I would be able to help you out, but I can't. I was going to do the same thing many, many moons ago, when I was around 19 years old. I had my ticket, my bags packed, my visa ready, then I got a telephone call from a doctor that put a screeching halt to my plans. I was told I had cancer. THAT sucked! The cancer was operated on and has never returned, but I never did get to Ireland. It just seems like life had a way of always getting in the way. I was going to start out in Dublin and take it from there. So, I can't tell you where you should or shouldn't go. But, I'm sure there are enough folks from Ireland here who will help, or have helped. (I'm answering from an email so I have no idea how many other responses you've received already.) Anyway, I hope you have a GREAT trip and catch bunches and bunches of fish! (I'm so envious!)

That's so cool! I'm part Irish but I have no idea who my Irish ancestors are. My mother was doing her geneaology and I have mountains of paperwork yet to go through so I might be able to find out. I know I'm part German, too, and I know that name: Kaline. I'd love to do the same, but I'd be traveling all over since I also have Scottish, English and French blood in there, too. I'm a mutt. LOL I've wanted a garden gnome, it seems like forever, but it would be even cooler to have one of the little people wandering around in my garden! I won't need his pot o' gold because it looks very likely that I'll be getting that from our own sweet government soon (yeah, right... sweet ). Maybe I'll be able to take that trip soon myself! I'd offer to timeshare with you because I live in the mountains and everything is very green right now, but still not as green as Ireland. If you happen to meet a guy named John O'Toole, tell him hi for me. He's a very old friend from way back. Of course, in Ireland, I bet there are dozens of guys named John O'Toole. LOL This one drinks... oh, wait... that won't help... isn't Ireland famous for that? (JUST KIDDING, anyone from Ireland who's reading this!!! Just kidding!!!) Well, I wish you much luck in finding a timeshare! Catch a big fish for me, okay?

I am so jealous and green with envy right now!..I wanna go... I have always wanted to travel to Ireland..It has always been a place that I have one day wanted to go.. so if you go I am hoping that you will take a few pics and share them with us here at mylot. I have searched and it said that Inistioge (County Kilkenny): Nestled in the Nore River Valley, surrounded by undulating hills, this riverfront village with two spacious greens and a host of pubs cries out to be photographed. Its rivers and lakes are swimming with fish and attract hosts of anglers. http://www.frommers.com/destinations/ireland/0226020855.html http://travel.nytimes.com/frommers/travel/guides/europe/ireland/frm_ireland_0226020855.html Hope these links will be of some help.

I have no idea where to go. We were planning to go to England and then to Wales before my husband's stroke. I would more likely if I were going to Ireland would be to tour the counties and go to the small towns. You could try the Islands and County Cork. From that tourist site, they might be something you would like. http://www.discoverireland.ie/DI/resultsengine/attractions.aspx?SearchString=&CategoryID=1265&CountyID=970&LocationID=970&LocationName=All+towns&Radius=&thisPage=1&PageSize=10 http://www.discoverireland.ie/southwest.aspx Ah yes fishing =http://www.discoverireland.ie/DI/resultsengine/Activities.aspx?LocationID=970&CategoryID=29&LocationName=&CountyID=879&SubCategoryID=29&Radius=0&SortBy=1&thisPage=1 Hope this helps.

I have never been to Ireland, only saw it in movies. It looks beautiful though. I hope you get the answers you are looking for and will share details after you go. I would love to go there some day. But I would have no idea where to go either. Have a wonderful time.
