fighting the crowds

WE have been waiting for our local garden show for several weeks now, but when we got there this morning it was so crowded that I said I'd rather go home and try tomorrow early. I just couldn't enjoy myself when it was so crowded. Hubby agreed so we came home and will try again tomorrow. Have you ever done something like that because of the crowds?

Once, I did that when I was younger. I wanted to go to a St. Patrick's Day parade, because my birthday is on that day. The crowds were too big and crazy and I wanted to go home. Now, if I know there's going to be too much crowding, I just avoid going to the place.

I try to do that too, smartie. Not go to places like that, but sometimes it's inevitable. At least for me, if I wait to long to replace something, like t.p., then I just have to go. I dread that, but it's my own fault, for I just avoid stores if I can.

I don't like crowds either and would have done the same as you. I hate waiting in queues as well and have often left a supermarket rather than stand in a long line. Now with electronic check out things are better. In my native Scotland I know many places away from the normal tourist routes and can spend a full day fishing with just sheep and cattle for company. I love it. In Germany it is not so easy but I have found a few places that are quiet and peaceful.

Oh yes, you better believe it. Not to long ago I turned around and came home from Walmart. Besides not being able to find a parking spot, except out in the left field somewhere, I just knew it was going to be busy in there. I just drove pretty much a U-ie around and right out the parking lot. I was like forget this what I needed to get was not all that important and definitely could wait. I went back later that night, about an hour before they closed, still busy but definitely not like it was that morning. I especially can not stand it around the holidays. I think too, I just have this thing with overly crowded places. I just can't stand being elbow to elbow and alot of times, people just don't pay attention to where they are going or doing. I like to be able to breathe and move, even if it's just a little.

I have some health issues that do not allow me to stand for long periods of time, so I don't attempt to fight crowds. I've heard of long lines at Disney World, where people stand for hours waiting to get one ride. Even before the health problems, yes, I've given up fighting too-large crowds and gone back another day.

Hey pat! I would probably have done the same thing! I hate crowds! You just can't enjoy yourself if you can't move around and take your time and really be able to see what you came there for! I would have done what you did and taken the chance to try again earlier tomorrow after the first day rush crowd has seen it first! I hope you are luckier tomorrow and are able to see what you went there for!

Definitely! I don't like crowds and I hate long queues and I have a really hard time avoiding both! They have amazing Boxing Day sales here every year; I have been one time and it was enough to last me a lifetime! The driving around for 40 minutes looking for a car park, the people and the queues were hell on earth; it was truly horrible, got some bargains but they were not worth the stress. I avoid crowds whenever I can.
