say it would not change us. But I think there is almost no way that there would not be some kind of change. From the security of extra money to the new lifestyle that would come our way. Some people let fame go to their head and forget their "regular life and friends" because of their busy new life and schedule. The smart person would remember and know that fame is fleeting.

it is interesting that she got so popular that is really good. i hope that would mean a good career for her. cause it does not good if all she got is big page view on youtube. maybe now she can have recordings or just lots of shows or interviews. i am happy to see a person who is living ordinary life get to experience this life changing event. this must be the thing that she has been waiting in all of her life. hope more success comes to her.

i will definitely be the same person....i don't have the star complex in me...like if there is a play,i would rather be part of the production design team than be the lead role...i would be among those who are behind the scene..it's better this way...you don't have to compromise with anything...
