Do You Trust The Information On The Internet?

I can't believe how much information there is on the net and how many smart people there are on this planet. Furthermore, most of the information I trust are from women who have life experiences. So far every health issue I've googled has given me the right remedy/answer. Doesn't mean, of course, I believe everything out there. But I've just about got all my menopausal issues under control by reading what other women have gone through. Here's to all the wise moms and very cool grandmas who are passing on their wisdom. You rock the internet!!

But who is a reliable authority. Even doctors call their "business" a "Practice." LOL. And now they're saying that the "medicine" doctors have been prescribing for menopause actually causes cancer and still they prescribe it. I guess for me I'll do what has worked for other women. Some might work for me, some of it might not. But at least I know, that exercise and good diet should be a part of my life.

Yes i do trust it when it comes to quick search I rely on the internet but when you say further research I go to a library find a good book, but I rely also on the net on the author where they got the information posted. When it comes to experiences internet is the best resources as every one is doing blogging and most of them are inputing about their lives, so Internet is still can be the best source of knowledge.

Even if the website is credible, I tend to do a little more research. Usually if more than 5 websites say the same thing, something must be working.

Yes, the internet is a wondrr place to start research. However, with anything, even books!, one must always double check and find more information before making descions. Also, if it's health related, always go to see a doctor.

Yeah, I know. I don't think anybody can scam me out of menopause. It is what it is. No magic potions here. If they try to sell it, well ... I'm not buying. I think we should practice common sense when it comes to all that info on the net.

I will only trust something if there is a credible source. A lot of the time you will not find this, which leads me to believe the person posting it has some kind of biased agenda that they are trying to push onto me. It cane be quite easy to spot just from the persons writing style and tone. You should trust men too, but only if they have a credible source. Women can get their facts wrong too.

I trust some of the information, but you have to know what to look for. I do not trust the claims that you can get cured by drinking this drink or by rubbing something on your hair, but actual testimonies by people, and those who went through it, as well as respected medical people, I will trust. And one thing about the internet, it does not take long before you find an answer to what you want to know.

I think any website that is trying to sell their product, I stay clear away from. Unless it's the product I'm looking for and then I do research to see if I can get it cheaper. I trust medical people, but I'm not always willing to have "medicine" as my only option.

Like you I don't believe everything I read in the internet, as I don't believe everything I read/hear anywhere else. The good thing about the internet is that it creates such a big circle where we can get personal information and, more than that where we can discuss things with people that are going trough the same issues, no matter what they are. Like when talking to a friend in person - the traditional way - we are not supposed to take everything we are told as the truth. That's what discussing is, hearing different sides, listening to other perspectives, learning what worked with other people. But of course we have to keep in mind that we don't really have to take a specific side, because somebody did, or abandon our perspective because others seem to have a different one, or even that what worked for someone else will work for us.

Hello gtargirl. I agree with you that the information that comes from personal experience and has been tested is trustworthy. It needs our common sense of knowledge to judge whether it is right or wrong information. We cannot believe all of them. Have a good day, friend.

Hello my friend gtargirl Ji, Seeing you after long gap. I think, I am equally responsibile for this condition. Coming to your point of discussion, I am virtually effected and suffered a lot due to my own negligence. It is related to menopausal issues. As a grand mother today, I always advise both my DILs and daughter to remain very careful at this stage of life while crossing 40 yrs. They require to get themselves checked for calcium difficiencies in body and substitude, else, Rehumotide Arithrites may cause in coming yrs. During menopausal time a woman undergoes many changes and proper medical advise from time to time would only take care. So, be very careful. May God bless you and have a great time.

hihi... i feel that the internet is really a very powerful way to share knowledge and information worldwide across different races and cultures and countries.. it is really amazing..but to what extent can the information be trusted it really varies...most importantly, we should never trust the information online to the maximum as there is definitely some biasness in it.. we can only try to take out the main idea in it.. and not to trust it totally.. and it is good to hear that the information provided online has helped you so much!! this means that you have got the right information =)

Hi gtargirl, I have to say no but hey i don,t trust anything our any one apart from my mom. Theres a lot of mean people online who are out to scam us and take our money if they can and i don,t know who they are and who to look out for so i don,t trust anyone unless i get to know them well but %100 trust i would not. That works both ways i don,t expected people to trust me eider and thats ok with me and i repect that. Its said we have to be like that but if thats the way the world is i just have to live with it. Happy myloting.

I trust sites such as webmd and other sources that provide information about health issues. Some of the articles are older but still have valuable information to share. I don't trust banking on the internet. I know the sites are suppose to be secure but I won't pay bills online and I won't post our banking information online.

I trust it from reputable sites, like official medical sites like mayo clinic for example, just because somebody writes something doesn't mean it is good so I am very careful about that.

Some things, especially things women go through, are better understood when listening to first hand experience than the medical jargon of a doctor. I have read lots of great tips on parenting, as well as other life issues on the internet. However, I have read just as much bad information as good, so it is important to be cautious. Consider the source- a complete stranger who may be very smart and experienced... or may not be. Think about the issue in a realistic way- does the advice make sense? Then, proceed cautiously and remember what works for one may not work for all. The internet is a very valuable source of information, but it can also be dangerous if you believe everything you read without question. So my rule is- question everything.

Yeah i do but it has to be on websites that are trusted by many and with high reliability. Wikipedia itself is not really accurate but we can hope that most information there is true based on the system of how they filter information. I think the best way to get information is to go straight to the official source. You have to be careful though especially if it's about health as it may put your life in danger.

Of course we cannot believe or trust all information online, because if we do, it is dangerous without expectation sometimes. In my opinion, the net is like or just be the real society for only one difference that we didn't talk in personal. There are full of goodness and badness out there indeed. All we need is to tell them apart. We may refer to some TOOLS accessible to help us analyse and reason and make the result clear enough to accept. It, of course cannot be definitely right but it's just an approach for us to figure it out. So before you go online, you should always keep it in mind that the internet consists of great information risk. So please be ready for this while going online and enjoy the joyness it brings to you and good luck. lol.
