Tuna casserole is not a dish that I normally make and when I have it, I usually just take a small portion and pick at it. It was always something that I could live without. No more! The one I had Monday night was made with sour cream, Mozarella and Cottage cheese plus a can of Brocolli soup. Let me tell you - it was delicious. So light and tasy. The topping was bread crumbs, to cut down on the amount od cheese used in the dish. And yes, Rosie is going to give me the recipe Do you like tuna Casserole and what flavourings do you put in it to spice the taste up?

Anything with that much cheese and sour cream has to be good!! Sounds delicious! I generally like tuna casserole but not really love it either. So no good ideas from me about spicing it up a bit... I DO hope you post the recipe from your friend here! I would definitely be interested in trying that one!

Once I get the recipe then I can price. I expect the price varies form country to country. You can always cut down on cheese by using yoghurt - you still get a very creamy dish. Thanks for responding

Hi ya cynthiann Ooo I think I would like that recipe too. I usually make ours with wholemeal pasta and use tinned pink salmon rather than tuna as the my boys find the tuna taste a bit too strong. I then mix it all with some steamed brocolli and add a sauce made from a packet (I know that's cheating!) then I top it with cheddar cheese and crunched up plain crisps and stick it in the oven until the cheese starts to bubble and turn brown. Yummy!!

That sounds grteat. I like the idea of using crisps as a topping. If I am making a shepher's pie, then I add bacon that has been cooked and mixed with crushed cornflakes about 10 15 minutes befoer the dish is ready. I have the rtecip[e now but so much work and not enough time to post this week. Will try to do it tomorrow morning.

I do not remember having tuna casserole for a long time, well since I was young Usually we have salmon and I do not like salmon casserole either. And it takes better by itself, creamed, salmon steaks, etc. in sandwiches especially those cute little pinwheel ones with cream cheese and pimentos. Oh and the tuna casserole I had I loved, but I cannot remember what it had in it, but I know there was not what your recipe had.

almon is my favourite. I am not reallya fish eater. I could have a salmon steak for dinner every evening and not get fed up with it. Actually I did that for a month. I bought 2 huge salmon fillets and divided each one in 14 portions and froze them. I took one out every eveing and grilled it the following evening after work for dinner. so delicious even though it was so expensive.

The closest thing to tuna casserole I've ever made was a Tuna Helper that was a cream sauce with peas and carrots along with the noodles. I liked it a lot. Kind of like chicken a la king, minus pimentos (which I can't stand). If and when I make something, I have to keep my daughter in mind who won't eat seafood unless it's tuna salad swimming in mayo. What you had does sound interesting though. Maybe you can share the recipe when you get it.

Definitely. You brought back a memory mentioning pimentos. We used to have pimento trees on opur farm and every summer the branches of the trees would be broken and we would havbe to pick pimento berries from morning to night. We would do it at night too. Then we had to clean iot before selling it. It was so much work and now a days I cannot bear to smell pimento and do not want it in any food. Because of a hurricane my husband and I did it ourselves ones year and used the money to get our boys back to school. It was back breaking work. I will definitely share the recipe. Thanks for responding

That sounds really good. Do me a favor and share the recipe once you recieve it, I'd love to give that a try. I've only ever made the average tuna noodle casserole, same way my mom made it, and I like it. I don't make it often though because hubby won't eat it.

Hey cynthiann! I have never liked tuna casserole either! And I surely have never heard of it being made like that with all those cheeses and the brocolli soup! I can't imagine how it could have tasted! That sure is alot of cheese! I am very curious about the recipe now myself! So what did Rosie do to make it taste so wonderful that it got you to eat it and want to make it? I can't wait to hear!
