I have received a dvd from my uk friend about a man who take care of foxes in London. Its nice to know that there are several others people that are animal lovers and to take care of them. It seems that most of the times it's the negative news about animal cruelty which hit the news. Why is it so?

Sad to say my friend that good news doesn't make good reading and doesn't sell papers! Papers seem to home in on the doom and gloom which sells! How often do we read in the papers about successful stories, people who have done good in the world or 'happy stories'? No they are not best sellers, people seem to thrive on tragedies, scandal, hate and hearing that others are having a bad time. It's wrong I know but it seems that bad news sells more than good news. Scandal is the name of the game and it's negativity all the time which is plastered over the front pages, who's killed who or who's having it off with who. Never who's done something good for the people!

You are absolutely right! I hear so many people say that they hate hearing all of the bad news when there is so much good news out there. But when it comes down to it, people will buy the newspaper to hear about the terrible abuse or animals a bridge collapse. But they wont rush to by that same newspaper when the headlines are about rescuing foxes or building a better bridge! That good news is sometimes reported, but never on the front page! You have to go looking for it. But in order to do that, you have to get past all of the doom and gloom!

animal cruelty is bad news, and bad news is always good news.people prefer watching bad news rather than good news.they find bad news interesting.bad news create a longer airtime because of the reactions they get from people.when people hear bad news, there opinions are so varied,it creates a debate.it can last for a long time.while good news will only generate positive reactions, then it is done already.

I guess it is because there are some people who consider animals more important then children so rather then hear about children being left out in the rain while their parents play bingo, we hear about puppy mills and a lady who had so many cats that they turned on each other. I am a dog lover. I go crazy when I see a puppy, but I am more of a baby and child lover and I am more sympathetic about children getting hurt then a dog getting lost. I do think they should, however, write about animals being rescued, or someone finding nice homes for animals, or what i LIKE those people who take dogs and cats into hostels to help the people there.

I remember years ago when just the mention of neglect got the child removed, and if one was unmarried even the slightest blemish on their character got the child removed. Now it has gone the other way and yet there are people who report for every little thing. I do wish that there would be those who would help people before they abuse the child and also that the severe cases get reported so that other people might take warning, but it seems the people are more concerned about animals. You see animals can't talk back, children can.

every unit of our environment is in danger, and there is a need of perfect balance of all the elements for ecosystem to be in balance, so the departments are setup everywhere to save the ecosystem, its not only about animals, there are people working for tree, water and energy conservation. Animals are also part of our environment and so when there is merciless killing or misuse of them then it naturally becomes news, and it should be, otherwise people doing it will not feel shameful and one day will come when men will have to live alone only air around them, rest all will be extinct.

lol =D That has that been the case, not just concerning animal cruelty but to all other things as well.. Most of the time, only bad things will surface as headlines but never good things.. I guess, only bad things will be able to attract our attention as compared to those good deeds.. PLus, PITY, is the magic to gaining popularity and attention to whatevr things that are happening.. Thus, negative things are always the one to hit the news 1st..

I can tell you in one word, Money. It's bad to say but they know that's what sells. This is true with about any news that you hear about animals or people.

Animal cruelty is in the headlines to make people aware of what is going on and to bring stiff laws and punishments to those who commit these crimes. Only way to make things stop is by public awareness. Let the public know what the person did was wrong and being charged brings public awareness, people start talking and the word spreads like wild fire.

I think it's the same thing with most kinds of news. Sadly the old adage "no news is good news" (meaning that if there is no news, everything must be fine) holds true, and has now turned into "no news is good news" saying that no good news is ever reported. This old adage seems to have a double meaning.

There are a lot of places that care for animals here, both wild and domestic. There are donkey sanctuaries, animal shelters... you name it! Sometimes, we'll see reports on the television in favour of them but they often get forgotten, as you say, until something bad happens, which they pick up on very quickly. When I worked for American Express, we used to have a community programme going where team by team, we would have half a day or so out of our worktime, helping in places like wildlife sanctuaries. It involved wire meshing to keep the animals from wandering onto the roads or unsafe territory, planting, cleaning out ponds etc. etc. It was fun and gave to the community. Brightest Blessings.

I believe that news is usually bad news not just about animals but people too.

Animal cruelty is always making news because there is hardly any good laws protecting animals that have any penalties. The laws that r there to protect man hardly have any protectionto them now ie: commit a murder if u have money u get off , if u don't go to jail. New laws to start, judges tend to give max amounts of punishment. Animal cruelty toches evenones heart, it knows no boundaries. Race , color, religion or crede have pets and treat them good as a whole.

Hello my friend ronaldinu Ji, Cruelity being hi-lighted by media more. Animals are speechless for human beings as we do not understand their language now-a-days in generals . No one represents their case. Why to talk about animals, all news papers are full of un-socal acts only. May God bless You and have a great time.

Most of the time it is negative stories that hit the news about everything, not just animal related items. That is just the way things go.

hello. well, my opinion on this is that negative news bring awareness to some of the things that are going on. we want mre animal lovers, we want our animals to be treated well. like, if the story about the man taking care of foxes got out and well known rather then the story about foxes being abused, then the taken care of ones would be even better taken care of, but the ones being abused would get no care. and also, the people who are doing things are often very caring people (haha, they have to be), and so they don't need attention to be happy. they are, or should, be perfectly content just knowing that theyre making a difference in someone--something-'s life :). I know that when I do something good, I don't try to brag about it. or at least I try NOT to brag about it in other words. I think its not worth it. I should be content just knowing. but encouraging people to make a difference IS worth it. and it is goood :) but anyways, hahah Ill go. peace !

In my country...my dear friend, the bad outweighs the GOOD! And, also GOOD things don't always make good headlines! Sadly enough, here, there are more cases of animal cruelty, puppy mills, breeders, horses, pets kept in such deplorable conditions, that when this is finally discovered, the media coverage helps find homes for these totally deprived animals! Next door to me, there is a huge property, and the lady has more than 70 horses that she has rescued from deplorable conditions....she does not want GOOD press, as people doing the good work that she is, would be overwhelmed with "broken" animals, and there is only so much that she can do! Cheers!

well i guess there are quite a few reasons. firstly is of course the number of occurrences. there are so many cases of animal abuse happening that even if one out of a hundred makes it to the news it's quite often already. also, people are interested in knowing about these kind of things. it makes them feel better about themselves because they are not so cruel. another reason is the publicity on such cases often bring animal lovers together to do something. this is a good enough reason to publish the story.

Hi ronaldinu, That is because it is sensational news that sells, whether it's about animals or humans. Journalists aren't looking for news that doesn't sell. It is very unfortunate but it is the truth. We always hear about the teenager who gets in trouble with the law, but little about the majority of young people who are good law abiding citizens. Blessings.

I don't know. I guess because most entertainment is about drama and negative news creates that kind of drama. Nice stuff is too fluffy for it to really hold any of our attention. That's why we get the good news in sporadic spurts. Just my opinion. Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

Now the news headline is Swine Flue.In Mexico it's epidemic. This virus is spreading in other countries. To prevent this disease thousands of pigs have been killed in Egypt. Is it not cruelty to animal? We use animals for our own benefit. But when any animal create harms we kill them.Humans are very selfish.

I guess it shocks and makes good headlines. The other side of it is that at least it makes people aware of what can happen to animals and make readers angry enough to be on the look out for those abusing animals and how much work animal protection organisations do. There are a lot of horrible things being done to animals that we would not be aware of if it wasn't made public; we need to be aware in order to stop it.
