Do you Look before you Leap?

Do you think about the consequences of your actions before you do something or do you just go ahead and do it and hope for the best? I am a thinker so I think first. What about you?

Yes, I just go for the things without thinking and hope for the best.

I think a lot of people do that and hope that things will turn out okay.

I do look before I leap, but sometimes my eyesight isn't as good as it should be because I make mistakes. I will put that down to my age though rather than anything else. LOL But when we make a mistake, then we should learn from it, so I will keep on looking and thinking before leaping.

I hear that. As long as we learn from our mistakes we are making progress.

Sometimes I do look before I leap, but other times, i tend to just leap without thinking and end up getting hurt.

I guess everybody does that at some point. Some of us are more impulsive than others though. I tend to analyze things before I take the leap, but that is my personality and training.

As a general rule I would consider the consequences and decide on the best course of action before proceeding. Impulsive behaviour can only lead to problems and life offers enough of those without me having to create more. Despite this, there are always occasions when your anger or hurt will take precedence and I would react blindly just as most people would and think later. It is easy to behave responsibly most of the time, but impossible to cease being human and over reacting at times.

What you said is quite true. It is possible to be responsible most of the time and still react differently when you are angry or hurt, so I think it is best not to get angry. ;-)

I believe that thinking things through first comes with maturity.

I always try to think of the consequences first. Sounds like you need to be a little less impulsive, but I suppose we all are at some time or other. : )

Same here. That is also the reason, why you won't be getting the best of life. You think too much and you end up not doing it.

I usually do. But I often still take risky leaps, even when I know the risks. I like to shake things up. When I really want to do something and I have to take a risky “leap” I just close my eyes (figuratively speaking) and go for it. It’s scary, but I would not be where I am, or even progress in the future if I don’t take at least a few “leaps of faith”. (Please excuse the cliché).

The Thinker - Thinker
I have never been one to think the process through, if I want something or I see something I usually just go for it! I am working on trying to think things through before I act and as I get older I am leaning toward that new concept. This is a learned behavior and I think I never learned it. hahaha!

yes i strongly agree about it, i think twice before i do some decisions, i'm afraid to fail, i see to it that i will not regret with my decisions at the end.
