Does age really matter?

When adding a friend here on mylot does age really matter? I have been adding friends from all age groups so that I can get access to more discussions through my notifications. Am not sure if all the friend requests will be accepted because some are nearly four times my age! But I do not mind having friends here of any age because they are just mylot friends for me now. What about you?

yes, the same to you. many persons in mylot don't allow me to their friend. i don't want that. i need the help of older ones .and may be they are more exercise than the young ones. for the education , and for the person in mylot . like a big family should educations to each other. must communications , old ones must have a ability to help young ones and educate them let them better and better. not to walk the load that unsafe. and walk straight to win.

There may be a reason why mylotters are not allowing you to be their friend. May be they are not able to understand you. There may be some communication problem.

Well I don't care about what age people are on myLot, doesn't really matter to me. Discussions whether a 60 year old or a 12 year old started it, I'm going to respond that as long as I find it interesting... Age doesn't really matter to me here.. It's the thought that counts..

Unfortunately if a 12 year old started it chances are it will be deleted (if they are caught) because they are too young to be mylotting.

I never look at people's age here on Mylot. I usually just go to their profile and see the sorts of discussions they have been involved in. Even after doing that it is very rare that I do not add someone as a friend if they request it.

Hi Kavitina! I don't know how old you are, but I would still be glad to add you as a friend if you would like! I have friends of all ages from all over the globe! I don't mind having friends of all different ages since I don't start any mature content discussions myself and only rarely even participate in them, well only when some of my older friends start them! I believe that if you are old enough to be here on mylot then that is all that matters! You can judge yourself what discussions you feel comfortable with!

Hello mira91 I too do not mind friends of any age group here. As long as we have interests in common and able to respond to each others discussions. I too have not been checking the age of the mylotters who have added me as their friends.

Age does not really matter. I have a friend who is older than my mother would be if she were still living!! We met at an IHOP restaurant and I love telling the story. She and I were both there alone and for some reason started talking to each other. She got ready to leave and stopped by my table and I invited her to sit down and they brought my food and we talked a while and she felt uncomfortable since I was eating and started to get ready to leave. She then said, "It's too bad that we can't be friends." And my reply was,"Why can't we?" So we exchanged names and phone numbers and have talked on the phone several times and gone to brunch 4 times, I think. She is a delightful almost 86 to my 54!! One time she had me giggling like a school girl and I had to go to the restroom so I wouldn't wet my pants!! I have also been with men who were over 11 years older and 22 years younger.............does age really matter?? I don't think so. It's all in your mind and what your frame of thought is. You really can get along with anyone if you want to and be friends with whomever you want.

I love IHOP food and eat there about once a week and always get breakfast, but I have had other food there, too. It has all been good. But there are some who don't like it, too. The guy I am seeing DOESN'T like it, so I go there by myself, as I always have, and I don't mind it. I've gotten a new taste for pancakes, but the latest has been crepes! Yummy!! lol I feel sorry for you that you don't have them where you are, Kathy!! :(

The listed age doesn't matter to me. I am more concerned with the content that a member provides. The quality of the comments that a member leaves. The type of discussions started or participated in. Is their advice helpful to me or others? Are they active members? These types of issues are what's important to me. Age has nothing to do with any of those things. I don't know why anyone would put much stock in the age presented on a website where members are mainly anonymous. Who could verify the posted age anyway?

No problem. That's just the nature of online activity. Even offline, what women wants to tell you her real age? Advanced age may have the advantage when it comes to providing advice. Often the elderly are the most wise because they have seen it all. Cheers.

Thanks for clearing some of my doubts. I too have been checking the interests and secondly adding those who are regularly responding to my discussions. I too had my doubts about the age posted by members here.

I never mind adding friends w/ different ages here in mylot; it definitely has nothing to do w/ my postings or replying discussions at all. What I am interested of is the eseence of their discussions.

As far as I'm concerned, age is not a factor at all! Though I am curious, so I always look at the age. But then again, not all state their real age, so we can never be sure we are seeing the real age of the Mylotter. But even with my friends in real life, they are of varied ages.

I don't think so. I'm older than most of mylotters here but it's alright. Should the topics are for young ones, I can just adjust. As we are more matured mostly we had experienced or encounter situations in topics discussed. If I can't relate really, then I would not just comment.

Hi,kavitina I have the same idea as you.I have many friends and most of them are older than me,but it really doesn't matter. In fact, some of them are now on my YM or MSN friend list now,and we talk a lot there. So,I don't mind the age when I add friends on mylot.Older people can help you more. Have a nice day and happy mylotting!

well it certainly doesn't matter much to me. in fact, i approve all friends requests i received. to me, it's always better to have one more friend than one more enemy. i don't attach criteria like this person must response to my discussion or be well-liked. herein lies the beauty of an online community. we can just switch off when we get irritated or frustrated by someone. so it doesn't matter who the other party is, as long as a request comes along i'll approve it. cheers

Even though some of my friends here disagree, I do NOT think age matters. I have some friends who are no longer young yet they are immature. Then I have some friends who are still young who are very insightful. I think as human beings we ALL can learn from each other. Especially in myLot, I don't judge people before I get to know them. 5 or 85 I accept their friends request. A 5 year old still looks at life with new eyes...an 85 year old with experiences I've not had the chance to learn yet. I mean, it's not like my friends here are going to show up at my house everyday (that is not until I turn on my computer)

Yes these friends are with us only as long as we are on the net. And then on the net age does not matter. In fact we do not know how many are revealing their exact age here. I have not yet checked the age of my mylot friends.

Hello Kavitina! For me, I don't mind about the age. What matters most to me is the answer and the sincerity of the person when responding to a discussion. I have many friends here who came from different age groups and so far, I don't have problems with them.

I don't think that we need to worry a lot about age difference when making friends in mylot. What most important is, we must have same interest to discuss, so both can earn from mylot. I even have requested a friend, who is the same age as my grandmother in mylot here. So far, she had accepted my request and now we are friends. I even have friends as young as my sister's age..Happy mylotting..

Thanks a lot for your response. When I joined mylot and wanted to add friends I was unsure if I should add friends who were twice or thrice my age. Was not sure my request would be accepted. But happy to see that all have accepted my friend request here.

In my opinion age does not matter as long as you understand each other. The more friends you get the better. Because you will learn to be selective. It's better to hear different points of view and learn from it. So keep on being friendly.

Thanks a lot for your advice. Yes I think is should be friendly and make friends with all age groups. That gives me greater knowledge and varied view points. I can always be selective later.
