Have you ever moved into a new home?

My family is planning a big move really soon; not sure of the exact date. We already have the place picked out. And, right now, things are really hectic around the house with all the packing and getting ready. We've never traveled on a long trip with our daughter before, so this will certainly be a new experience for everyone. Have you ever moved from one home to another? What are your best tips for moving time to make the whole process less of a hassle? How do you make the moving experience less stressful for your own children?

Well yes i have moved out to a new house, and it is really very hectic.we have to keep check of every single and smallest thing to be transfered from the old house.Well i will suggest you to make different bags for different things in your house suppose there should be completely different bag for children clothes and your clothes.differnt bag for shoes and accessories too. make a list of what you going to carry and what you going to transport, see that you write numbers on all your bags which you will transport away, when you about to download them check whther they are in good condition etc. just keep a track of things a bit early to avoid hassels at main times, be sure to keep the first aid on one hand distance itself. hope you enjoy your new home. happy mylotting.

Yes, I have some experiences in moving to a new home. If you have a lot of books, pack them in paper bags half full. Porcelain and glassware pack with plastic bubbles. Plates packed on standing position together. Glasses laid down with a sheet of plastic bubbles in between. There are plastic vacuum bags to buy to pack your clothes, linens, towels, etc. It is easier if you mark all boxes the designated areas in the new home. Such as kitchen, bedroom 1, bedroom 2, bathroom, garage, etc. Make the color pens do the job, blue for the master bedroom, pink for little sister's room, yellow for kitchen, etc. Let your children pack their special stuff themselves if possible. This will make them feel that they are also moving to a new home. Oh yes ... don't forget the food and beverage counter when moving. Everyone is tired and grouchy with an empty stomach. Good-luck!

We build our house when I was young and I was very happy to move to the new house we have build. I think it is real fun to move to the new home. I also think there will lots of packing to be done in house shifting. I think you should make a list of all the things that you need to pack and also what all things you want to put in the new house. I think it will take some time to adjust with the new environment.

I have moved to our house almost five years ago. It is better to bring the things ahead first to your new house before you and your family will travel. Once you have brought the things, arrange them accordingly so that when the children will come to the new house, there will be no more clutter and they will come to appreciate the new house.

This moving is natural. For the need of the life it is imperative in which we have to move from one place to another. Though it is hazardous but has a curiousness. It helps to know as to new place , new environment etc. Though such type of experience is not belonged to me but I guess these.

Well, I really don't move much. I am considering moving or at least looking around a little bit because there are a lot of vacancies and I might find a good deal with a move-in special. But, I hate doing all the packing and cleaning that is involved with moving, which is one reason why I stay where I'm at. I'm also in a good location, geographically, even though the neighborhood is horrible. I've lived in the place I'm at now for 16 years.

I'm sure your daughter will see the whole experience as an "adventure". There's the excitement of the journey... you can play games to keep her interested. Then there's the anticipation of a new home, which I'm sure she'll settle into very well. I would say it's better to move during the week, because I last moved on a Saturday and it was a nightmare. The journey wasn't long but the roads were busy and it made it a long day, although you might get more help from your man at the weekend, both in moving and unpacking everything at the other end. Brightest Blessings and good luck with your move, my friend.

Oh MY It has been so long since I moved house honey I can hardly remember! I do remember having ot move our household from one country to another , my ex moved for work and to get the new house sorted out and I stayed behind and organised leaving the old one in a decent state etc. I then had to travel over the course of 2 days with my baby son to the new country . My best piece of advice - have a hotel booked at about the halfway point so that you aren't tempted to keep driving when the children are tired and grumpy and your concentration starts to wane! The best bit (or it is now) is that we split up just months later and I had to drive another 2 days with my son and what I could fit in a car! Good Luck with the move sweety - do let us know how things are going! xxx

It's been a long time since I have lived in my current home almostt 30 years! That seem unbelieveable...anyway...I found that doing one room at a time helped me be more organized.....marking the boxes and unloading them in the room where they belonged.....My kids were little when we moved and were so excited that it wasn't stressful at all.

No, I have never moved into a "new" home. I have always been in older, previously owned houses. I would love to one day move into a new home. It would be nice to be the first person to live in a place, with new cabinets, new fixtures, new carpet, walls, etc. I hope to move into a brand new custom made home one day. Good luck in your move. When we have moved in the past my children were not the ones that were stressed out, it was us. It is expensive to move and it is a complete upheaval of everything you own. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Yes, it is very hassle to shift belongings from one place to other place. Pack the similar items in the same pack. Put a tag onto the pack to know the materials inside the pack and accordingly you can place the pack in the truck for its safely.

In 2002 I moved from the house where I grew up, into my own apartment downtown, in my hometown. Not too far from the old house, but it's still a place of my own. I love this place, because it's located near everything. It was hectic moving, but now that I'm in here (7 years later), it's great!

I've moved countries with my kids and we've all lived to tell the tale! For me, the hardest thing is clearing out all the clutter that builds up over the years, so that you're not wasting all that time packing it up and transporting it. I think the key is to plan in advance and get packing as soon as you can. Pack essentials seperately (bedding, bathroom articles, a set of crockery etc) as you may be tired when you arrive and just want to crash. I'm sure your daughter will be fine. Look upon it as an adventure.

I think moving is always stressful, I always lose stuff when I move, when I use to live in Boston we paid rent so when the lease was up we would move, and we really moved a lot, and I always lost stuff. But now I live in Brazil and I have my own apartment, if I ever move from here it will be to a house. I don't think there's an easy way to move, there's always stress.

I have lived all over the country! Born in Denver, grew up in Texas (have lived in Euless, Bedford, College Station, and Bryan), lived in Arkansas 2 months, Oregon for 4 months, Georgia for 4 months, Florida for 6 months, back to Texas (Irving) for 2 years, Louisiana (Monroe) for 2.5 years (grad school), then to Norcross, GA and into my first house as an adult, where I have lived for 3 years now! Moving is easy, although it is tiring. I always categorize things based on where they will be put in the new place ("kitchen," "dining room," etc.). I don't have kids yet, but if I did, I would put boxes in their rooms, already labeled as "toys" or "clothes" and then I would show them how to pack up the box. I would then explain to them that when we get to our new house, I will put the boxes in their new rooms and we would organize it together and it will be SO FUN!! If you show excitement, your child will be excited. If you are only worried and stressed, it will not be fun for your kids either.
