Here in the Hudson Valley, the gas prices are up over 10% within a week. From 2.17 on Tuesday to 2.34 today. Where are you? What are the gas prices doing? Any idea why? Is this seasonal or what??

I have no idea why. I thought they were going to keep it down where it was reasonable. It is taking awful big jumps for that.

It is already higher than that here. It jumped another dime today, bringing it to $2.39 a gallon.

I heard a few weeks ago that they expect the summer highs for gas to be around 2.28-2.32. You know come memorial day it will be higher.

Oh man!! I'm in NC right now and yesterdays prices were about 2.17 too, so who knows if it went up to 2.34 today! ahhhh!! Good thing I have a full tank! I have no idea why the prices are going up. I would like to know that myself.

You know...a few years ago we were all kicking and screaming about the increases...now we are like lambs to the slaughter...we just go along with it.

Tell me about it! Its getting so bad that I had to go out and buy a new car that is better on gas. My last car was a gas guzzler and made me sick to my stomach every time I had to fill the tank. Before I got my new car, I had to pay around 60-65 bucks on a full tank. Now, I spend around 25 bucks with the new gas prices.

Gas prices are going up all over, the big oil companies are ripping us off. They know its getting warm and people will be doing more traveling, a holiday weekend is coming up soon. They are always making record profits, what can we do about it. he gov. likes to regulate and control everyting else, maybe its time the govt. did something about fuel prices. I believe the cost of fuel has been probably one of the biggest things that has harmed our economy.

I think they were gearing up for Mother's Day and Memorial Day. We went from $1.98 to $2.15, then back down to $2.05. I am in central Kansas. Traditionally we have lower prices in this area than just about anywhere else.

So you went up and then back down. I don't think NY is aware that the prices can go down until they have gone done everywhere else in the country.

I"m in the midwest and we've been hovering around $2.09 for the longest and now I've seen gas as hight as $2.49/gal. Granted it's not as bad as it was last year but I was hoping to keep the cost under or about $2 like it used to be. I know they are probably switching us to the summer formula of gas so that would explain some price increase but .40 in the past 2 weeks?!?! I hope it doesn't go too crazy as hubby bought an SUV and I'm fearing he jinxed us with this purchase to try to keep the tank even half full ya know?!?!

Gas prices have been up and down rapidly the past few years. I remember when it was more than $4.00 a gallon. People are saying gas will shoot up in the summer like it does every year. I hope not but there is nothing we can do.

I should think we can try to establish some accountability...I hope to be able to afford a hybrid or electric car in the next couple of years.

Because it is warmer and people travel more, gas companies are charging more...no other explanation. Maybe the economy is getting better and we have bigger demand...

The gas prices go up as it gets to summer every year. I'm not too happy about it either. And the rise in gas prices seems to have started a couple of weeks ago. It got to $1.92 here and I thought that was higher than normal (yes, I think we have some of the lowest gas prices in the country). But today it was $2.11. If they really want the economy stimulated, maybe pressure should be put on the gas companies. People aren't going to get out or go on vacation if the gas prices get unreasonable again.

Hi Debs_place, yes you can say that, ours went up last month as it was budget day and the goverment put a lot of things up like drinks ciggerates gas, it is really disgusting as with all this recession people are suffering so much. Tamara
