As the title suggested, I was looking for reasons that why are you asking us to not to have bath in cold water. I didn't find any reasons in your discussion. I enjoy cold water in summer as well as winter because I do't have any option of having warm water in winter time!

Oh I take shower with cold water each day. And oh I love it so much. I do not like to shower more than once, but when I do, I enjoy it thoroughly. It gives a soothing feeling to the body and I have never had any problems because of it. I used to have a running nose when I was showering some years ago, but now nothing like that is happening. Looks like my body has finally gotten used to it. bourne

Well here, taking a shower on cold water is unavoidable. Water here is pretty cold especially in the morning to there's no choice but to take a shower even if it's cold. Warming some water would just be a waste of time especially when i need to get out of the house too early. I don't really use tub so i don't dip myself on cold water for too long. I think it just depends on if you are already used to it or not.

We're quite similar in experience with cold water me not flu but a little cold but I can manage a cold water after starting with a warm one. With the heat however today, perhaps I can manage to to take a shower under a cold water, besides I have hypertension so am alwaya after a cooler temperature.

I generally prefer a hot or warm shower, but if it's really hot out, I will take a cooler one. Sometimes, like when camping, or working in certain places, I have no choice but to take a cold shower because that' all that is available. I figure I'd rather be clean, and so I can put up with a few minutes of discomfort and shivering to get clean. I don't think I've ever gotten sick as a result of taking a cold shower, and I do tend to catch colds often. I would avoid taking a cold shower if I had no way to get warm quickly afterwards, though. Just because prolonged exposure to cold temeperatures can weaken the body's immune defenses, and cold water chills you quicker and more thouroughly than cold air does. Other than that, though, there's probably nothing particularly unhealthy about cold showers.

Hi, I live in a tropical country and we usually prefer taking cold showers since it refreshes our body from the heat and its also a way to wake up the body in the mornings hehehe. I take cold showers even on rainy seasons, our water here is never really icy cold, but its cold enough to make you shiver hehe i think the reason your body reacts to cold showers is because you are not used to it. I like hot tubs, it helps me to relax and unwind at night. but I prefer cold showers in the morning to perk me up, hot water makes me feel sluggish and sleepy.

Oh I thought there was something bad to taking cold showers. I actually love cold showers when it's really humid and hot summer's day. I makes me feel refreshed and pumped up for the day. But if it's cool time, most especially during the wee hours in the morning, I'd rather have hot showers else I'd be stuck in the bathroom doing nothing due to the cold water in the early dawn.

I don't see any thing wrong using cold water to take a shower, in fact it is so refreshing during this summer, but if is very cold sometimes i use warm water to feel comfort during cold season, whenever when you ha a flu just use warm water to resist the harmful fact that the flu would give to you.

Personally, I prefer warm water when taking a shower myself. I hate the thought of taking a Cold shower unless it is really Hot out, and I want to do this to cool off. For me, I prefer quite warm water when taking showers, and like the warm water to help me relax. But I guess it would be to each their own.

Cold water does not give you flu. Your body is definitely reacting to the shift in temperature because you are exposed to cold water. Basically, water has a cooling effect. Your body is attuned with a certain temperature that is conditioned by your mind. So, when you think cold water will give you a flu-like experience, you will definitely get it. Perhaps previous experience that was coincidental has caused you to believe that way... Moreover, body structures have also something to do with tolerance to cold temperature and uhm like I said, some beliefs related to homeostasis (like that yin and yang) can also influence how you perceive things. Have a great bath and yeah, it's nice to experience what others do too and find out your limits. Have a great time!

I don't have any problem using cold water. Your resistance to diseases may be low.

Cold water I think does not give flu as flu is caused by a virus. Exposure to cold maybe but not the cold water per se not unless if it's dirty. People using cold water to take a bath can tolerate the temperature. Some people use it for medical reasons, to constrict blood vessels and to close pores of the body. Try it now to be be accustomed with the temperature. You will find it beneficial too.
