Yesterday I was cutting the lawn and I drove over a snake. I wounded it very badly, and I felt terrible. I didn't want to see it suffer, but I couldn't bring myself to end it's life. I had to get my husband to finish it off with a hatchet. Horrifying, I know, but the poor thing was writhing in pain and I felt sick seeing it suffer. What would you do?

if you could still make it out to a veterinarian then you must go to the vet. even i dont know what to do if i could be at your part. i would really be confused on what things that i must do and how could i do it. maybe its better to ask for help also to people who might help you on what to do with the wounded snake.

I would probably do the same thing you did. I wouldn't want it to suffer, but I would not be able to finish up the job either. I would probably go and find someone else who could do it. I would not want it to suffer. It is the right thing to do, but I don't think I could do it.

I am deathly scared of snakes and I could not have coped with this situation. However, if I had to then I would have killed the snake I am sure. I do not like killing anything but if I was th eonly person there then I would have tried to pluck up the courage to do so. It would be better for the snake to die than for me or anyone else to get bitten by it.

The snake could have bitten you if you didn't drive over it. I am scared of snakes so I think you did the right thing about calling out for your husband to help you end its life. I would do the same thing but I would NOT watch. I wouldn't even look at it after realizing that I drove over it. I would run away as soon as possible and call my husband...oh and I would scream like hell while running too. LOL I'm really scared of snakes.

Poor slithering snake...but, accidents to happen. You're lucky you have a husband because the man of this house is only 12 years old and he'd want to keep it rather than killing it. *Pleiades
