My Labador breed dog is really ill. He's ten years old and recently he has just not been eating at all. He's developed horrible spots and his nose is quiet dry for a dog. He's not as hyperactive as he used to be. The local vet here just moved to a bigger town whis about 300 KM away from me so I cant really go that far at the moment, so i don't really know what to do.. Can anyone suggest a remedy that I can use for my poor old dog? Thanks.

How is your dog doing now? Did you take him to a vet .. I would say that you should take him to a vet straight away if he is not eating.

It is advisable that you bring your dog to the vet soon. Losing appetite for a dog can be due to a number of reasons. And as a ten year's dog, it is considered old. Even the vet may not know the reason by just taking a look at it. They have to take blood test and so on, to find out the actual reason. It could be due to some serious sickness which needed to be cured. It would be good if it doesn't eat just because it doesn't like the food. This will be an easier case. Let the vet check it out will be more proper before it is too late.

I am a BIG TIME animal lover. I currently have five dogs of different breeds, ages and genders. I also have a 6 month old Black Lab, and he is my life. I love all my dogs but he has my heart. They are so gentle and loyal and always there to help. I know times are tough right now, and money can be hard to come by, but he really needs to get to a vet some how some way. If he is not drinking anything at all then I am afriand his time will end soon. I am so sorry to hear that he is sick. Since Labs do eat anything and everything and he is not, then he is really bad sick. If he is not drinking then he will parrish soon. You need to make a choice, because no animal or human being should have to suffer. I know not everyone has the same point views, so please do not get mad with what I am about to say. My theory is animals are like children, they depend on us to take care of them, if this was your child that was sick you would (or at least I hope that you would) do everything possible and drive a million miles to seek help for your child, a pet should be the same. I really hope he gets better, and may I ask your dogs names so I can pray for him to either get better or have a peaceful parrsih? God Bless!!

When my dogs don't eat, I get really worried, and the first thing I do is call the vet and tell them what the symptoms are. Very seldom does that happen, but when it does, I take them to the vet, and usually right away, they know what is wrong. It is usually nothing major, which is good, but a person never knows beings I am not a vet, I sure wouldn't be able to diagnose the situation. My 2 year old is a Bichon Frise and the 1 year old is a standard pomeranian. Since I am by myself I would be lost if anything were to happen to them.
