I'm getting my cat tonight!!

I finally did it! After wanting a cat for years, I finally went to the adoption center and got one! I chose her out of the five or so cats that were there and I think she is adorable and very sweet, though she was scared because they were doing a dog adoption the same day and they were all barking and howling like mad. I couldn't take her home right away because she needed to be spayed (got spayed monday) so I'm picking her up tonight! I've had dogs but this will be my first cat. Is there anything experienced cat owners can tell me about what to expect?

They are great. You have to keep showing her where the liter box is, until she gets familiar with her new settings. Usually a day or two is about all it takes then they know where to go. Be prepared for a bed companion, my female sleeps on my husbands chest and my male sleeps on my feet. Sometimes they will also act like they are nursing on the sheets, I had one that would suck my sheets and knead at them. At first it was very odd, but she evidentually grew out of it. I think it all depends on when they are taken away from their mothers. If you are ever trying to read something that seems to be when they want to sit in your lap, or rub in your face. Just enjoy and have fun.

Thanks for that advice. I am going to set up the litter box in a little while. I'm trying to decide where to put it. The obvious place is in the bathroom but my bathroom is too small. I can't put it in the kitchen, obviously, and I don't want it in the living room because that's where my guests are. I could put it by the door but I don't want her to go near the door because if I open it, she might run out if she's used to being there. That only leaves my room, and I don't think I'd want it there. I will have to make up my mind soon, I'm leaving to get her in a half hour!!
