Yes! I do this but I highly discourage you from doing so. It really becomes an unhealthy obsession after a while, and it can turn into being a compulsive diet-er or even can run the risk of developing an eating disorder and having an overall poor sense of mental health. Anyway, if you're looking to lose weight, you should really just modify some of your bad (eating) habits and learn how to eat to sustain yourself without going overboard (or without depriving yourself).

I agree, calorie tracking can become obsessive. Changing your habits rather than dieting is definitely the best way to go! It will help you lose the weight and keep it off. And no one likes to go without their favorite foods all of the time!

If you want to lose weight - definitely keep track of what you eat and how much you eat. It makes a difference. Small calories add up - you will realize this if you keep track. And calorie counting isn't that bad - you can find free ones online. I can recommend one if you want. Just PM me. Doesn't cost me anything to refer you. It's just a website that I use and I think is very easy to use. And it's free! =)
Also keeping track of your weight is very important - to determine where you were once and where you are now.
Weight Watchers cost too much - i think.

I have tried a lot of diets and I think that keeping a food diary has helped me the most. I think more about the foods I eat and the little things I snack on through the day.
I got the the point where there was candy around but I didnt eat it because I didnt want to take the time to write it down. When I am keeping track of what I eat I eat better and put more thought about what I am putting in my mouth.
It has worked for me.

I have done both in the past and they do work. With Weight Watchers they give a point to each food. This way I would write down what I ate and when the points were gone, I was done eating for the day. I lost on this pretty easily.
On sparkpeople they do the calories. I am not sure about figuring calories. I did loose a little, but not as much as with ww.

I do. I keep an Online Fitness Journal. I watch my daily calorie intake and at the same time I also keep track of the calories I burn every day. It helps me with my weight loss efforts. Since I am seeing numbers, I can be objective about the things that I am doing. I know where and when to cut down. I'd know when to increase or decrease my activities. If you'd like to try one, I reco www.fitay.com

I started out by having a food diary. I would simply write down what I ate. I wouldnt worry about the amount or the servings or the calories in it. That really helped me at first. I was able to see how much I was snacking!
Then as I got a little bit more serious about my weight loss, I started tracking calories as well. I used a website (www.sparkpeople.com) that is completely free. One of the tools they offer is a food tracker. It can help you track how many calories you consume in one day.
Doing these two things really helped me to gain control of my eating. I no longer use the calorie tracker, because I became obsessive about it. But I did learn a lot while I was using it. I measured portions so that I knew how many calories I was eating. I tried to balance the meals. Now I still watch how much I eat, I just try to pay attention to my body and make sure I get the things I need.
If you are looking to lose weight, a calorie tracker or food diary is a great tool. It may not be something you want to do forever, but it can really help you get started! (I have been able to continue to lose weight even though I am not tracking all of my food!)

I did it for a while on a website that is supposed to pay me for points. I would enter in the foods, the calories, and the exercise I did. While I did that, I did lose weight.

Oh my goodness not me. If I would write down every bite of food that went into my mouth during the day I would probably schock myself into a stroke or heat attack.
Thats my problem, I only eat once a day and that is all day..LOL
For those who have the restrain to stick to a diet and log what they eat I commend them for they are far braver than I could ever be.
