I am suprised no one else has done a post on this yet, so here I am. It is reported that Obama himself was not aware of this little stunt and is pretty mad about it, and rightfully so. The pilots involved in this publicity stunt not only acted in moraly outragous manner, but also blatently violated the law in doing so. I am openly calling on Obama to not only FIRE those involved in this stupid stunt, but for the justice department to look in to prosecuting those repsponsable. I also call on the Atorney General of New York state to have them charged, extridited and arrested for it.

I agree. THis was illegal, irreponsible and unconsiderate. Not only was the stunt uncalled for....but just think of what those poor people in those building were thinking and went through. People need to answer for this.

It's just disgusting that this happened without the knowledge or approval from either the PRESIDENT or the Mayor of New York. They claim they informed the NYPD, but "It had a classified footnote that said "information in this document shall not be released to the public or the media"." http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/apr/28/air-force-one-new-york

Well, he is the boss and he can do anything. He is not suppose to do that actually. I think you should writes a letter to them. If it still happened, do not vote for him for the next election... Maybe.....

"Well, he is the boss and he can do anything" Actually no, thats not how it works here, the president is NOT the boss here, WE are, he is OUR EMPLOYEE and he is no more above the law than we the people are. But Obama himself is not reponsable for this, he was pretty upset about it actually, so I can't blame this one on him, but I do expect him to act on it.

Bad, bad, bad idea to do this. Those responsible should have told EVERYONE what they were going to do. Perhaps something good could come from this as we saw a picture of the hysteria that could occur in a terrorist threat or attack. How could the Homeland Security people better prepare so that mass hysteria doesn't cause even more deaths if an attack occurs? However, if I was one of those businesses whose day was interrupted becaues of the fiasco, I would be planning to sue for lost profits. There was surely an ecomonic loss to some of those businesses from the interruption.

my husband is telling me about this right now - yeah a real stupid stunt but also a mockery. husband says that the news claimed that B.O. authorized the act??? I sure hope that that is not true, as that would be absolutely horrendous of the commander in chief to make fun of those who suffered most greatly the treacherous attack on Americans on 9/11

The people responsible for this need to be fired, plain and simple. It's a disgusting breach of protocall that this was done without informing the proper authorities, or even the freaking president. Air Force One is the PRESIDENT'S PLANE. Just an FYI for anyone who thinks they did inform the authorities, Mayor Bloomberg disagrees. "Military Office Director Louis Caldera accepting responsibility and apologizing late Monday for permitting the exercise that infuriated New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who had not been alerted to the flyover." http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/04/28/new-york-city-jet-flyover-photo-flop-triggers-recriminations/100days/ First order of business, fire Louis Caldera. Second order of business, fire the person who is really responsible since I have no doubt that Caldera is taking a bullet for someone else.

Really. Who thought this was a good idea? In NEW YORK no less? I saw this on the news yesterday and it's amazing they actually did this. I remember someone saying that they thought the plane was about to hit a building. Someone also mentioned that her office saw the plane, panicked, and ran from their floor to the ground. Someone made a big mistake that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

I do not think anyone outside of New York really cares. It must have been frightening for those in the city though. Apparently they wanted air force one to be taken flying over the statue of liberty. I agree it was not a good idea.

"The photo-op cost $328,835, which includes personnel, maintenance and fuel costs, according to the Air Force" http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/04/28/new-york-city-jet-flyover-photo-flop-triggers-recriminations/ That's over three hundred thousand dollars of taxpayer money. I'm pretty sure other Americans (even outside of NY) will care about THAT!

oh my god, just shows the stupidity of some people, who in their right minds thought this was a good idea ?? Tho I am assuming they had filed a flight plan so no laws were broken if they had filed all the correct documents. But even if they had its pretty low thing to do, especially in the current climate.

I have read this on the news too. I really don't understand the reason to make such a big plane fly low quote on a very densely populated area just to make some photos. This seems really a nonsense to me. I imagine that given the history of manhattan people must have got really scared for that. At least they should have warned people before.
