How do you keep the love fresh over time?

I love making surprises for my husband. Even when we were not yet married, i do things that surprises him. Surprises which may include letters, cards, notes - just to put some spice on almost the same things we do together. i'm a hopeless romantic and would want to keep the romance in our relationship. my husband does the same. when he was still courting me, he would surprise me with things he secretly puts in my locker (stuffed toys, foods) and sometimes he would buy me flowers, hide it, and when he is about to leave, bring the flowers out. right now, he is away, working. i'm already planning of making a big surprise for him when he comes back.

i think aside from material expression a great deal of respect is what keeps love going...

It is hard to keep things fresh sometimes especially if its been a lot of years and you are in a long distance relationship, like me. My boyfriend and I usually do movie dates over the phone. We will pick a certain movie and watch it together as if we were physically close at that time. We also play games together and ask random questions. It seems to work and keep things going, which is pretty good.

Keeping dates to do out of the ordinary things seems to work for my boyfriend and me. The excitement of having an "adventure," whether it be a trip to an amusement park, or a hike, or going to a museum, or sometimes even just a road trip or a walk around town, is enough to spark our initial connection again. We learn new things about each other each time we go on one of these dates, even though we often think we already know everything there is to know about each other. Sharing these experiences with each other, too, brings us closer together.
