I very much doubt that there really are advantages for the seriously allergic person. I'm so allergic to corn that I have to worry that I could die. And so many things have corn in them, even many meds that I would love to take for my fibromyalgia

my allergist says that the corn fed to animals is processed enough that it is no longer corn, of course I'm allergic to almost EVERYTHING, even the fumes of corn popping will set me off too sounds like we oughta get together!

See comment to response 2. You are very unlikely to develop cancer. My allergy to corn include smelling the fumes from popcorn. Just over a year ago I shopped at our local Ace store, they were popping corn, and I was feeling fine. My food allergies are due to a DTH-based release of histamine and it is slow. I got my project done in a couple of hours before I started to slide into an allergic state. For breathing food fumes it takes 3 to 6 hours then it is like part 2 of the flu, after one's temperature breaks. I ache all over, if I try to do anything I am weak, while I am tired, I cannot sleep well. The symptoms generally runs 7 to 10 days. So, I bought a HEPA activated charcoal respirator for around $70. Replacement filters are around $22 a pair. I go through around one set of filters a month. Last summer was my best in years. Also, my corn allergy is so thorough that if a chicken or cow is corn-fed I will develop the same response just from smelling the meat cooking! same goes for soy for me. Good luck. Steve

Are you serious? I'm not seeing any. I've got HORRENDOUS allergies. They attack every spring and fall and sometimes in-between. My allergies are so bad that I freaked out the nurse when I got scratch tested. She then proceeded to tell me that I could go into anaphylactic shock and die any day of the year. I had to start on allergy shots immediately. And I can still sneeze fifteen times in a row! So please. Enlighten me.

Ally, As I replied above, we are members of a group very unlikely to develop fatal cancer. That is not to say that if you bathed in cancer causing chemicals that you would not develop cancer. Steve

About 1/2 mile from my house is this immaculate house with an immaculate lawn with a cherry tree in the middle. These people use herbicides, as do most commercial farmers to keep "weeds" like dandelions out of the grass. Now the cherry tree takes up the herbicides in the water and the herbicides are in the cherries that grandpa and grandma pick to make their cherry pies. These people, and most people eating commercially grown food are being slowly poisoned. A tip. Some people wash salad greens with a little soap in the water. Don't do this! The soap actually ensures any surface herbicide or pesticide stick to the vegetable then you ingest it. Simple washing does a fair job of removing surface chemicals. I mostly eat organic. Steve

Well I don't really plan on bathing in cancer-causing chemicals. I'm not really seeing the connection between the immune system and cancer. Allergies are essentially a hyper-active immune system. Cancer is where cells reproduce at an accelerated rate and sometimes attack healthy tissue.

Mmmmm. Contact dematitis is a delayed type hypersensitivity. Are you really allergic to soaps? I'm allergic to corn and soy that are common additives in commercial soaps so I have to be careful. I use Kirk's Castile bar soap, a hypoallergenic soap. It is formulated with coconut oil. SS

Honestly because of my allergies I don't have to dust the house or mow the lawn LOL. I think that is a good advantage sometimes haha.

A $70 HEPA respirator should protect you so that you can do your share. Steve

i have a sensitivity to scents and i don't know if it is an allergy but i suffer migraines whenever i'm exposed to strong odors. so i never have the chance to try out other toiletries which most of the time has a fragrance. and trying out different toiletries really takes a lot from the budget. so the budget is safe because of this

not really a lot. i mean they belong to the ones with perfumes or fragrances. but considering many products come along with scents, i can say, yes i'm allergic to a lot.

Mmmm? I am aware of people having allergies to proteins injected from biting insects. As for having a allergy-based 6th sense... I presume you are joking.

An early warning system for season change. That was all I could think of. Oh and if you do not like to be around people it helps that you are leaking mucus and are constantly crying (watery eyes)

You have lost me. What does XD mean? Or are you saying that an allegic kid would use their allergies as an excuse not to exercise? Steve
