The Obama has given his Cabinet 90 days to find $100 million in budgetary savings. I wanted to see what the Federal government could be bought or paid for with 100 million dollar and here is what I found;
4 percent of the military aid the United States sends to Israel
Less than half the cost of one F-22 fighter plane
7 percent of the federal subsidy for the money-losing Amtrak passenger rail system
1 percent of all earmark spending, which was not suppose to be in the budget to begin with.
Oh well Obama is doing all he can to restrain budgetary spending by going line by line, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is done so he can claim that he did something in regards to savings. His supporters swallow it hook, line and sinker. It's amazing. To me they are just confirming how dumb they are, when they proudly declare that Bush was a spender and Obama is finally reigning in government spending. I do realize people don't juggle those numbers on a daily baisis, but even my Kindergartener knows that a trillion is more than $100 million, much more.
How much are the savings if we don't pay the president, vice president and congress for a year or the next four years? That should be a nice amount....

A senator or congressman makes $162,000/year. There are 100 senators and 435 representatives in congress. That's 535 times $162k equal $86,670,000. Take a quarter of their pay, they are overpaid anyway. Speaker and such get even more. So do president and vice president. We'll probably make it close to $25 million in savings right there.;)

Actually 100 million dollars is nothing in the us federal budget, i personally think that the biggest budget cuts have to be done on the defence sector. The iraq and afghanistan wars had costs comparable to the financial crisis and they actually didn't solve the problems that they were meant to fix.
What really worries me is that the us are covering all the deficits (both federal and in trade balance) by printing more money. The impression is that the us is importing goods and exporting printed paper, if the chinese and the arabs lose faith in the us dollar we can expect huge troubles.

i believe you will be able to get anything for sale with that amount of money. of course, only worth a hundred million... nothing more than that, you can't buy feelings, a thought(maybe if you get to have the right for a hundred million dollars.. but still you will only get the kind of materials that wither with time... perhaps.

I got an idea... cut all foreign aid, cancel all Congressional pay raises and pensions, including the president's as well, cancel SCHIPS, eliminate the Department of Education, Homeland Security, EPA, and all of those other useless offices, and get back to the Constitution.
That would be a good start, and would save much more than the 100 million.

I have often wandered what in the world is going on here too. I see money going here and there for this and for that and none of it seems to be helping the actual economy get back on track. It is worse now than ever and we are giving money to other countries in need. Where did that money come from if we are in such a state of depression?

He can get his children to go to a public school, take his own paper bag lunch to the White House, walk when he could ride, drive a second hand car instead of a limosene. I bet he will find ways to save the 100 Million Dollars that do not impact him. But then he is a hypocrite, he will expect everyone else to save except for him.

Woah...guys the man has inherited a deep load of S*** I'm not supporting all of his decisions but atleast he is making some that make sense but won't be a good fix. There are may be thousands of underlying reasons why he can't or can do something for the U.S current situation and the American public was so hoping for a quick fix. For deep S*** that everyone is in quick fixes don't exist. So my opinion in this is just wait and see...he is in a current state of trial and error but making decisions that are educated and not hidding out in Texas while hunting and playing with hunting dogs and declaring wars on countries that didn't attack the US in the first place...So lets just hide our pitch forks and wait and see.

I need a big house, a excellent cars, then I will take a trip...lol. Meanwhile, I would like to think about using my money to invest, then I can get more and more, not only 100 million dollars. OK, who dont like money ? who dont need more money ? I won't....
