For once, good news!

I have been living in my apartment for just under a year and in June my lease will be up. I was a bit worried about how much they were going to increase the rate if I decided to renew my lease and if I didn't or couldn't afford to, where was I going to move and how was I going to move there, considering I have no car? Not to mention, my credit is not all that good, and as it was my aunt had to co-sign for this apartment. Anyway, yesterday I got a notice in my door inviting me to renew my lease and at much less than what I am currently paying. Its a decrease of at least $50 a month and one month's free rent. I certainly can't turn that down. Have you had any good news lately?

fantastic! congratulations. I am sure you are VERY happy to sign the lease again. They must want to make sure, in these tough times, to keep their tennants. I would squirrel away that $50 as though everything was pay as usual and that way if you fall on even harder times you will have a little nest egg to help you stay in your apt.

That's a blessing. After worrying a lttle, something nice happened. God is good. Lifting us in times of financial crisis. Me, I was a little worried too as I am not earning these days and my pension was loaned so I don't have allowances, my son however announced he has a mid year bonus and he's giving me a part of it. I was delighted and felt happy I could have allowances that would facilitate my earnings.

How very nice of your son. That's really goodhearted to help you out like that.Unfortunately not all children are willing to do that.

wow Happy for you That is a really good news.unfortunately i am not luck as you. I have to pay a lot of rent for the landlord,And one thing let me very angry .They often says i use too much electricity.(because the electric rate and water rate all include in the rent) it is make me upset , I must use nearly 1/6 salary to pay the rent Actually i have on good news recently except i have a short travel .it only makes me a little happy.

Actually only using a sixth of your salary for your rent is really good. Mine is probably at least a third of my salary.

that is really great news kbourgerie... you got the answer for your problem and it is even better than what you expected... i never experience a decrease in rent and one month free rent when i was renting in the past... they always increase it or stay the same... but never decrease... now you can have a peace of mind and ease your worry for at least another 12 months... well done... take care and have a nice day...

I have to admit I was very surprised. I've never heard of a rent decrease either. I guess we are in an economic situation that warrants them having to do that.

It is nice to get good news. You had better jump on that. At least you won't have to worry about moving.

I hate moving. When I was growing up we moved every 15 months on the average. As you can imagine I now abhor having to move.

Gees... things must be bad in America. I never heard of a rent decrease in my life. The best I had was my rent not going up for 3 years. But I never had a rent decrease. In Australia... renewing your lease is optional. Very few people bother doing so. Renewing your lease only prevents the rent going up for 12 months. But everything else remains the same... unless you are worried about them asking you to leave.

Yes, I was a bit surprised myself to say the least. I knew there were quite a few empty apartments, but I didn't realize that it had gotten to the point that they would almost beg someone to stay. LOL. Suits me just fine though, the less neighbors the better and less rent to boot. What more can you ask for?

You can always try for more. lol Like asking them to give you a two years lease under the new rent.

That is wonderful kb, and I feel this is the way it should be when you have shown to be a good tenant. The monthly payments should go down a bit and having a free month is just great.

Thanks Moondancer. I haven't always paid on time, but I've done my best and apparently that speaks volumes in itself.

I was just telling someone else that you have to find happiness in what you have, even if it doesn't seem like much.

That is so awesome! Congrats! Good news - hmmm my boyfriend finally took the time to do his passport, I got a bonus just before easter. And the best news this year... My sister's tumor left from her cancer 10 years ago didnt grow as we feared, it shrunk and her tests all came back "clean" so we were all VERY VERY VERY happy as she is still officially in remission.

Your news is better than mine. Having someone conquer cancer is the happiest news you could possibly receive. I am very happy for you and your sister.

Wow, how wonderful. It must mean that they really want to keep you. As you are paying on that apartment you are also improving your credit. Wonderful news. We have had variable interest and I have been in this old house so long that the rates often go down instead of us. Pretty much the same feeling.

I'm not going to tell you that I have paid on time every month. But I have paid what I owed and any late charges I have accrued. You wouldn't believe the number of neighbors though that I have seen come and go. It seems like they last about a month and next thing you know they are cleaning out the apartment.

That is really wonderful news for you, kbourgerie and I'm happy for you definitely. I have had some good news too in the past when actually it was supposed to be a 'bad' moment and situation for me. Sometimes life's wonders are very puzzling and I always welcome blessings in disguise. Good news can last me for the whole week or month. I'm sure your good news will last for quite some time.

I advise you that don't move there.Though there is too much of rent,it's more safety and free here, you can postpone rent just say a word here. And the landlord is very good before they get paid, but if someday you have a some reason want to move there undue, they would not to return the deposit and so on,I have the similar experience before.

I don't think you understand. I already live there and I like living here.
