We have been learning about The Ten Commandments right from our childhood......there were many movies which were made on the ten commandments, many animated ones as well......and i hope we all know the ten commandments as well(you can refer to the image below just in case you don't) Just curious to know.....have you ever broken or gone against any one of the ten commandments????? And if we go against The Ten Commandments does that mean we are big time sinners????

That sounds like a very simple question. My initial response would be "no!" I have not murdered any one... but a little deeper thoughtful look and we have all lied. (especially church people!) At least most of us can say we are presently keeping them even if we have messed up in the past. But...Jesus said if we look at someone with lustful thought, we have committed adultery in our heart. 1 John says that if we hate someone we murder in our hearts. So they are actually much deeper than first percieved. It does go into issues of the heart. If we truly love God we will keep our heart pure. Proverbs says to guard our heart above all else at from it comes life.

That was so thoughtful my friend......never though of it, I also feel it depends on our job as well. it says keep your sabbath holy which means we need to spend it in prayer and meditation, but some jobs like hotels, etc have to work even on Sundays....so somewhere we are not keeping it holy.....just a thought though.... Thanks for responding

you make a very good point. I have a couple of thoughts on keeping the Sabbath. One: There isn't a particular day for the Sabbath. As long as you make one day a week a Sabbath I think that would cover it! Two: As Christians every day we are to enter into His rest every day... which makes every day a type of Sabbath for us... just some thoughts.

I don't think there is one person that hasnt broken one of the ten commandments. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Everyday we sin, But thank God he brough Jesus to us,which is why it is important to confess your sins every day and ask for the cleansing of the blood of jesus in your life. So as long as we are all here on planet earth, every person is guilty of breaking one of the ten commandments because sin dominates this world ever since Adam decided to sin against God. Sometimes I read the commandments and say I will not break them today but they are times when you sin and you don't even realise that you have sinned. So as good as the ten commandments are, you will always break at least one of them.. So remember to confess your sins and ask God for forgiveness everyday! Happy my lotting..

For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God as what Romans 3:23 says. All of us have broken the law that God set as a standard for us to straighten our lives. But what is good is that Jesus Christ paved the way for us, but that doesn't mean that we will just ignore the Ten Commandments. We need to take the Word of God as a whole, not just as were going to grasp, one Bible verse and stand on it. Every verses from the Bible correlates to each other. And it backs up everything. Joshua 1:8 says that Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth. Meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. It didn't say "so you may be careful to do something?", it says EVERYTHING written into it. Going back about the sins, we need to ask God for forgiveness and turn away from that sins we once loved. True repentance is followed by actions. But if we still commit the same sin, well God knows whats in our hearts. Bad tree cannot bear good fruits and vice versa.

all people are sinners, the ten commandments is summed up into two in the new testament. 1. love God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 2. love your neighbors as yourself. on the ten commandment it said do not commit adultery, in the new testament Jesus said, that having lust in your mind with somebody else is already commiting adultery. whether we are sinning against the ten commandments or not, i think it doesnt matter how you look at it (big time or not). a sin is a sin. a speck of dirt in a white cloth, make the whole cloth dirty. here's an example: i havent murder somebody, but i was angry with somebody that in my mind i wish him/her ill or i wished him/her to die, in the new testament Jesus said with that, you are still committing adultery. soooo... what do you follow now? how are you going to look at it now? for me we all are big time sinners, no one is perfect.
