The year 2012 on the Mayan calendar indicates the end of a cyle. History and the world repeats itself and this is indicated on the Mayan calendar. I think that the world is not going to end on the year 2012, but something bad is going to happen. We are just now starting to be able to read the Mayan language. I wish that some Catholic priest had not desroyed a lot of Mayan books several centuries ago. Thewre is so much we could have learned from those books. The Hopi indians in Arizona indicate on their calendar, as I understand it, that 2012 is the last year. I do believe that something awful and dramatic is going to happen.

No one knows the beginning and the end. Why do we have to worry what is in store for us in the future? Savor each moment. Live up to the present. Who knows the end has already passed and we're living hell now. Spooky ! tee hee

hi for me people said in the year 2000 the whole world will be destroyed.. we are sitting in 2009...is that true....may be few bad people die it doesnt mean all will die. good ones will live forever...

Wow, that will be a shocking news to know. It's now 2009 and 2012 is coming very soon! I will really hope that those predictions are not true and will not come true. I still have many things and aims to achieve in my life, and i'm just too young to die! However, i do have confident that human beings are able to sustain this world and will not let it to be destroyed. I believe many of the scientist and environmentalist are trying the best and working hard to save this world from being polluted and damaged. with these, i believe we human beings still have longer time and years to go before everyhing comes to the end. May God bless us all.

Well I hope it doesn't end then because the politicians here in Ireland think that it will take us to the year 2012 to recover from the recession (they have made such a mess of things that I don't think we will every recover). If on the off chance that we do recover, I want to get all the money back which they are taking from me (I'll soon be left with none) and then I am going to have a long holiday and go on a spending spree.

Especially if you see that special on Discovery. In addition, the computers that the "web bot guys" created is predicting it. In case you don't know what that is, two men created a computer that moniters conversation on the internet and makes predictions. It predicted 9/11, the challenger disaster and others. The thing is, the web bots have been wrong before, and the end of the world has has been predicted hundreds of times dating back to the 1950s and trhey've never been right. So my feeling is, maybe, maybe not.

I don't think so I don't think that god intended for us to know when the end of the world was going to happen. Predictions are made all the time..I guess only time will tell.

I think they are basing this on their idea that the myan calander ends in 2012. Of course I don't think they have the same calender year as us, so their 2012 could be way different then our 2012, and also maybe they didn't find the other dates. Or maybe there was no reason for stopping at 2012. Maybe they just had more important things to do like human sacrifices, then worry about keeping up with a calender. No one knows when the end is going to come. The myans, Nostradamous, dr. suess. no one.

It's a continuing phenomenom. 12 December 2012 is mean 121212. The similar saying that world going to be disaster was happened when 9 September 1999 which mean 9999. But the fact, that's all just a hoax. Way back to the first millenium, people was believed that the end of world is fallen on 1 January 1000. But the fact, nothing's happened. We don't have to worry about the judgement day. Although we all believe that the judgement day would come, but no one, not even Buddha, Jesus and Mohammad knewing when will the judgement day actually come. Only The God knows that secret. no thats not true but i think it might come a time when all human will be gone because of they way things are happening now such as increased voilence so i think it might take a while maybe thiry thousand year more to get all the human out of earth or maybe earths total distruction, remeber you have to take science intto consideration with the earth's rotation being decreased by 1 second recently due to the placing of heavy objects to the top of the earth's surface (same concept goes to an ice skater who extends the arm to slow their rotation)

Live your life to the fullest. It really doesn't matter if the world is going to end on 12/12/12; everyone's life is going to end, either way.

Hey ! I heard about this all my life . Right now it really makes you wonder . I dont wanna think that is true , but you just never know . Gonna make my heart beat when the date gets closer . I would feel like I am missing out . I wanna get married and have kids .

Personally I think that this is a load of rubbish! There was a big scare back in 2000, people thought that all the computers around the world were going to crash and that the world would end up in caos. And what happened? NOTHING! I believe that there are certain people in the world today, who feed off of the fear of influencial people. I think that those people start theses kinds of rumors so that they can increase their number of followers, and so that they can create panic. If the world were going to end, these people would be doing whatever they wanted, when they wanted to. I also would like to ask this question: What makes these people so special that they would know this information before anyone else? Why would they tell anyone else? Why would these people keep on living knowing that the world was going to end?

Yeah, just like major calamities were supposed to occur on January 1, 2000. No one--not the Mayans, not any other group of human beings--except God knows when the end of the world is going to be. It's just a scare tactic these so-called scholars are using to get people so scared that they'll totally change their way of living (i.e., giving up more of their freedoms in the false hope that it will keep them safe).
