I just began a running program but I am very out of shape. Plus I am overweight (hence the reason I want to run is to loose weight). I was a walker for years, and only recently was again. Now I am running but small amounts. 1 mint or 2 if I can and then walking the 5 mint between about 3 to 4 times in a set, about 3 times a week. I got the plan off running.about.com but there are other sites out there i am sure like runnersworld (the magazine). I have a bad knee from an injury 10 yrs ago so I am trying to be careful. But in the end wondering if there are any fellow runners out there. Or beginners I might say. Come join the fun. :))

I am not a runner. I do have a treadmill that I can use for running or for walking though. I need to make more time for it.

Hey! I am a new runner too. I can't join a running program until at least another month since I have too much going on right now. But I have been going out running on my own. I am also very out of shape. I don't care if I lose weight but I do want to lose fat. I've never been into walking as exercise because I feel no burn doing it, but I will walk to go places if it isn't very far. Currently I only just barely started. I'm still trying to break in my running shoes. They're supposed to help me avoid knee injuries, which is good because knee problems run in my family.

I used to run in high school, but that was 12 years ago. Reciently I decided to start running again. It has really felt good to know I can still run at all. I have added a lot of pounds over the years, but I still feel like I have a good pace at it all. I have set a goal to run a half marathon in the next year. I think if I plan and take care of myself it will be okay. It is also a great way to get some me time. Just me and my Ipod thinking about what ever floats through my mind. I really enjoy it.

I want to start running too, but was afraid that it would kill my knees. I love your idea about running a little at a time and then working your way up. I am giong to check out the site that you mentioned. If believe running is one of the best ways to get into shape. Thanks for the info.

For me as much as I need to loose weight, I hate running...its just feel boring for me...maybe that's why I kept failing my diet...lol...but I do love sports and competitive...just not running, it drives me crazy..don't like it.

I am just starting to get into the diet and excerise thing again. I want to join a gym but before I do I wanted to build up my energy by walking each day then turn it into running. I don't want to start running and since I am over weight get all burnt out and only do it for like 20mins. So hopefully that works for me.
