I am not at the picture yet, but I am assuming that you are talking about strawberries. I never did thin mine out, but they did not always produce well either. Some methods I heard about were to run the tiller down the rows of older plants once the new ones were established.

That's what I thought I had read somewhere was to run the feeders from the first plants out then remove them once the new plant started to bloom. Thanks.
