A flower can more easily show us the way to God or way to our inner selves. It could bring in a sense of awe, wonder, peace, love, sadness, sensuousness within us. The essence of a flower communicates with various aspects of our emotions. Does any particular flower bring any emotion within you? Or, What does a flower mean to you?

They have a very spiritual meaning to me and i connect them more in understanding the beauty of life. And also connected with a flower is a sense of mystisicm. “If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.” The White Lily brings out a sense of wanting to be pure. Pure in thought and in action. The Roses invokes the feeling of love and gets me into a dreamy world. The lotus touches me deep within my soul as i visualise the opening and the closing of the lotus during meditation. The simple and beautiful sunflower arranged in rows reminds me how beautiful life is. Chrysanthums make me happy. Flowers generally invoke a smile and a good feeling with me. The only time that they bring out a feeling of sadness is when i see a wreath.

I do not get to see much of Lilies or lotuses but roses are mesmerising and whatever color interpretation each may come up with I find them absolutely lovely. The essence of rose is therapeutic for me. Nothing like a fresh rose oozing of life and color. Chrysanthemum, being my birth flower I am always kid of biases towards it. I hate to find a drooping chrysanthemum in anyone's house. Sun flowers are beautiful and so are daffodils. However, white daffodils bring back sad memories. I also love the violets and orchids. It's like eternal beauty. And I guess, even red rose in a wreath would have bring in sadness..

We had a lovely little garden in our previous residence. While there were a number of plants, the most special of them were the roses. Great care would be taken of them. It was a joy to watch the buds appear and then appear in full bloom. Something i cherish and would still love to do.

That must be a great feeling! I remember, growing my own rose shrub by planting the cut stem from my friend's rose plant. It grew after a lot of care. The buds were amazing with a lighter hue and the full bloom flower is out of the world. I also remember having morning flowers which bloomed full in the morning and also I had violets which were creepers. I had my garden in the garage but soon had to part with it when it was concreted all over.

I always feel the way Wordsworth felt about flowers. I wandered lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze Continuous as the stars that shine And twinkle on the milky way, They stretched in never-ending line Along the margin of a bay: Ten thousand saw I at a glance, Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

Red Rose - How beautiful a red rose looks.
Hi! Mimpi! If one goes by the biological meaning of flower, a flower is - the reproductive structure of some seed-bearing plants, having either specialized male or female organs or both male and female organs, enclosed in an outer envelope of petals and sepals. It is petals of a flowers which make it look awesome and beautiful and there are many flowers which attract our attention, however, to my kind Rose stands apart. I prefer full bloomed red or pink rose to any other flower. The attraction which we find in rose flower is just mesmerizing and binding. It has a distinct ordour and I think everybody loves that ordour. I have many plants of roses in my terrace garden and when the weather is conducive, I can see hue of different colours (roses) from white, yellow, cream, pink to deep red. Flowers makes us feel that different natural colours and ordours have great importance in our life and they give us a kind of soothing sense and peace.

I agree. In Zen we say that a simple flower can bring enlightenment. Communication isn't just about speaking or writing, it is about being with another. And anything can just be with another person. I remember a profound experience one day whilst attending a spiritual encounter seminar in London. I went out into the grounds of the college and saw a large tree. Now the tree had been there for 100 or more years, but suddenly I was really seeing this tree - it was the first time in my life that I realized what I had previously heard and read about as a mystical experience. It was difficult to let go of it, but of course, once something has been and gone on that level of consciousness, it is important to let to of it in order to move on and make space for more similar experiences. - Derel

Hope for unattainable love - A blue rose is a flower of the genus Rosa (family Rosaceae) that presents blue to violet pigmentation, instead of the more common red or white. Blue roses do not exist in nature. Faux blue roses were traditionally created by dyeing white roses, since the flower lacks the gene that produces true blue flowers. Nominal "blue roses" have been bred by conventional hybridization methods, but the results, such as "Blue Moon" are more accurately described as lilac in color.
A flower, in general, for me is an enigma. It could have the most simplest of forms, only a single uniform color and yet it brings about different meanings and evokes different emotions out of anyone, anywhere, anytime. A blue rose gives me the sense of hope. A true blue(not mauve or indigo) rose in nature is quite rare and might even be non-existent. So the symbolism of a blue rose for me is to attain the impossible. Work hard towards the impossible and it might just become real or very much possible. In regards to love, its the symbol for unattainable love. A bit of an unrequited love of sorts but still, it gives hope that someday it will be true.

A flower is a sympbol of beauty and of the marvels of God's creation --this is how it appeals to me;and I like to see them on the plants best though rarely when I dress up I like it on my hair too.But generally, the thought of a flower only takes me to a flower filled garden and a hill resort. When I saw this discussion it took me back to my childhood days when there was a lovely rose plant in my house [the garden in the backyard].This was a light pink rose [ the one with a sweet smell and is used for Gulkhand] and the flower filled plant where the roses used to glisten with light morning dew in the months of December and January is an everlasting memory. THe whole place would be sweet smelling. But this thought makes me very sad for many reasons.

That's so sweet! I know it could be sad but some melancholies are sweet. I love when people/you put flowers on your hair. Its so refreshing to look at. I have a colleague who does that. I love going to her desk again and again. It feels close to divinity. Your memory took me back to my day when I used to grow flowers but had to give the green space to garage soon. It hurts.

Hi Mimipi, Yes whenever I see dark blue Iris's I feel a sense of wonder and I also thin of my nana bless her as her middle name was Iris. I also love to roam fre in the woods with the bluebells and adore seeing daffodils in the spring. The ones I tend to buy for myself, though rarely are carnations as they also have a wonderful aroma and last well but I prefer houseplants and for the flowers to grow without being picked really. Huggles. Ellie :D

Dear I think flowers are best enjoyed in a plant. lucky are those who grow their own. Nothing could be more beautiful than this. I love to get flower pots which my friends gives me. even though it doesn't stay long still watering them and seeing them grow is such a wonderful feeling. Iris is a beautiful flower. We don't get them often here though. You nana must have been wonderful. Huggles..

Hey mimpi! I love flowers! And you are so right! A flower can run the gammot of emotions as you have said! It can depict beauty, love, sadness and the wonders of life! When I see a flower blooming I usually think happy thoughts! It is just one of the many wonders of nature that can't be explained! I just love to look at them and sometimes I will pick them. But, the if I pick them I know that they will soon die and I will be sad! And when someone buys me flowers I again have those mixed emotions too! I am happy to get them because they are so beautiful and smell so wonderful, but then I know that in a few days they will die and I will be miserable!

A pink rose. I look at a pink rose and I see its perfection, softness, beauty and aroma. I look at a rose and I can see a little part of God. A rose is beautiful and it just is. None of us have made it; it has been created by the Divine and that is the most amazing and wondrous thing! A rose is love and acceptance.

To me a flower is a personification of beauty to the highest degree......I just love flowers and their colour or smell is only of secondary importance....for nothing is more pleasing to the soul and to the mind, than to be in the middle of a field filled with beautiful flowers.....A bunch of flowers can brighten up a sad person ,flowers can add colour to any occasion and make it lively and unforgettable.....Flowers make a lovely and befitting gift for all occasions and can be more eloquent than a well prepared speech......
