Eating blueberries could help you get rid of belly fat, and a blueberry-enriched diet could stem the conditions that lead to diabetes. New research gives tantalizing clues to the potential of blueberries in reducing risk factors for cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome. The effect is thought to be due to the high level of naturally occurring antioxidants called phytochemicals contained in blueberries. Researchers studied the effect blueberries had when added to the diet of rats. After 90 days, rats that received a blueberry-enriched diet had less abdominal fat, lower triglycerides, lower cholesterol, and improved fasting glucose and insulin sensitivity. What an interesting fact. My sister-in-law has diabetes and so does my uncle. I am going to make it a point to share this information with them. I see this article is a little old, sorry for posting to it so late. But it appears that it is staying on your active list. I wished I would have read it when it was first published. We have a lot of places that grow blueberries around here, I don't know if you call them farms, but I could have gotten some from blueberries straight from the field. That would have been excellent. It would also be superb to reduce my belly fat. I am always looking for new ways to do this. I have tried walking and bicycling, and it seems to help my bottom, but doesn't seem to do anything for my belly. Thanks again for the information and have a great day here on myLot!

Sadly I do not like blueberries which is a pity, but it is good to hear about, I also heard that grapefruits also help to burn off fat in the belly, I think it's to do with the acid in the grapefruit, hence the grapefruit diet which has been affective. I love grapefruits. There are other fat burning foods that are available also. Maybe I should force myself to eat blueberries, at least they are small enough to swallow without having to chew or bite. Thanks for the info.
