I am sitting here at the moment with a rather red face which is sore as I have managed to burn my face.
I spent the day sitting outside at Cambridge University athletics track watching my daughter compete for our local athletics club in her competition.
But I didn't realise how hot it was going to be as April in the UK is not know as a warm month.
I didn't realise I had burnt my face until we got back on the coach and my daughter said "Mum you have burnt your face".
So I now look rather strange as I have red marks under my eyes and across my forehead.
That will teach me to be more careful in the future.
So what is the worst place you have been sunburnt?

the world is different now, unlike years before where you can stand under the sun and you won't get a sunburn. blame it on all of us for depleting our ozone layer. we either get a good pair of shades and a hat and a bottle of sunscreen lotion or always bring an umbrella. i usually get my sunburn if i am on the beach even if i don't go under the sun.

That is very true you have to be careful and I usually pile on the sunscreen as I am very pale skinned. I am going to invest in a good pair of shades and try to keep out of the sun so it doesn't happen again.

The worst sunburn I have ever had was on my legs right above my knees. We had gone canoeing and we were miles down the river before we realized we had left the sunscreen in the car. By the time we got home that night I had blisters and it took forever to heal. Oh well live and learn LOL. At least it was fun in the meantime and I'm sure you don't regret spending the day watching your daughter compete.

You are right there my daughter done very well and her club finished second over all so it was well worth it.

The worst place I have been sunburned was in 2002 while I was working in my garden. I was trying to start a garden and spent hours in the hot sun. I ended up getting a very bad sunburn...but what made it worse was the fact that my garden never grew....we lived in the desert (West Texas) and I thought I could make something grow. So I got the sunburn for nothing!
Buy some Aloe Vera (or get some from the plant) and smooth it on your sunburned face. It will help soothe your skin and help the redness go away faster.

I always make sure that I have moisturizer on and foundation before going out in the sun. Both of these have sunscreen in them. If you do not want to wear the make-up just use the mositurizer. Avon makes a real good one, Anew Alternative with SPF 25. My worst sunburn was on my senior trip, we went on a cruise to Mexico. After spending the first night up real late and drinking, since we were 18 and away from home. I slept most of the following day on deck, and got burnt to a crisp.

OUCH! You may want to use Noxzema if you can get it in the UK or something with petroleum jelly in it.
I burnt myself while I was in Mexico one year. Up until then I could never change colors. I turned orange for the rest of the summer. I looked Mexican. Now I only burn and go back white. OH MEXICO!

I was burnt more than once. The first time I was burnt is once I go swimming with my friends. The swimming pool is the the hill we have to climb the hill for a while and all of us burnt that time. It is painful for quite a long time since than it is easy to be burnt.

It is very easy to get burnt we all have to be very careful and remember to apply sunblock. Thank you for the response.

I am feeling better thank you. The redness is not as noticeable this morning. They do recommend to stay out of the sun between 11am- 3pm.
I think you are wise to avoid it.

Hi, littleone. I am very sorry about your sunburn. When I was at the beach when I was about 10 years old. I went to Myrtle Beach and I did not put on any suntan lotion. I thought that I didn't need it. But when I went back home that day, I realized that I very much had needed it. My skin was peeling all off in many spots and places where I got sunburned. I was burning, red and hot from all of the sunburn. I was even stinging. I was trying to take a cold shower hoping that it would soothe the pain. But, It did nothing. It made it worse. I think it took about two to three weeks for my skin to heal back up. Now when I look at my skin, there are no traces of me ever being sunburned. I think that it darkened my neck. I have used skin complexions creams to lighten my neck back up. Being sunburn is no fun! That is my first time ever being like that. I never want to experience this again.

Hi Cream
Thank you.
I think that when we are children we tend to think that we are invincible.
I am glad to hear that there was no long lasting effects.

I'm sorry to hear about your sunburn. When I was in Grade 9, there was a day that I spend outside, and I didn't put any sunscreen the entire day. The next day, I looked in the mirror, and saw that my entire nose was red. I had gotten a sunburn on my nose, which was so bad the sunburn was actually a crust on my nose. I can tell that that was not pleasant at all.

Thank you. I should imagine it was very sore for you. We do seem to do some silly things as children.

I was about 12 and spent the whole day in the desert sun in a bathing suit, I went to the hospital. Ever since that time I have been allergic to the sun and must stay covered with lots of sunscreen if I go out at all.

That sounds awful it must be very difficult for you being allergic to the sun.

I have never had sunburn, my skin is less vulnerable. However, you should also pay attention to sun out, at least in the side with the umbrella or sunscreen coating point. When that is too hot, the best you hide in the shade.

In future I plan to do that. I burn easily as I am very fair skinned. There was not much shade there as the track was out in the open. Thank you for your input.
