Hi To All Mylotters here. There was this person who posted a message here on Mylot telling people that he/she earned $8.00/ hr by joining a site. So to all our Mylotters surprise most of them asked that person to pm them the link, we did invite that person to be in our friend list so that he/she will pm. Now the person replied and sent the link but the problem was when i looked at it, something is so fishy, the site was so boring and there no such FAQ or TOS on the site, no information if it was a PTC or PTP, nothing, it just says Travel. So what i did, i copy pasted the url without the person's referral link just to check it first because i think the site is such a fake. After signing up and all, the next page went to webpage you want to advertise. So i put my url and then click next, automatically the third page went to paypal account telling that you need to pay $300.00 first. I got surprised to the amount and definitely leave the site. Some people here will just do anything to take advantage of people just for referral's sake. I wonder how many people here in Mylot did this person victimize. So my advice, be very careful of those people giving links. Check the site first if it's valid. If it's ok, it is upon your discretion to join them, if you don't trust then never join the site. Any advice is open here on how can we detect fake site or scam sites and not to be taken advantage for.

Thanks for informing us about this matter. So far, i haven't got to know about this particular way of earning money. Maybe because i seldom visit Mylot recently, as i am quite busy with my family schedule. Yeah, most important is, we must check first before joining any sites. Make sure that we are not being cheated by them. Happy mylotting...

No problem, i just wanted to tell all my friends here to be careful not to be scammed because a lot of people are taking advantage instead of helping a co member.

I stay away from those post on here. I am not very trusting of people I do not know that well and have not taken some time to get to know something about them.

I seen tht discussion and avoided it. It screamed scam right off to me. It seemed to good to be true. I thank you for sharing the in formation you found out. I think more mmbers need to share what they think are scams or spam. WE can only help each other by letting them know.

Oh!! we appreciate that information. Well, I am not easy to join any promotion that has been shared here. I know there are many people who want to take advantage specially if they see that many are interested. Well, in this hard time, there are many who want to try anything they can to earn money. Let's just be wise in joining any so called.. money earning sites/ There are lost of fake there.

I wish MyLot would just make it a no-no to give details on making money sites - or at least take it off the Daily Digest. Seeing posts like that earning a scammer even more bucks is just an insult to the rest of us. At the very least, they should lose whatever earnings they've made from the post. I do hope it was reported for violating the rules!

yeah, some people are really here only for money, thick faced and they want them to be included in your friend list and didn't thought of the damage they can do. This person sent a link to other people to get them under his/her roof and when they register, the next thing that you will see is that you have to pay. I was just so careful i did not include his referral just to see the site first. Now we better be careful about referral links given here. We don't know if they have trojans or key loggers that will capture our password and they can manipulate our account even our paypal. So i suggest you have a very good anti virus and PC Cleaner. Don't use the same password for your paypal account and for all the sites you signed up for. It is better to be careful than to be sorry.

Hey strawberry I actually did come across that discussion and I responded by telling him that he should be solicitating people here. I'm usually disgusted when people put discussions about making $8 an hour or something like that. Luckily I don't pay attention to these scammers anymore.. I think the my lot admin should terminate the account of anbody trying to sell stuff as this is not a market. But thank you for warning us and reminding us again about that.. your a wonderful soul. Cheers happy my lotting xx

Yes, you have to be careful. Scammers are everywhere especially on sites like this where people are looking to make a quick buck. Please be careful and don't trust anybody with any personal information. You never know who's on the other side of the screen!

Yes, you are right, we should be very careful of not to trust that easily particularly when joining a site, if there's a virus or whatsoever.

Yeah you have to be careful. Mylot is not like facebook. It is really hard to know who your friends are. Even in RL it is hard to really know a person.

Thank you for posting. I think sometimes people 'trust' others here too much and get stung. I haven't, but heard of others making discussions about things like this. I don't get it and will never understand people that just want to screw others over.

Well, one thing for me is sure. They love money more than to have decent morality and integrity. Be careful not to sign up for referral links. Check the site first and don't use their referral id. If you see that the site is virus free and if the site is not a scam, then you can decide next if you will continue to use the site and be a good referral.

Great post. I saw that discussion but didn't fall for it. These fakers just make it real hard for honest people to get referrals. Any advice, anyone, on how to get more referrals through myLot?

THanks for the advice, I wonder why people take the extra time to do that though, like what is the benefit for them? What kind of referrals are they getting?

i'm sorry you were a victim. good thing i wasn't. actually, the doubtful sites are, i think, easier to spot. most of the time they come from the same people who seems to post nothing but how to make money.

I'm so glad you posted this! I just assumed that anybody posting work at home jobs here would not scam you. There are a lot of people here at mylot like myself, for example, who are looking for a work at home job that won't scam you and you don't have to pay anything to sign up. $300.00 is just ridiculous to pay for anything like this! I don't blame you for leaving the site. I have been scammed in the past and I can't afford for this to happen again. I'm looking for something to supplement my SSI check. Anyway, it is a good idea to check these sites out before joining them. This wouldn't happen to be Craigslist that you signed up for, was it? I mean, I know you said you left it. I was just checking, that's all. I checked this out last night but it didn't say anything about Travel. It didn't say anything about me needing to pay $300.00, either. If it did, I would have just left it, like you did. I don't know if I'm going to sign up for Craigslist or not. I may want to look it over again first. Kathy.

This is just so cruel. I have learned over the years to research everything before you join or even want to get involved in. Like my mom always told me if it sounds to good to be true then it probably is. I do exactly what you do... I research. I look in the FAQ and Terms and Condition before joining anything. I, myself, subscribe to survey and a couple of paysites. All I can say is be careful because there are scammers out there.

I think I came across the same Mylotter...tsk tsk. Some people will do everything to earn, even to the point of doing this stuff. Not good.

Hello. Yes, it's true Life is full of fakes. Fake websites, fake jobs, fake emails, and the most harmful... fake people. I have had many problems with getting myself into problems with small-time scams and distrustful emails... I guess we all were young once. Needless to say, people taking advantage will never stop, and as technology advances, scammers will have no choice but to get smarter right along with the rest of the world. Fortunately, as long as you remember not to give out personal information and you do not buy anything (or INTO anything) that looks even a little fishy, you're pretty much okay.
